While I'm from more of a soccer fan, I'm almost starting to believe the Blackhawks are the perfect team for me to support, by virtue of already sorta supporting them.

See, in soccer, I've supported Liverpool all my life. Since I started supporting them in '93 they have never won the league. They thrive on putting their fans through hell only to go on an amazing late season run to eventually get close enough to the dance without actually being there.

This pretty much sums up the Blackhawks since I adopted them as my team (Stanley Cup aside).

I don't know how they managed to fold in Denver last night. Seems that almost every time we score, we fall asleep and let one in immediately, and often it's 2 in rapid succession. Lack of defensive concentration is really putting our season to the sword so far, and the only reason we've got the jump on the standings so far is because we've played a lot more games than almost all the other teams.

Islanders vs Ducks this Thursday. I have a feeling I know how that's going to end up.

DP and Hunter need to be sent down to Bridgeport with Poulin brought up to fill in DPs place. Bailey should probably be brought back up too. put Gervais and I suppose Sim on waivers. find a new coach and a new GM (inb4 Roloson is made the new GM). they need a new owner too, someone who's going to keep the team here on the island. wonder if the Wilpons are interested.

I feel I don't really know that much about hockey yet though. haven't watched a lot.

I don't think he's their main starter for the year, they've been using Bobrovsky a fair amount this year too. I'd say they'll probably post 50:32 while Bob's getting big league experience.

Similar situation to Turco/Crawford with us, I think Turco was only really signed as a stop-gap to make sure Crawford was ready for the bigs, and as a good fall-back, on one year and relatively cheap, it would be hard to not avail of having him as a foil.

EDIT: I have no idea why you guys sent Niederreiter back to the Winterhawks. Hockey blogs were raving about his talent and potential all pre-season. If the Isles had the foresight to know this'd be another awful season (lol @ the Nordiques fans outnumbering your own the other day btw) then they should have took the year to break them in, like what Edmonton are doing with a few of their youngsters.

I went to a fight once, and a hockey game broke out. Obligatory.

In other news, I'm really in the dark when it comes to hockey. (Being Floridian doesn't help.)

I was thinking, however, of picking up NHL 11, and giving it a whirl to see if it would show me the ropes.

Download the demo and play the shit out of it. Or rent it. Honestly. I wouldn't get the game on a whim with no idea how the game works. It was ok in the PS2 days when it was blatantly fun and a lot simpler, but you can't really get away with doing that now.

I think it is ownage that he left chicago because he was like "split time with hasek? fuck that shit" and hasek got traded then he was all "split time with hackett? fuck that shit" then went 3-9 with the sharks then came to dallas and was owneth against the sharks and hawks for five years
