Games You've Beat in 2012

Beat The Witcher 2 earlier tonight. Man, that was a great game. I almost feel bad to have waited so long to buy it super cheap.

I didn't think it was significantly better than the original but it improved in a few key area and looks amazing (a bit too amazing for my system, it turned out :( ).

That being said, I thought it had some pacing issues. The story kind of seemed to drag on a bit in Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 kinda lost all the momentum Chapter 2 built near the end. Though I guess the latter might be because of the extra content the Enhanced Edition added.

Also, did the original release not have an epilogue at all? I know the EE added a bunch of content near the end and I remember people complaining about the original release's ending but google didn't turn up much when I tried to find out. I was curious because if you remove the epilogue, then that's one hell of a shitty ending. And the epilogue was mostly just a huge exposition dump anyway, so it kinda feels like it could've been added later.

I assume you mean there are some slides or some sort of recap of what occurred in your playthrough. Sounds like something you got in the EE. Original just has the cutscene with the ladybird or whatever.

I really should download that at some stage, but I've been saving space for new games, and I need to sort out the dozens of TV shows I have on my HDD. Expect an external HDD somewhere in the Post Your Purchases thread in the future...

Xanadu Next

Another Falcom game. Its alright. The art style and setting seriously gives me a Vagrant Story/Demon Souls feel. I can't say I like it since its so mellow. Gameplay wise it is slower than the Ys games and its easier. Music is typical Falcom Soundteam jdk with a mellower twist except for the last boss theme.

My gaming time has been severly cut shot. However I have finished darksiders 2 and tales of graces f(not the extra content just the main game). I am playing through a few vita games when I get the time and should start some of the 3DS games like KH3D soon. I still buy a lot (though lack of time and falling prices mean I wait a bit more for titles i'm not that crazy about).

Just beat Torchlight II.

It's a massive improvement over the original in every conceivable way and at only 20$ it's probably the best value I've had for a game this year (especially considering I traded a CS:GO beta invite for it and didn't have to pay ).

That being said, there was a massive amount of hype built up for it (especially after Diablo 3 came out and lots of people were unhappy with it) and I feel it didn't really live up to it. I'll probably elaborate on my thoughts in the Torchlight thread later.

Did you play the beta? Personally I was realistically hyped up for it because of that. I don't recall huge amounts of hype, really. It's a good game, that's better than D3, but it's not revolutionary. Perhaps you were taking the anti-D3ness that suddenly appeared to mean hype for this game?

I only got to play the beta briefly, not enough for it to make any kind of impression. You're probably not wrong about the anti-D3 sentiments but I've also seen a lot of hyperbole about how much better Torchlight 2 would be. I wouldn't go so far as to say the game disappointed me, though. I just let my expectations get a bit too high, I guess. You pretty much summed it up perfectly: good game, but not revolutionary in the least.

For the entire first act I felt like it was much better than Diablo 3 but about halfway through Act 2 the novelty kinda wore off and I realized it's pointless to even try and compare the two. They're just designed too differently. In some areas, I prefer how Torchlight 2 does things and in others I prefer how Diablo 3 does it.

Beat Assassin's Creed Brotherhood a couple of days ago but only got around to playing the Da Vinci Disappearance DLC today. It was much better than I expected. The DLC sequences in AC2 were kind of all over the place and killed the pacing of the game so it's not like the bar was very high to begin with.

But yeah, unless Steam puts Revelations on sale in the near future, I'm pretty much done "preparing" for ACIII.

After reading people's posts in here I've been finishing off the bits and bobs I had left from Brotherhood and Revelations so I've just been playing the Lost Archive and OH MY GOD THE LASERS.

I can't believe anyone in Ubisoft could have actually played those levels and let them out of the door. Either way I'm completely done with those two games now. I just need to try and find my ACII disc to play the DLC from those and then I'll be completely up to date Assassin's Creed-wise.

I only need to decide if I should get III on PS3 with the exclusive content or Wii U cos I want to support 3rd party sales on it.

Got to an ending in 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. I was gripped the whole game, loved the puzzles and the plot was thrlling to see progress. There's a lot of dialogue and it plays like a visual novel, but its fantastic. I'm playing again now as I got a bad ending and there's like 75% content that I haven't seen.
