excel_excel
Finished The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition on PC, on HARD. Didn't change difficulty once!.....aaaaand its not like that gets me anything.... Great game. Just really well put together. Loved it. Wish I'd finished it faster as a lot of the first half of it blends together. sided with Roche. Didn't regret that one bit. Decided to focus on saving Anais rather than Triss and she turned out okay anyway so woo on that one. This way Roche is looking after Anais who's with Radovid and all is well!....except for well the south coming to attack the north. Anyway, that dragon was a fucking pain in the ass. Of course I killed it, mages could have used it again to decimate cities. Decided to fight Letho at the end too. Seemed like the sort of thing to do. I mean an epic final battle....just felt right! What was up with Dethmold being gay and having a man slave? That just kind of came out of nowhere just before Roche killed him. What was the point of revealing that there? What was up with Dethmold being gay and having a man slave? That just kind of came out of nowhere just before Roche killed him. What was the point of revealing that there? Congrats, nice one! If you haven't done Ioverth's path, I highly recommend it. Offers a whole new perspective on certain events as well as some surprising reveals. As for Dethmold being gay. I'm really not sure, despite showing he was a pervert in private (the slave thing, not the gay thing)? One of the female sorceresses (forget her name) has a female equivalent as well, but I think you might only see that on the other path.
CorgiShinobi
I still wish they'd make a sequel to the 2008 cell-shaded reboot, though. I really liked that one. You and me both, brother.
TheMightyEthan
Quite good, which surprised me despite the praise, since I'd already played their Jurassic Park game and the first two episodes of BttF.
toxicitizen
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. It is every bit as amazing as I remembered it to be. That pleases me. Maybe I'll replay Conviction next. But I should probably finish the other games I've already started first. Yeah, that's probably a good idea. The Walking Dead seems like something I should probably prioritize.
toxicitizen
Got a couple of short ones to add. Deadlight. I loved the visuals and I enjoyed the platforming. Some sections were a bit frustrating but overall it was pretty good, I'd say. The story is fucking awful, though. It starts out okay but you would have to be braindead to not see the ending coming a mile away. And being predictable isn't that bad of an offense on its own, but it's executed horribly and the last few lines are downright cringe-worthy. To The Moon. The obvious thing to say here is that this isn't much of a game. I knew it looked like a 16-bit RPG but I had no idea what to expect gameplay-wise. Turns out there's kind of not much to it but that's never really bothered me. I enjoyed Dear Esther, after all. The game did get a good laugh out of me with a joke about having a combat system, though. And that's where the game truly shined for me: the writing. Whether or not you enjoy the story is going to make or break this one. And I thought the writing was actually pretty good with some decent jokes here and there. Looking forward to the next episode. Waldorf and Statler
@FLD: I had heard so much praise for To The Moon that I was coming in with big expectations and was disappointed at the simplicity of the gaming itself. The story wasn't anything spectacular either imho but decent enough to make me finish the game.

deanb
I'll add in a Google Docs link later, but main facts would be is the most beaten game of the year is Batman Arkham City, with 10 of us beating it. Joint third being Saint's Row 3 and Mass Effect 3. And combined we'd beaten 210 titles, with a grand total of 384 games beaten. Oh and obviously in case anyone isn't aware new thread for a new year (might suggest that for Games Bought thread too.)
MetalCaveman
Spec Ops: The Line. Interesting concept, I liked the story, gameplay could use some improvement though, I had a hard time getting into cover during some of the fights, also, I'm not a fan of the slow motion thing. deanb
I'll assume you beat that yesterday. Doesn't change the rankings mind, but that was a somewhat common game.
Faiblesse Des Sens
but that was a somewhat common game. Care to explain before I miscomprehend that?
deanb
It was beaten by 5 people (including Caveman), making it somewhat common game beaten. (the large majority of titles were beaten by only 1 or 2 people)
Faiblesse Des Sens
Okay, gotcha, referring back to your previous posts.

TheMightyEthan
I beat 37 games this year, with an average of 13 hours per game (to beat them, some games I kept playing after, like Arkham City and Mass Effect 3) and among all the games I beat spent a total of 481.5 hours. The average age of the games at the time I beat them was 343 days, or 0.94 years. And some charts: That data is only counting games I actually beat, games I played but did not complete are not counted in those totals, so I spent more hours than that would represent. On the bar chart the blue bars represent the months in which the games I beat were released, and the red represents the months I actually beat the game. As you would expect the most games were released in November, but apparently I spend the most time playing them in July. Coincidentally July is the only month with no releases among the games I beat. Also a chart of my backlog progress: The blue line is the actual number of games on the backlog, the red is a trendline. There's quite a bit of overlap with the games I beat, but it's not total; I removed games from the backlog whenever I decided I was done playing them, so I didn't necessarily beat every game I removed. Also, if I started playing a game immediately after getting it then I never put it on the backlog in the first place. I find it amusing how obviously Steam sales show up on that chart. The average length of time a game was on the backlog before being removed is 212 days, and the average playtime before removal is 6 hours. Neither of those account for games still on the backlog. CorgiShinobi
I beat Borderlands 2 before it hit midnight for me. For some reason the Fink's Slaughterhouse side quest appeared again. I thought, "Eh, a good opportunity to get some Badass Points." This was the night that I learned Thief Rats steal a percentage of your cash. Because I wasn't being careful, I went from ~$1,033,627 to around $588,000. I doubt I would have gotten to the 3 million mark, but to have lost nearly $500,000 is... Actually, I finished the game so whatever!
Luftwaffles
I beat 16 games this year. Notables include all 3 Mass Effects and both Alan Wake games (although those are short). If only I had kept track of the amount of games I got really close to the end of and never finished, though...
deanb
Okay, gotcha, referring back to your previous posts. It referred back to a post i'd made not half an hour beforehand. @Ethan: how'd you do all that? Backloggery? @Spork: can be simple enough. Even just a .txt file would do. I like Darkadia, just filter to Played & Unfinished and soon gives yoir memory a quick jolt, especially combined with howlongtobeat.com
TheMightyEthan
@Ethan: how'd you do all that? Backloggery? I made an Excel spreadsheet (started at the beginning of the year, so it's not like I did it all last night) and just put in a bunch of formulas for metrics I was interested in. *Edit* - Here are the actual Excel files if anyone's interested: Backlog Games I Beat *Edit 2* - Also, here's my current backlog, in the order in which they were added: The Witcher Alpha Protocol Deus Ex: Human Revolution The Witcher 2 Dragon Age II Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Killzone 3 Dark Souls Prototype 2 Far Cry 3 Lone Survivor Spec Ops: The Line Bioshock 2 Sleeping Dogs The Last Story Thirty Flights of Loving XCOM: Enemy Unknown Transformers: War for Cybertron Anno 2070 The current average age of a backlog entry is 157 days (from the time of adding to the backlog, not the time of release). toxicitizen
I started keeping track of all the games I beat in 2012 but the .txt file somehow slipped through the cracks when I was backing stuff up and was lost to a format. I could probably go back through this entire thread and recreate it somewhat accurately but... yeah, fuck that. Let's just say I beat about 30 games or so. deanb
https://docs.google....NaUzhqenc#gid=0 And here's the link as promised. Same as last time, two sheets, one sorted alphabetically and the other sorted numerically. 385 games, 210 titles. I'm sure if someone was to put the time in we'd even know when the most common time for beating games was, and the clumping of games release dates and so on. I'd say at a quick glance I'd say 2011 games were the most beaten, just in the top 10 alone eight are from 2011 and only two are from 2012 and that's early 2012 at that. This years top games will likely be Assassins Creed 3, XCOM, Dishonored, and Borderlands 2. With maybe a dash of Last of Us. Oh and I'd take a guess that Ethan beat the most games with his 37 beaten. That'd account for roughly 10% of the games beaten, assuming he posted every one up on here. Edited January 2, 2013 by Deanb changing "this year" to 2012, and "Next" to "This".
CorgiShinobi
I'll have to probably look at my collection when I get back home to know which games I didn't mention that I've beaten. I've also had quite a few games I haven't beaten, like Psychonauts and Kingdom Hearts 3D.
