deanb
A fair chunk of us are newbs (though I'm getting decidedly less so, but still plenty of rookie mistakes to make). Likely if we get a fair chunk of people we'll probs play in teams and thus able to team up newbs and veterans.
Luftwaffles
I'd do it. Can't guarantee I'd be able to make it with work and all, but I'd definitely try.
toxicitizen
So, I finally sunk some time into Gods & Kings. Played something like 30 hours over the past week, across a number of games most of which ended in shameful defeat (turns out I wasn't quite ready for Prince difficulty). I switched back to Warlord and that turned out to be WAY too easy. I got a pretty amazing starting spot, so that might've played a big part of it. But near the end absolutely nothing was happening so I became bloodthirsty and declared war on all my neighbors out of sheer boredom. I was going for diplomatic victory... I stopped after I won that one because I didn't want to get completely burnt out on the game before Brave New World. But yeah, kind of an awkward spot to be in. Either stick to Warlord and be bored or switch to Prince and get systematically destroyed until I step up my game. :/ Edited May 23, 2013 by FLD
Mister Jack
Maybe play on prince with a custom setup that gives you some breathing room? Like being separated by islands or something.
Waldorf and Statler
FLD if you ever feel like playing we could make a Prince match with islands/continents
toxicitizen
Yeah, I'll have to experiment a bit. I already did a little. I still end up way behind in score, tech, military, etc... Basically, there's something fundamentally flawed in my play and I need to find out exactly where I go wrong and how. And Wally, like I said, I'm taking a bit of a break from the game until BNW but once I start playing again we could try and set something up. I've never been too keen on Civ multiplayer but whatever, could be fun.
Waldorf and Statler
You broke my heart kiddo. You broke my heart. And fine by me I was just offering lol.
toxicitizen
What? Did I phrase that poorly? I was saying that when I'm ready to play again, I would be down to try and set something up. Edited May 24, 2013 by FLD

deanb
I'm always up for a bit of Civ V (assuming I'm around, busy week next).

Mr. GOH!
This has gotten some good reviews. Guess it's time to dust off the ol' Steam copy of Civ V. http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/sid-meiers-civilization-v-brave-new-world/critic-reviews
Connorrrr
I got it a few days ago, and I'm at that point with Civ V that I get so burnt out before I even get to the medieval period that I'm not really seeing any benefits from the new features in this game yet. I dunno, at some point maybe I'll start a game in the industrial era or whatever but maybe the promise of new things in the mid-to-late game and stuff just isn't enough to keep me slogging through the early game anymore. TheMightyEthan
I specifically stopped playing Civ V a couple months ago so that wouldn't happen to me.
toxicitizen
Yeah, I was getting back into the game about a month ago and made myself stop after a week so I wouldn't get burnt out before BNW. Didn't want a repeat of G&K where I bought it at launch and ended up not playing it for an entire year. Then BNW came out and I didn't buy it in favor of getting more games in the sale. Funny how that works...
Mr. GOH!
Brave New World is tremendous.
deanb
They've updated Civ III (2001) with Steamworks: http://steamcommunity.com/games/3910/announcements That's some long tail support, it pre-dates Steam for one.
Mr. GOH!
Shouldn't that be posted in the Civ III thread, Dean? I wonder if my Civ III discs still even work.
Baconrath
If other games can prevent my mouse from going to my second monitor, why can't Civ V and BE?
Nexus
The step up from level 4 to 5 is horrific. Screw you Bismarck.
