Little Pirate
Got done with the first Mass Effect, already in the process of the second one. Really glad I was introduced to these games.
deanb
Enslaved. All in all an alright game, but with a "run towards the camera" section and the combat was a bit cruddy (the enemies could block, but you had no moves to make them break the block :/). The escort stuff wasn't too bad, especially as she had that Decoy thing which was kinda neat. There was a few moments where she'd normally be able to walk along/jump but the game would want me to go back, pick her up and walk her around/throw her across jumps which did get annoying when that happened. edit: Deathspank Pretty neat game. Nice style, one that'll probably hold up for a fair few years. Tad basic, but the kind of thing I needed.
TheMightyEthan
lol @LittlePirate: you're gonna run into the same problem I did with Uncharted: "Damn! Now I want the third one, but it's still full price! "

Tried getting through that game in October but I got really frustrated.... when you make it back to her village, have to do some bullshit with a windmill, and then it's just waves and waves of mech's attacking you, over and over again. It was trying to be a bit Uncharted like, but it just didn't nail down the formula I think. And for a game that combat focused, the combat could have been improved. I just started a few days ago. I actually dig the escort stuff in this game compared to most every game ever. Except for the same thing you noted: bitch just can't do a lot of easy stuff on her own. Yantelope V2
Revelations is a step down because there's none of the side stuff that previous games have had. There's like 4 or 5 side missions, and that's it. The game just feels rushed. I'm about 13 hours into it (according to Raptr) and I feel like all I've done is build up my guilds. I like that stuff but it seems like there's a bit too much of it now. It's almost down to the micromanaging level and I don't really like how your cities get attacked again. I prefer a more completionist type of game where you just do all the side missions and it's done.
Faiblesse Des Sens
^Would you compare it to the gang area controls in GTA:SA? That was annoying after you had all of them and then somene would come by and try to get them back.

I was also thinking that what dean said didn't sound quite right but didn't comment because it's been quite a while since I played the game and I don't remember specific details. But I was playing the game on hard on my first run and I clearly remember there being a point where combat suddenly got ridiculously frustrating and impossible until I figured out there was a way to break through enemies' defenses. Cyber Rat
Finished Corpse Party on the PSP. Great story, godawful requirements to avoid bad endings...
deanb
It should maybe be noted that I got Enslaved through LoveFilm, so I get sent the disc and only the disc. If there is a block-break attack and it's not mentioned in the game then I won't know Also for those that didn't note earlier I added in some PS buttons to the forum http://forum.pressxordie.com/index.php?showtopic=266&pid=77262&st=0entry77262 (No point on xbox/nintendo ones since they're just letters)
Faiblesse Des Sens
It's totally in the tutorials. I just did this the other day. Instruction manual? What the fuck is an instruction manual?
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, the game taught me the block and I never ever look at manuals.
deanb
Yeah, the game taught me the block and I never ever look at manuals. No, I knew how to block myself (R2/RT). It's breaking the block on the mechs (when they go blue), that was the issue.
TheMightyEthan
Sorry, I meant "block break".

That's the worst bit of the game in my opinion, I gave it up for about half a year at that point. If you get past that it's nowhere near as stupid for the rest of it. TheMightyEthan
I quite enjoyed it. People were right, it was just the first level that was so easy that made it seem like you weren't playing a game. Overall I actually think I enjoyed the 2D levels more than any other previous Sonic game I've played.
Battra92
I quite enjoyed it. People were right, it was just the first level that was so easy that made it seem like you weren't playing a game. Overall I actually think I enjoyed the 2D levels more than any other previous Sonic game I've played. That was fast. I'm beat all the regular acts of the first three zones and now I'm going and beating all the side quests before I move on. Is the game really all that short?
TheMightyEthan
I played it for 4 hours. There are 9 worlds, with 2 acts per world, plus all the challenges. I haven't played many of the challenges yet though.

toxicitizen
Rage. Can someone please explain to me why this game got so much hate when it came out? I remember hearing a lot of people saying it was bad and I understand that the PC version specifically had some issues when it came out. But seriously, what the fuck? It was awesome! It was kinda refreshing to be carrying a complete arsenal around with me. It's not an old-school shooter by any stretch of the imagination, but it was nice to have that classic FPS staple come back. I also really enjoyed the combat. The way the enemies dodge and jump all over the place makes it incredibly fun to blast them in the face with a shotgun. And the punch behind that shotgun is so very satisfying. I used it most of the time, only switching when I was forced to fight long-range. Another thing I liked is that the game just looks amazing. Not so much the graphical fidelity (textures don't look great when you look at them up close) but rather the art design. It's not that it's graphically impressive, it just looks damn good. Especially the final level. It could've been a generic sci-fi/high-tech environment but the attention to detail really made it stand out and gave it some personality. Of course there's the ending. That one kinda pissed me off. Completely anti-climatic and it resolves absolutely nothing. But I thought everything leading up to it was fucking awesome. Overall, it was well worth the 15$ I paid for it during the Steam holidays sale. Edited March 24, 2012 by FLD
deanb
I believe there was an issue with the fact that many thought it was some kind of open world game. And also the sewer things requiring DLC/code thing.
TheMightyEthan
Also, at least imo, it just wasn't fun to play.
