jimmuhpage
I don't know if we should have different threads for different platforms, but I'm down for playing the demo's multi on Xbox right now. Just add my gt.
Vargras
I've got it on PC. Same name as here.
TheMightyEthan
I'm up for playing it on 360, I'll probably be on from 6 or 7 GMT tonight onward. Apparently you can't set a beacon for it though, which is stupid. Edited February 17, 2012 by TheMightyEthan
SixTwoSixFour
PS3...? Anybody...?
Hot Heart
I can play on any of the available platforms. Although, I'd have to download the demo on PS3. Plus, I'm not a huge fan of the controller (don't start that again). I'll probably be on PC in a short while. Origin name is: HotHeart. EDIT: Managed to play a game with Vargras (and another of my friends) and we were kicking butt. Well, Vargras was. The rest of us were just sweeping up the remains. Really need at least 3 people (of a decent level) to give it a shot, even on Bronze level though. Which is a shame. TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I was just trying to play with one of my friends, and we couldn't figure out how to join a public game together, and we couldn't ever get past level 7 with just the two of us. It's doable with two, but having a higher level player definitely helps. Like with my game with HotHeart, I was playing my 17 Sentinel (Turian, awwww yeah), while HotHeart and his friend were both in the single digits. deanb
Balllllllssss. So yeah this kinda sucks. The text and voice chat don't work. Now no voice I can live with. But no text chat as even a back-up? That's no fun. I have pull, which means I can pull the riot shields off folks. Unfortunately I couldn't communicate this so folks would just shoot at them, thus pushing the guys out of my range. The store is a bit balls too, and seems there's no way to un-equip power weapons. Which because ammo is one time use on the special weapons and there's no way (that I can see) to directly purchase ammo (there's only lucky dip "Recruit Pack" n "Veteran Pack") you end up having to scroll past a useless weapon. Same works with medi-gel which I didn't expect. So I got to revive myself once. And that's is cos I can't buy medi-gel, only randomly win it. As far as actual game goes, standard wave gameplay. Takes a bit of getting used to the really close third person camera but other than that it's a TPS, you shoot shit, they die. You occasionally ram into them, or pull them from cover. So yeah, I'm not a fan
TheMightyEthan
I'm fine with the random packs for consumables like medigel or ammo packs, but I do not like them one bit for getting new weapons and characters. Just tell me how much the specific gun I want costs, and let me buy that specific gun when I have enough. *Edit* - @Vargras: yeah, I was level 12 and he was level 2. It shouldn't be an issue though, cause they should have done two things: 1) scale the difficulty to how many players there are, and 2) made it so you can join public games as a party. Something I have sorta noticed is that, if you want a shot at more customization options, or race/class options, the Recruit packs are the better choice. You also get more consumables. For mods and weapons, the Veteran packs seem like the better bet. That's how I got my Carnifex (which I'm pretty sure is considered rare. The outline on it was gold, rather than silver for uncommons).
jimmuhpage
See, I only upgraded the default classes with recruit packs. Granted, I've yet to unlock any class at all with Veteran packs, but I'd assume other races would be uncommon or rare. The Bioware forums have a couple threads about this (most people dislike the system, but some feel it forces you to vary your game, with the word "force" being used in a good light...), and quite a few of them said they unlocked other races with veteran packs. I just wanna play as an alien, at this point, I don't even care which one...
Hot Heart
I quite like the random nature of the unlock things. Can usually get a rocket and a medi-gel from a pack each time. Plus, it takes me back to packs of football cards/pogs/Pokémon cards. Playing Soldier on 360 with a varied team (Engineer, Sentinel and Adept), I got a better feel for the game. I think it helped that we all clicked rather well too, without any need for communication. Rarely needed a medi-gel either because the team was tight. There's a lot of need for flanking as well as combined power usage to really be effective, but that comes with knowing the map and spawn points. For example, where I was playing Vanguard before, my friend was an Infiltrator but not a very aggressive one and I never felt like I had anyone watching my back. Plus, it was really easy to lose my bearings...
deanb
There's little to work towards though with a random box. I'd like a random box + purchasable items. Especially if the items to buy were the single use stuff like missiles and medi-gel.
Hot Heart
True, it probably would be nice to have that option. Especially since the full game will probably be mixing in more items (customisation stuff seems absent, to me). Customization is present, but in the demo, you can only unlock it from the Recruit packs. You'll get an item for one of the characters. Gives that class some bonus exp and unlocks a new customization option. Based on the wording, there's probably gonna be more.
Hot Heart
I meant the extra cosmetic stuff, which I'm guessing was kept limited or just left out of the demo. I did get some of those packs with a character thing in. Never for one I was playing though, so I didn't check to see if I got some new options there. Usually it was weapons and mods. That's what I meant too. You unlock a new option every time you get a card for that class/race combo. My human female vanguard has every option except lights so far. TheMightyEthan
I'm with dean, I'd like them to have specific purchases in addition to the random box (although I'm fine with consumables only being in the random box). I mean, they could make it so you can buy a pack for 20k credits with a chance of unlocking a new race/class combo, or you could just straight up pay 50k or 75k to unlock it directly. Hell, they could even make it so you can't specifically buy race/class combos till certain levels, but you could unlock them from the random box at any time. I just don't want relying on a random box to be my ONLY way to unlock the race/class I want to play. It's like the Steam Christmas sale: it seems like a cool idea at first, but then it gets frustrating because you only ever unlock shit you don't want. TheMightyEthan
Yeah, in the same way that unlocking the same gun again gives it an upgrade, unlocking the same race/class combo again unlocks some more visual customization options and gives it an XP boost. Yep. Unlocking the same race/class combo gets you 12,500 exp for free. Unlocking a new one gets you 50,000.
Hot Heart
Damn, that was evil. I had my quick search set to bronze while trying out a Sentinel and somehow my second game was a silver challenge one. My first ever. I thought things were a bit tough but I only twigged what was going on late into the game when two freakin' Phantoms appeared. At the end there were 3 Atlases (Atlasi?!) gunning for the LZ. THREE! I was definitely not ready for that, and I don't think I'm very good at playing Sentinel, but I think I only died 4 times (I thought that was pretty good for a newbie level 6 dude). So, yeah, finished the game thanks to some amazing work by a couple of high level Infiltrators. One was a Salarian with some sort of ability to one-shot any human enemy (presumably only with a headshot), that looked a bit like Carnage. Shame the game and Origin aren't up to speed for sending messages or whatever, at the moment.
TheMightyEthan
I've had a couple times where I've searched for bronze, but then once the lobby fills up the host switches to silver and starts the game.
Hot Heart
Ah, that's probably what happened. All I noticed was one party member disappearing and then suddenly being replaced by someone else. Sneaky.
Vargras
I keep getting everything BUT Krogan Soldier. I've gotten three rare weapons thus far - Carnifex, Revenant, and now a weapon new to ME3, the Hornet. It's apparently the SMG Cerberus uses, three-round burst on it. Have yet to try it.
