Retard, they were still up 31 shots to 10 and only had one goal against a goalie way past his prime. When the captain of a team is out of the game by a cheap shot and four other injuries are sustained to notable players, it's hard to give that much credit to the winning team.

Not to mention having a bunch of bullshit go on around Turco when he clearly had the puck frozen and the refs do nothing.

You are a fucking retard. The Hawks got away with 3 penalties in their zone in the first period alone. Turco tripped a Blues player right in front of the refs.

It's clear you're one of the many bandwagon fans b/c you know jackshit about hockey. It doesn't matter how many goals are scored; if a team wins 1-0 but outshoots the other team like 40-8, I'd say that's pretty dominant. Turco played well. Jesus Christ.

When you stand in the fucking box for absolutely no reason when there's no attack going on, that's your fucking fault for being there. I've watched the game for years and I take advantage of it after we got satellite for the first time.

The whole fucking point is that Turco hasn't played well for most of this season. It's just pathetic when you've outshot a team 18-7 and you're still losing the game. Even more when its 31-10 and you're tied. Yeah you were dominant, but couldn't fucking capitalize on so many shots. I counted at least nine times where the Blues had a wide open net after a rebound and failed to do shit with it.

Edit: And it wasn't even a fucking trip. It was a push out of the box and a fucking dive after that. Don't even start that shit when your team got away with a blatant fucking boarding penalty that knocked out the captain of a team.

Islanders beat the Penguins tonight, 2-1 in the shootout. DP looked sharp in net AND Crosby's streak was shut down. the only bad thing is that I missed about half the game because I went out to dinner with my family for my younger sisters' birthday.

@Red Wings this Friday.

Islanders win it in Calgary 5-2. playing Edmonton next, on the 6th.

DP left the ice partway through the game with some sort of strain in his hip(?). Lawson was put in for the remainder of the game. don't know how serious it is or if it'll put him out for Friday/maybe longer, but I'm assuming Poulin or Koskinen will be brought up from the Bridge if need be.

I thought they won 4-2?

Edit: Nevermind, could've sworn Versus had said the game was over at 4-2.

Meanwhile the 'Hawks performed correctly tonight as they actually kept a lead they had despite losing it twice before. Still too much drama in the backends way too often, though we killed off most of the PP's tonight, there were just some bad ones that went around.

I honestly believe that the biggest offseason losses were not Byfuglien or Niemi, but losing guys like Sopel, Madden, Eager, and Ladd. The guys that made our PK unit so damn great are now gone. Versteeg also helped quite a bit throughout the regular season.

I say that if Hjalmarsson had been let go to the Sharks that we could've at least kept Sopel and Madden. Possibly Versteeg as well. It was just too much of a hit on us to have retained Hjalmarsson, who has not played up to his potential.

I'm in two minds about it. It's good that we've kept a young player that's still got a chance to maybe live up to his promise a bit more, but our PK's definitely suffered. Johnson, to an extent's helped us a bit since he's come in, in terms of being a good bottom-6 faceoff winner (and maybe helping putting Kopecky back on the side, god he's awful at center), but it's like some of the rest of the guys just decide to collectively switch off their physical game at select matches.

Skille and Bickell are big dudes that should be able to finish their checks much more in a way like Brouwer was able to last night. I'm still largely undecided on Scott, who can't play hockey to save his life, and only comes off the bench because he thinks he'd be more comfortable in the penalty box instead. At least when Eager played that role for a bit last year, he could at least look like a proper player and not just someone there to keep the other team's goon squad in check. In fact, Dowell's been that much of a scrapper this season I don't know what role Scott's actually got left.

Could you imagine though, if we did let Hjalmarsson go in the summer, kept Buff, and played him at D like he's doing now in Atlanta? My mouth foams at the amount of dropped points we could have got.

Question though: Cullimore was placed on re-entry waivers a week or 2 ago and went unclaimed and cleared. Garnet Exelby's sitting in Rockford. I'm not sure what way Exelby's contract is (whether it's with the Icehogs themselves or a Blackhawks 2-way), but if he can come up and send Cullimore - or hell, even Boynton, whose had his fair share of mistakes too this year - I think our defense could be a lot more physical and competitive, and would certainly leave oppositions second-guessing themselves. With Exelby's physical style of play, do you think that could help Hjalmarsson's confidence back a bit? He looks a shadow of the player he was before he got that suspension for the Pomminville hit at the start of the season, it's like he's scared to play a bit rough now.

Well, you mentioned that the PK unit suffering a lot this season, they done it again last night. 2 powerplay goals conceded. And Stalberg hitting all 3 irons on that penalty shot - imagine how the game may have panned out if that went in...

And while not NHL, rather USHL, this video started doing the rounds yesterday, and I was like :o when I saw it.
