Ender's Game: The Movie

I could completely be presuming incorrectly or stereotyping unfairly, but there have to be Ender's Game fans here, right?

*thwap!*

Harrison Ford as Colonel Graff? Not my first choice, but I can see it. Graff is a complex character, and Ford certainly has the chops to pull it off. I know nothing of the child actors, but I understand the young girls cast as Valentine and Petra have some serious weight behind their reputations. It seems like a decent casting job (finally and) so far. It all comes down to that script...

I'm also curious to see if this will wind up being an Ender's Game film strictly, or an Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow film, as that was the plan as of the last Orson Scott Card author's note I read.

Oh, and if you've read this far and don't know what Ender's Game is, I highly recommend it to any fan of science fiction, or just any fan of good reads.

*edit*

Holy crap, how did I forget to mention Ben Kingsley as Mazer?!

Wait, what are we talking about?

I like that that article gives the spoiler warning about Mazer after the spoiler. That's nice of them. :P

(not that it actually spoiled anything for me, as I've read the book several times)

Yeah, I think you speak for all the fans right there, as well as Card himself. This could either be the greatest thing ever for Ender's Game, or it could be a disaster. I'm a bit concerned about Asa Butterfield's (Ender) age, I wonder if Card gave up on trying to have Ender as a child, or if he's going to be playing much younger. I say "much" because they haven't begun to film yet, and he's at that age where childlike features can rapidly vanish. I know one of the biggest reasons this film didn't happen a very long time ago was that every writer would try to make Ender a teenager so that a love story could be (inappropriately) incorporated. If that winds up happening here I'm going to cry.

I'm also a bit concerned by Asa's accent...

I've always been one of those people who says "YES make this awesome book into a movie! If its bad, at least I still have the book" but for some reason with Enders Game, I'm feeling the opposite. I dont really have a good reason, but I do not want an Enders Game movie, nor do I want a video game of the book.

I hope its a good movie, at least that way I can enjoy both the book and movie. I'm trying to get my girlfriend to read the book, I bought her a kindle with the kindle version of the book for xmas! She can't say "No" now!
