Chewblaha
If I ever have to watch a game on MSG+ again I will shove needles in my dick. "OH HAMONIC, JUST STANDING UP FOR HIMSELF WITH THE LITTLE SUCKER PUNCH THERE. OH GOOD JOB, HIGH STICKING THE GUY IN THE FACE! OH YEAH! OH REFS YOU'RE SO DISRESPECTFUL, THE GUY ONLY SUCKER PUNCHED HIM IN THE FACE. YOU DON'T TOUCH HIM. OH NHL NEEDS TO. OH MY. HE WAS JUST. HE WAS STANDING UP FOR HIMSELF." Thank god I muted it and listened to the slightly off-pace WGN Radio commentary instead. I want Pat and Edzo to commentate my life. They may be homers too but damn it they're funny. And possibly always drunk when calling games. I dunno.
Chewblaha
Edzo isn't too much of a homer. He's just a really, really good color commentator. Pat is a great play by play too, but Mike Emrick is hard to top.

P4: Gritty Reboot
The Ducks are out; Angels get swept over the weekend. I just can't catch a break it seems.
TCP
Seriously? This is the hockey the fans and Nashville have had to watch all year? Don't get me wrong, the Preds are a good team, but damn it is boring. Now hopefully the Wings can get past those Sharks.
Chewblaha
I hope Chara obliterates Raffi Torres and Maxim LaPierre. To think that two absolute scumbags who will probably go on to beat their wives one day scored game winning goals just sickens me. Chewblaha
And where does Luongo come off making jabs at Tim Thomas? Tim has made 30+ saves in every goddamn game and given up less goals total than Luongo gave up in game four. He's an undeserving prick who has dirty assholes playing in front of him. Yet when those dirty assholes are put down like they should be (See game three and game four when they are pushed around for the entire game), Luongo is a damn nutcase who can't do shit. danielpholt
This is akwward isn't it. Couple of updates regarding the NHL. - Washington has appointed their new Head-Coach. Former Captain and soon to be Hall of Famer Adam Oates has been given the gig. This Caps fan is very happy with this move, especially after having to sit through hours of 'Hunter Hockey'. - Edmonton also has their new coach. Ralph Krueger gets his chance to take the Oilers back into the playoffs. And really, given that his team is loaded with top end talent, i'd be stunned if they aren't making a play for a playoff spot inside 3 years. Back to Washington. Dennis Wideman was traded to the Calgary Flames for a 3rd round pick, and Jordan Henry (?). He also agreed a new deal with the Flames @ 5 years/ $26m dollars. Good luck Dennis. I for one actually enjoyed your style of play. You will be missed. ---So i'm a hockey fan. Am i a one man army or do i have someone to talk Hockey with? TCP
I'm probably the biggest hockey fan around here, there's a few others though. Chewblaha likes to try and talk hockey but he doesn't seem to know much about the sport. Penguins signed Crosby to a 12-year contract. Really, really, hope he can keep playing. I'd be a little nervous to be their GM, but what can you do? If you don't sign him, and he leaves, knowing puck luck, he'll probably have a long, healthy, career. But if he can stay healthy, that's good for the game, the league, and most of all the Pens.
danielpholt
I think thats a bad contract. I'm not a massive fan of those long deals as it is, as players change. Look at Ovechkin for that matter, but not only that Crosby has had a series of concussion issues. I hope they don't spark up again, but who knows at this point. I guess in 13 years time we'll look back and be able to judge.
Chewblaha
Just because your team is shitty doesn't mean I don't know anything about hockey, poet. Daniel you'll find that I'm an avid fan of the big four in sports. Don't talk to me about soccer, though. danielpholt
Not a massive Soccer guy then? Understandable. My love of the Beautiful game has dwindled, and fallen off a cliff since i discovered i could watch live NHL hockey in the UK. Its been a very enjoyable 4 years since that discovery. danielpholt
Firstly, Happy Canada day to any Canadians on the board. Secondly, its 'Free Agent Frenzy'. Washington will be saying Bye Bye to Alex Semin, a player who's time in Washington has divided opinion. One minute we love the guy, his outrageous shot, his puck handling ability. The next he's taking a offensive zone stick penalty in 9 straight games. On the whole though, i think we'll remember him fondly. Treat him well whoever gets him. Chewblaha
The Hawks haven't done anything so far today. I'm still waiting.
danielpholt
George Parros has gone to Florida, which is a little disappointing as Washington was supposedly into that deal. I'm sure we'll see more moves over the next month. These big multi-day events are always disappointing.
Chewblaha
The Hawks signed Sheldon Brookbanks. The guy has low points scored and 130+ PIM last year. I would think he's an enforcer at first, then I noticed he lead the Ducks with +11. Thinking this guy is just a stay-at-home defenseman who is not worried about taking a few penalties for the team. He had 120 hits so he might slot into the third defense pairing to replace Sean O'Donnel. Edited July 1, 2012 by Chewblaha

danielpholt
Joey Crabb. Our signing on day one of free agency was a 4th line winger. Fantastic. On a serious note, he should give us some much needed depth. Still no second line centre though. I know it awful early, but I thought someone would show some real interest in Semin. TSN had some really harsh (unfairly so) words about him. They labelled him a 'coach killer' which just is not true. Baring the failure to report thing way back in 2005, he's never caused much trouble in Washington. You can sometimes question his effort levels, but he's never done anything to hurt the team. Even those stupid penalties are done out of wanting the puck back. Unfortunately the media in North America seems to associate the quiet, and more annoyingly the Russian players with the trouble makers. Semin is a lot of things, but he's not a trouble maker. Rant over. F*ck you TSN.

Chewblaha
So the Wild get Suter and Parise for an identical 13-year, 98 mil contract. Insane.
danielpholt
I'd been hearing things about the Parise deal but the Suter deal has taken me completely off guard. I was sure he was heading to Detroit. Speaking of Detroit, they're D is starting to look awful ropey.
TCP
Damn Minnesota, how about leave some UFAs for the rest of us!! In all honest, the NW has been weak for the past few seasons, besides the elite Canucks. With the Wild at least a playoff team, and you'd have to think the Oilers are playoff bound, it should make for some more exciting hockey, if anything.
