Thursday Next
Beat Hotel Dusk: Room 215. Loved it. Its an adventure/visual novel, in that you explore the hotel in a 3D environment, but your interactions with characters are visual novel in a nature. The memorable characters, the smart writing, the beautiful rotoscoped sprites, the puzzles, this is top stuff. The way the characters change and develop over the game is just so well written and natural feeling. Its like you are getting to know actual people. Now to get the sequel! I loved both those games. Really enjoyed the noire-esque tone. It felt almost like Silent Hill, but without the supernatural elements. That feeling of isolation, the really strong characters, the atmosphere.

Faiblesse Des Sens
El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron Can't say the story was all that great but the game was beautiful from start to end.
CrowKnow
Beat Arkham City and the Harley Quinn DLC. Great game, great combat.... really refreshing after playing 2 assassin creed games semi-recently. Unfortunately I still remember that big spoiler from.. kotaku? when the game first came out.

toxicitizen
Hitman: Absolution It's not the perfect Hitman game many were hoping it would be and it's certainly no Blood Money, but it's still a damn good game. All the pre-release internet/reddit butthurt over the series being ruined was a bunch of bullshit whining, imho. While I love the idea of a more story-driven Hitman game, it's undeniable that some parts of the campaign are weaker as a direct result of that design decison. A small portion of the campaign really feels more like a standard stealth-action game than a Hitman game. I'd say about a third of it but the campaign is actually pretty long so it didn't seem like that much of an issue to me. It took me a little over 20 hours to beat but I did a lot of restarting whenever I screwed up to get better ratings, so I'd say 15 hours would be a good average for most people. Overall, the improvement-to-sacrifice ratio is pretty even. It disappoints in some key areas but it's absolutely fantastic in just as many. Unless you're one of those gamers who seems to have more fun finding reasons to hate things rather than just trying to enjoy them for what they are, I'd say give it a shot. Especially if you're a Hitman fan.
Little Pirate
Silent Hill: Homecoming. I liked it, really. A lot more than Downpour, which really disappointed me. The monsters in this one had more interesting designs. They weren't really all that symbolic, but they were pretty freaky. At times I thought that they were really trying TOO hard to be freaky... For example, one of the bosses you fight just looks like a cheesy Human Centipede knockoff. But overall, it had a nice creepy atmosphere, had monsters that made you panic when you see them, and the visuals were nice. The voice acting is one the worst flaws of this game, though. The actors sound like they just got out of bed and this is some random side job they just picked up for extra cash. Overall, it felt like an 'okay' addition to the series. I kind of wish Silent Hill would go back to its monsters being symbolic for the characters and not just 'people just want to see some f*cked up sh*t, let's make it as weird looking as we can.'.
TCP
Does this count as beating a game?
TheMightyEthan
I really really liked it, even if the ending was a little anticlimactic. Not sure yet if it's replaced Brotherhood as my favorite. Edited December 1, 2012 by TheMightyEthan
TheMightyEthan
Not worth the $60 price for the Wii U version. It was fun, but there's just not enough to it. Not only does it seem brief, but there's just no depth to it at all. Every single "puzzle" is just "think of a word that fits this description." And before you say no shit, it's Scribblenauts, I mean it's not even in the context of a puzzle, the puzzle will just be "give the soldier something to fight the alien with" and that's it. For every single puzzle in the game. The other ones I'd played had some cool puzzles, like where you had to solve the same thing 5 times in a row but you couldn't reuse words, and where they'd give you two objects and you had to come up with something that combines traits of both of them. This one just seemed really... meh.
Mal
Would you feel better if it was $30 like the PC version?
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, but I'd say even that's too much for what it is. I think $20 would be a good price. *Edit* - And that comment came across way more negative than I meant it to. I enjoyed the game, I just thought it was weaker in a lot of ways than the previous two I've played, I don't think it's worth anywhere close to the $60 asking price of the Wii U version, and that even the $30 PC version is too high. Hot Heart
Halo 4. I enjoyed it. I think they did a really good job in designing most of the encounters when it came to the Covenant. There's enough depth and breadth that they can throw all sorts of things at you, and force you to mix up which weapons you use and how you approach. It makes for a decent challenge, even on Normal. However, the new enemies are just either boring or annoying to fight. Maybe they benefit from playing on a higher difficulty, but I never really felt challenged by them, as long as I kept my distance and used the DMR or Lightrifle, with a close-range weapon for some of the Knights. On the plus side, I'd rather them than the Flood units introduced in 3. I'm not too familiar with Halo lore, so the story was a little confusing, but I got the main thread, and the character focus was well-done. It also had a nice mix of gameplay elements to stop things getting too stale. Though, I think the vehicle sections went a little overboard with the number of enemies/waves (have another Ghost, and another, and another!) My main complaints would be that some of the art direction renders certain scenery and enemies too flat (though the 360's age probably hinders the crispness a little), with Grunts now just grey blobs, and sometimes there's just too much shit on the HUD. I appreciate that they're really trying to put you inside MC's helmet, but I found it fairly annoying.
TheMightyEthan
I never played on Normal, but on both Heroic and Legendary I'd say the Prometheans are definitely harder than the covenant (well, the Knights anyway, the Crawlers are easy on any difficulty, but that's because they fulfill the "fodder" category for the Promethans).
MetalCaveman
Halo 4, it was fun, felt a bit short, but it was a lot of fun, first time I play on Legendary right from the start (I usally go with normal or easy ) but since I was playing coop with my cousin I didn't notice much challenge from enemies, except on the last part. That ending left me though. I think I eve cried a little. The Promethean weapons were really cool though, even if I never understood what their grenade is supposed to do. Loved the bit where you pilot a... Whatever it's name is, they should make a game based around that, it was awesome! \m/ \m/
Hot Heart
I never played on Normal, but on both Heroic and Legendary I'd say the Prometheans are definitely harder than the covenant (well, the Knights anyway, the Crawlers are easy on any difficulty, but that's because they fulfill the "fodder" category for the Promethans). I guess they actually try and close in more on higher difficulties, or use cover when their shields are down? Most of the time I could just keep shooting them from a distance and they couldn't really do anything except die. With the Covenant, they've got snipers, sneaky guys with swords, Grunts with fuel rod cannons alongside Jackals with shields, etc. I do really want to try the game on Legendary, but not solo. Seems too much like unnecessary punishment. Anyway, now that the campaign is done...who's up for Spartan Ops?
TheMightyEthan
I thought the same thing about Legendary, but once I actually did it I had an easier time than I did on Heroic, I think because playing Heroic taught me the strategies to approach each enemy type so I played Legendary smarter than I did on my first run. But yeah, the Knights GTFO as soon as their shields go down.

CrowKnow
Recently beat Binary Domain and Spec Ops the line... Binary Domain was a solid game, even if the characters were a bit stereotypical.
