Games You've Beat in 2012

I've always wondered if that game was worth getting so it's good to hear you rate it so highly. How long does a single run-through take? Hopefully not too long if it needs several of them to get the most out of it.

God, not that long, maybe 5 or 6 hours tops the first time. The next time you can speed through dialogue you've already read so your playing time is always shorter at the start. its definitely worth getting, although aside from the puzzle rooms, its very visual novel like, but its high quality stuff. Definitely the best story I've played on the DS.

Well, I just beat XCOM on normal difficulty and holy shit is this game fucking fantastic. By far the best game I've played this year.

Actually, the last game I enjoyed anywhere near as much was Deus Ex: Human Revolution and, considering I'm a complete fanatic of the original Deus Ex, that's fairly high praise for XCOM.

Beat RE6 in about 26 hours. It's probably the second best RE game right behind RE4 for me. But in a way, RE as a series isnt all it's cracked up to be in the actual gameplay dept. 1-3 controls like ass and RE5 was a poor rehash of 4 with shitty halfassed co-op. RE6 is hands down the most playable and deepest game in the series and easily beats a few other tps games aside from Vanquish and Dead Space. They also did co-op right. It didnt feel weird to play it by myself. It was still fun and my AI partner didnt fuck my shit up and get in the way, which RE5 did a lot. Ive become less worried about Dead Space 3 now thanks to RE6.

Beat Costume Quest and it's DLC (can't remember the name)

Neat little game, but took a while to get its hook into me. I'm not a fan of the fact the main battle strategy depends upon which "Battle Stamps" you've equipped beforehand, since within battle all attacks are pretty much the same: Either a main attack which requires twiddling the L stick or hitting ABXY when bar hits the right spot. Or a special attack which provides group damage/healing/protection. Which sucks as that takes time to charge and it can be the only way to heal.

It's a pretty good game as a "my first JRPG" though (even more so than Fable is "my first WRPG"), even if it skips over explaining what a DOT is. But other than that it's highly refined, some decent puzzle elements and so on. The DLC was decent too, about 1/3 or so of the length of the main campaign just within a wintery set-up (you're now campaigning for the revolution instead of trick-or-treating).

Beat Sonic Generations on PC! I was actually just at the end before the 2nd and final boss for ages, but there was one challenge I hadn't S ranked that was driving me crazy, Planet Wisp speed run with Modern Sonic. Finally beat it then kicked the bosses asses.

very good Sonic game, although Colours is slightly better.

Gah, rtard.

Ummm... Bit harsh. Besides, "a Damage Over Time" makes no sense. So there. :P

A Damage Over Time Effect if you really want to get technical.

Wait, we're calling Costume Quest a JRPG now? It wasn't even made in Japan!

It's more a case of "we're naming a style of RPG after a geographical region now?" But "now" being decades ago and it stuck. But if I say "JRPG" you understand the mechanics of the battle system in the game in a menu based attack system as opposed to a shooty/slashy affair of most "WRPGs".

The Unfinished Swan.

What a game... a little steep at 15 dollars maybe (you can beat it in probably two or three hours), but I'll probably play it a few more times. It was a similar game game to Journey, in the sense that focused on building emotion and atmosphere instead of gameplay. It also slowly added in danger too, just like Journey. In other ways it reminded me of Ico, in terms of the focus on architecture, and playing as a boy without a family. Over all I think anyone with a PS3 should play it. it's a shame it's being forgotten about, even if had come out a month ago, I think it would have fared better.

Yeah, Trophies may have been late in coming but they're certainly much better than Achievements (Since you can get 10,000 achievements by either playing the opening segment of 100 games or acing 10. That makes for two different gamers). As for Steam I think they don't care n just put in a half hearted effort on that front.
