deanb
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ht6NzoSvaCI So who watches Stargate? SG-1, SGA, SGU, or even just the movie?Personally I watched the movie when I was a wee little kid and my mum had to read out the Ga'ould subtitles for me.Because SG-1 when it first aired was on Sky1 (iirc) I never really got to watch it, when it came to terrestrial it was just too far in.When SG:U started last year I took up the opportunity to catch up. I'm now just coming to the end of SG:A's first season and not long finished off SG-1's Season 8 (I've being watching them in sync)For a spin-off SG:A is holding up surprisingly well, though I dislike teylah. Mostly just Shepard, Weir and McKay So any one else a fan?
Bouchart
I watched most of the original Stargate series and a decent chunk of Atlantis. It's a good show, and their reruns are better than most anything else on Sci-Fi.
TheForgetfulBrain
Stargate was the first PG-13 movie I ever saw, in 4th grade I think. I was so proud of that fact, until everyone laughed at the fact I was proud I had seen my first PG-13 movie, when they'd been watching R movies since they were five. Sad day. I've never watched any of the series, though I wanted to when I was younger (and did not have cable).
toxicitizen
Oh man, it's been years since I watched any new StarGate material. Love the original movie. I got the first bluray release of it and am actually considering getting the newer one since the first one is pretty uneven. Some footage looks amazing ( like when they're out in the desert) and some looks pretty shit and grainy as hell (mostly darker scenes inside temples and such). At one point I owned the first three seasons of SG-1 on DVD. Always meant to watch the rest of it, but it's such a long show that I never got around to it. Atlantis, I loved too. Especially how some episodes really felt like they belonged in some more hard sci-fi series like Star Trek. Again, never watched until the end. Finally, I have yet to watch a single episode of StarGate Universe, though I keep hearing good things about it. I'm a bit hesitant to start it without having properly watched the other shows, though. :/

deanb
SG:U is very disconnected from the other series. It makes slight references to it, but apart from mention of 'the ancients' and the old control chairs, there's not much to go back on the old one other than 'there are stargates'. As long as you know what a stargate is and does, then you're golden for watching the series. It's a very different taste and style to the others. A lot less jokey too. It kinda had it's O'Niell/McKay, but then he went all emo.

McKay is one of my fav character in any show ever.
deanb
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/british-columbia/stargate-franchise-cancelled/article1841513/ Well bummer. Seems Syfy hate Canada.
deanb
Oh god. Just watched one of the best scenes ever in history of TV.
deanb
Just watched Episode 20 of series 10 of SG-1. Now for 2.5 series of SG-A and the now restarted 2nd half of SG:U (and the TV movies)
staySICK
I saw the movie in theatres. I loved it; thought it was great. Heard rumblings about a sequel... why not, right? left it wide open. Then we got the tv show, and I just never got interested in it. Still watch the movie on occasion though.
deanb
I may not know much but I know replicators aren't web browsers. I googled fn_tour3 to see what coding it is and the first page that pops up is: "LOL, Something for the stargate fans..." http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php?topic=163379861.0 Which identifies it as Javascript. Guess I wasn't the only one to notice they're not running on Ancient. Now I just have Continuum to watch and I'll be completely done with SG-1 arc of Stargate. deanb
So today I finished off Stargate Atlantis. Which means today I watched 6 hours of SG:A Thank god for rendering. So yeah, I'm now fully caught up. And cos I've seen SG:U I know what "top secret" project the Odyssey was on in the finale of SG:A. It's a good franchise. Shame on SG:U. AgamemnonV2
SG-1 was the baby Jesus. SG:A was okay. And SGU was just begging to nail the final coffin in the series. Personally I'm glad it's all done with. SG-1 had the lovely theme of running with the positive vibes of the American military. Not to mention it's all Air Force. You know, the guys that actually would be running anything dealing with space? I don't know what it is with writers and their incessant need to make all the space military being run by the Navy. Dear writers: the Navy only knows crap about the water.
MasterDex
I've been a Stargate fan since the original movie and watched SG-1 and SG:A week by week as they aired on Sky 1. I liked SG:U too and think it should continue. It takes a different approach but it still has some good writing....that and Robert Carlyle stealing the show. "Are we done?" "WE'LL NEVER BE DONE!" I'd love if someone else picked up the show. I'm not ready for it to end yet.
deanb
Yeah Robert Carlyle makes the whole thing pretty awesome. Everyone else is pretty crappy tbh. Greer has his moments though.
Hocking
Ooh, a Stargate thread. I'm a total Stargate nerd. I'm in the process of re-watching all the way through SG-1 on DVD, which I started in January and have reached the first few episodes of Season 10. My plan is then to watch through SG:A before picking up SG:U on DVD and doing the same. I've only seen a handful of SG:U Season 1 via iTunes - so I'm wagering on a double box set of the two seasons.
