deanb
I'll take that as a hint. I guess I never cared for the game so upon initial reading I hadn't spotted it was spoilerific.
deanb
I have beaten PvZ. Was meant to do it tonight, but ended up on netbook so booted up PvZ now instead of my current plan of polish off FFXIII (which will hopefully be appearing on here soonish). Alex Heat
Just finished Sleeping Dogs. Kinda hoping it gets a sequel. Edited August 26, 2012 by Alex Heat
CorgiShinobi
I didn't really spoil anything other than there are jump scares... Well, I guess partial solutions to near-end puzzles, but one of the great things about Amnesia is that the scares are also contextually based. Â It's not really a linear game, though your goal is to make progress is one direction. Depending on how you go about your path you'll be faced with different scenarios, though in time you'll be able to predict when the game is going to make things difficult. Almost found all the pieces for that puzzle? How about we add a wandering monster in the dark! Your approach is what makes facing these obstacles all the more memorable. Â EDIT: For example, I hadn't quite finished a puzzle yet, but I began progressing further. I entered a hallway area, but then the music for being spotted began playing. I didn't know where it was coming from, but I began to run. I thought I would be safe in the nearest room, but as I turned around whilst in the corner, the monster dashes in and kills me in one hit. Later would I realize that it was the game's way of telling me I went too far ahead. Â And Amnesia isn't simply a "scary" game. It's also quite disturbing. Sorry for anything that seemed spoilerish, just I thought after two years since its release I could post about my experience with one of the best $20 games I've played. TheFlyingGerbil
Now I read back my comment it does seem more snarky than I'd intended. don't worry, it will probably be another two years before I get around to playing it, so I'll have long forgotten any of the jumpy bits/puzzles you mentioned. You certainly haven't spoiled the game. It just made me think of the zombiU demo I watched where   you're in the nursery and a zombie jumps out of the cupboard,   so I know I'l be watching out for that when I play that game now. Mal
Ys Origin  Got the true ending. Holy fuck. Ys Perfect. Most will say Oath is but I feel this really set up the later games perfectly. Of course this games is followed by Ys I and II but it also mentions Ark. Oath actually refers back to the chronological first three Ys. I have no idea about Ys Seven, IV (Remake coming soon) and V (I feel this would be something like Oath, just a tiny reference so I am unsure about a remake) though since I never played them.  Also what happens in the true ending better come to pass in some shape or form. I need to finish a replay of II to see whats up but so far everything is up to canon with I. --- Ys II  I feel that the connections between II and Origin was rather weak. I would say a remake would be appropriate to make everything up to canon. However, the bump system... would be tough to change. Thursday Next
@Ethan and Cowboy RE: Uncharted Golden Abyss   It's an Indiana Jones thing. You always destroy the ancient temple place thing. Although, I don't think you destroyed the place in Uncharted 1 did you?
deanb
WOOOHOOO. I DID IT. I FINALLY FUCKING FINISHED IT!!!! Â Â Â I have an awful habit of getting towards the end of RPGs, especially the "you're now free to wander the world, level up n all that jazz" part. Cos you do just that and it gets a bit grindy. Thankfully FFXIII has the level caps so I basically hit my level cap n thought "fuck it, let's go back n beat Orphan". Especially since it was just a few bossess (three of which were in a row) and some levels with like a couple dozen groups of monsters to beat. Now everything is fully unlocked, including the final level cap, and you can go explore n such so I may do just that. Â Â Now to work out what I want to beat next.
toxicitizen
Spec Ops: The Line  Wow. That was fucking incredible. Whatever Yager makes next, they have my attention.  Oh and I played through Digital: A Love Story yesterday. It was a lot of fun for what's basically a glorified text adventure. Now I think I'll have to grab the current Indie Royale bundle before it ends because the sequel Analogue: A Hate Story is in it.
Mal
Ys IV: Mask of the Sun  More bumping mechanics and this time its old school. The remakes of Ys I an II really spoiled me since those versions worked really well but not so well in this SNES game. I think its just limited experience from the programing team. Overall though, I like it. Some boss battles and progression stuff were kind of screwy though.  Story wise, I can see why a remake is needed. Some of the story really don't add up too well without one.  Now onto Ys V! Which is Japanese only... this will be fun.
TheMightyEthan
Â I really liked it a lot. In fact I'd say I enjoyed it more than GTA, though I'm not quite willing to say I liked it more than GTA.
Mal
I like it too but I think it sort of got stale. I can't bring myself to finish the story now that I pretty much done all the side stories and I am near max level.
Luftwaffles
Â I really liked it a lot. In fact I'd say I enjoyed it more than GTA, though I'm not quite willing to say I liked it more than GTA. Â Probably one of my favorite games of last year. It did get stale, but there was just enough variety for it to still be fun.
toxicitizen
Took me a long fucking time cause I've been playing it kind of on and off since buying it almost two years ago, but I finally beat Super Meat Boy. Still got the Dark Worlds and secret stuff to do, but I completed the "story" mode. Man, that last level before the final boss... Took me almost 2 full hours of trying non-stop to finally beat that one.
MetalCaveman
Dark Souls! Freaking Bed of Chaos was really annoying.
Mal
Ys VI Ark of Napishtim. Â In some ways I think this is the easiest of the bunch that I've played because this is one of the few games where you can go to more high leveled area before you are suppose to. So I did find myself wandering into those places by chance and well, I manage to kill them. It made me 10 levels overpowered for a time. BUT. Then the game will catch up to you and you'll face with a damn hard boss. There are a few optional bosses you can fight too. I skipped one (it should be harder than the last boss which was piss easy) since I can't get to it since I can't manage to do a dash jump on command on the gamepad and with m-kb its clumsy as fuck. I will have to say this is a weakness since this move seems so hard to pull off. Â Story wise, this ties together the previous five (Four since V doesn't seem to deal with the Eldeens*) games. I know Seven doesn't deal with the Eldeens so going off of this game, I think when I play it, Adol will be dealing with the empire who in the last few games has been meddling with the ancients. V deals with another thing too. Â *V sorely needs a remake. Not being able to understand shit is annoying. Hopefully it'll come after the IV remake. VI maybe to update the graphic and game play mechanics a bit to be like Origin since the 3D-ness looks odd.
toxicitizen
Man, you're just blasting through that series. Are the games really short or something?
Saturnine Tenshi
They're shorter than your typical RPG, but not three hours short.
Little Pirate
I've played all the way through every Sam and Max game, except that last episode of Devil's Playhouse. This series never gets old for me, and I've always loved point and click adventure games. Hope they're getting another series soon.
Mal
Man, you're just blasting through that series. Are the games really short or something? For 1-6... They're all roughly 12 hours long, maybe shorter. I haven't beat V yet but I can imagine it being about the same. The longest of the series got to be Origin since it has three characters who also has somewhat alternate move sets that you can unlock. Origin I think can last someone 50 hours if they went for the alt move sets. I can't say anything about Seven since I have yet to try it. Luftwaffles
Sleeping Dogs. Â I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's probably the most derivative game I've ever played, with the combat right out of Arkham City pretty much and everything else taken from open world game cliches, but it was a whole lot of fun, something I can't say about all the games it technically steals from. Totally worth the 25 bucks I paid. Edited September 4, 2012 by Sporkwaffles
Saturnine Tenshi
@Malicious: I need to finish Origin. I think I got stuck somewhere in the dirge+axe lass' path. Haven't tried the magic fella yet. I waited so long for that one to come to PC, too. Â @Thread: I haven't been gaming much this year. At least, not many single-player games. I've been busy, and just not feeling particularly motivated to play anything. Finished: Â Saints Row the Third Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 Atelier Meruru Legasista Uncharted 3 (with my wife . . . though I suppose I played through all of Saints Row the Third with her, too) Magic the Gathering DotP 2013 Â I'm never going to catch up with my queue. I have Torchlight II and the Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition coming out this month.
TheMightyEthan
Â Really liked it a lot. Finished the main game this afternoon, finished the first DLC just now. Can't decide whether to do the final DLC tonight or not.

TCP
Finished the Leviathan DLC. It was pretty good, but considering some of the other $10 gaming experiences I've had, might be best to wait for a PS+ discount.
