Thursday Next
Been there a few times now. Epic terrain. Can't wait to ride it again. If you happen to be in the Longhorn between the 21st January and the 4th February, I'll get the drinks in. On topic: Does anyone know if old PS2 saves will work with the remaster? Doesn't seem likely. Anyone tried it with say Ico or Shadow?
deanb
http://www.siliconera.com/2013/07/12/final-fantasy-xx-2-hd-remaster-will-have-international-edition-content/ Hooray, it's the EU release.
deanb
It has remastered audio. Also they've gone and named him as Tidus (in the original he had no name and was never referenced by any either, which made issues come FFX-2 with them calling Tidus "him"). deanb
It's ion Japanese, but shouldn't stop you if you've played the game enough In general, though not helped by being in 720p if you've a PC able to run PCSX2 fine you're probably solid enough, unless you want trophies. Oh and the re-done FMVs (but they'll likely end up online eventually)
Strangelove
This remaster is a bigger deal to us living in the US since this is the first time were getting the international version. Same with FFX-2. Europe got the international version by default.
TCP
I'll pick this up on Vita for the portability. And also to support the release of the infinitely better XII on PS4/Vita... hopefully.
deanb
Actually the international version was Japan only for FFX-2. So it'll be a first for pretty much everyone. FFX tips: Get Valefor's limit break thing off the Dog in Besaid ASAP. Do not leave Besaid for good without it, cos otherwise when you pop back later in the game you've got to fight Dark Valefor. By which point you'd kind of want to have that limit break or you're fucked. Treat Yojimbo well, then you can pay him like 100gil to just kill most Dark Aeons. Don't dick about on the Advanced Sphere Grid. Pick a path for each character and stick to it or you'll end up overall weaker as a result. Feel free to have minor diverts for Lulu and Yuna when they're near each other though since two black mages are sweet to have.
TheMightyEthan
If it's Japan only in what sense is it the international version?
TCP
Because Japan, that's why.
deanb
FFX the International version is only in Europe so... edit: I would guess based on the data that "International" means "not America".
TheMightyEthan
Europe has more than one nation.

TheMightyEthan
Just saying, it's not as ridiculous to call a Europe-only release "international" as it is to call a Japan-only one that.
deanb
It probably should be mentioned that "International" releases only ever come out in Japan. In Europe FFX is just "Final Fantasy X" not "Final Fantasy X: International". It just happens to have a bunch of extra features that the various "International" games have and it makes it easier to differentiate from the regular FFX Japan and NA got. edit: Correction to prior post: Japan did get a FFX:International. Meaning NA is the only place that didn't get Dark Aeons, Expert Sphere Grid etc.
TheMightyEthan
I actually didn't even realize anything was ever officially titled the "International" version anywhere. I thought it was just a term used unofficially to describe differences between various versions.
deanb
http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/International_Version Basically they make the game, port it to NA/Euro and go "huh we could probably improve this" then re-release it in Japan. Just with FFX it took so long to localise we ended up with the "International" edition too.
TheMightyEthan
Ah, so it's "International" because it's an updated Japanese version that incorporates changes made in the foreign localizations. That actually makes sense.
deanb
And now I understand the confusion of the previous page. Yeah, they're a bit like "Street Fighter Turbo" kinda dealy-o where instead of a patch/update because they didn't exist back then, they just made the game brand new. However it doesn't incorporate changes made in the NA/Jap editions (you'll note you guys don't have Dark Aeons and none of us had the Zodiac Job system) but changes they thought of while localising the games.
