I honestly don't really see a point to a reputation system. I can't actively see reputations below the name of everybody that posts and yeah, if somebody is a massive pain in the ass you could just report them to mods. It WAS nice to see when people heavily disagreed with someone [and by someone, it usually meant Battra lol]

Hm... I didn't see such a problem with people downvoting and not replying, but of course I don't have a log of every action on here. It seemed way better than say, Reddit, where if you can't bring a convincing counterpoint you just hit and run.

Personally, I feel that if your rep can only go up, it's not really meaningful anymore - before, your average could move up and down and overall you'd see how well received a person was on here. Now it's more like Gamerscore where it's a mix of how popular you are, how much you post and how long you've been here - you could be way ahead just because your account is older. You could also just spam all sorts of stuff all day and over time, your score would climb even if you really irritated people other times. I also kind of admired posters like FDS who had a significant negative score, but since it's just a number, they kept speaking their minds and aren't auto-hidden or anything.

Also, I kind of liked voting for the sake of the post's content, not to stamp my name on it for everyone to see that I approved.

It looks like I'm in the minority... but you can't downvote me now! hah! :P

I knew I meant to do something when I shifted over the system (There's a drop down box for which system, then a bunch of toggles for minor tweaks). Right, as of now "Likes =/= Reputation". Likes are sort of for posts only. Now it's technically still counting it all up in the background cos the system does need to keep track of these things, but other than that the user itself isn't getting Reputation points for Liked content, cos yeah that's a bit silly. So no scores for anyone, cos that's not what the Like system is meant to be.

However I have still left on the "Liked Posts" (kinda neat that changed of its own since it's a plug-in) tab on your profile so if you want to see who has Liked which posts without having to manually check all your posts, then you can. Just if you want to count it all up together then you'll have to manually work it out.

Boy I didn't know the rep system was so eh disputable. I think to be fair numbers were a bit unfair I suppose. However we're all adults and I don't really see any effect from cumulativeness unless people specfically wanted to get upvotes or downvotes.

I will tell you what could have been the psychological issue for some and that's the fact that the downvotes were red. I don't think everyone here's so young that all assignments were done via the computer. Most of us still remember the red crosses from school which when connected with a minus brings forth some interesting results perhaps.

I'm just speculating. I think if it was light-blue people would have had less issue. I tell you, dark red and other bright colours like that indicate more anger/negativity etc. Green is always neutral and blue is cooler if both were of a similarish shade I doubt anyone would care to be fair. Just my two cents from working with colours a lot : )

They're potentially changeable, but I'm not overly good at the whole web-coding side of things (I'm learning and improving over time: see PXOD new Reviews box thing). It's why the forum looks like this, whereas on the same software the Minecraft forum looks like: http://www.minecraftforum.net/

It is the negative and positive feedback stuff leading to issues. Especially when people would give a post a negative reputation without joining in the discussion, it'd lead to people going on personal witch hunts, normally aiming their anger at those they're in discussion with thinking that they're the ones giving negative rep when many times that's not the case. (now you can all see the names alongside Likes you'll be able to easier see one side of this). So it leads to people getting their hackles needlessly raised and a bunch of negativism. Maybe it's just confirmation bias, but I would say that there's less antagonism flowing about in some of the more contentious threads.
