  1. 1. Will you buy Borderlands 2?

    • Definitely!
    • Probably at/around launch
    • Probably, at some point (if goes on sale and I need a new game)
    • Probably not
    • No.
  2. 2. If you buy it, what system will you buy it for?

    • PC
    • PS3
    • Xbox 360
    • There is absolutely no way I'm buying it.

Enjoyed the first one a lot, so I'm definitively looking forward to the sequel, I'll try to buy it when it's released though I don't know if that'll be possible. :P

I played the first Borderlands on my 360 since back then I didn't have a gaming PC but this time I'll probably buy it on PC. :P

Borderlands 1 is an example of poor game design throughout: it's got a bad story, it has technical issues, it has one of the worst interfaces I've ever had the displeasure of using, it's unfocused, it's grindy, it's repetitive, etc. etc. etc. YET I still put 30 or 40 hours into it for the co-op fun. This is why I'm cautiously optimistic over BL2: it has the opportunity to take the great concepts from the first game and actually get the execution right this time around.

EDIT: I forgot to mention BL has the worst final boss of all time--OF ALL TIME.

[[blasphemy cut]] YET I still put 30 or 40 hours into it for the co-op fun. This is why I'm cautiously optimistic over BL2: it has the opportunity to take the great concepts from the first game and actually get the execution right this time around.

I'll end up doing what I did with the original... waiting 18 months after launch, buying it and all the DLC off the PSN for 15 dollars.

Playing it alone just reminded me of a poor mans Fallout 3. Like Ethan, I got into it too late.

I'll start by saying that this is my own opinion and that I'm talking about by own taste...but as much as I loved Borderlands, I can't imagine putting a lot of time into it or enjoy it all that much if I wasn't playing with friends. But I thought it was an absolutely fantastic co-op game. Me and three other friends played so much that we ended up grinding solo at level 50 (and later the other maxes) for loot when other people couldn't play...but only because we cared that much about finding and sharing our new guns with other. (And by share, I mean "show-off".)

Anyway, I really liked the game, if you couldn't already tell...the art style, sense of humor and co-op fun made me very willing to turn a blind eye to issues in the name of fun.

EDIT: I forgot to mention BL has the worst final boss of all time--OF ALL TIME.

Which one? Pre-DLC? Yeah...the boss was not a highlight of the game. Crawmerax was fun. Or whatever the giant purple lobster guy was called.

Yeah Borderlands was pretty messed up (definitely not helping I played the terribad PC port) but it was fun for co-op. My main issue would be it's kinda hard to co-op something that long. Any attempt at playing it with guys in the Steam group tend to fail rather quickly.

That's my problem. I loved the game, and didn't have too many issues with the porting, but I've got 3 different characters across 2 different platforms each sitting at around level 40, and I'm yet to finish the game on any one of them. Between those 3 characters, I think I've probably played the game with upwards of 10 different people. I personally really enjoyed it, but I feel the magic of the co-op is lost when it's very difficult to get through the entire game with one or two other people.

Like everyone else, alone the first was bland. I tried hard to have friends play with me, but most of the game I did it solo. There are certain elements I enjoyed of the game, and perhaps because I'm use to playing solo I was able to tolerate it more.

But if I am getting the sequel, I need to have co-op partners.

I wouldn't say Borderlands has the worst final boss, but the ending is absolutely terrible. It's one of the few games where I've gone online to make sure I didn't anything because the conclusion feels so frickin' hollow.

Hated the first one, probably not getting the second one unless they fix a LOT of stuff. And to all the people who are saying that even if it's a shitty game, it's cool in coop mode... every game is better with friends. Because you're playing with friends. They make shit better. It's still shit tho.

I hated the first one. Like someone else said, on single player it's like a super fantastic awful shitty version of Fallout 3. I hope they add a single player this time around.

Or bots that will crack jokes with me and talk with me about life, work, family, games and stuff like that while we play. I'm cool with either.
