I have spent quite a bit the past month or so.

After using my work laptop for personal stuff a bit figured that maybe I do need a laptop, my main 'battlestation' is fine n all but want something a bit more portable. So got this in the sales:

Acer Nitro 5

It's not gonna blow any games away given it's a budget gaming laptop, but it's not much more than a regular person laptop for the ability to play a few games on the go. I'd eyed up the Dell G3 or the HP...something or other too. Kinda preferred the less gamery look of the Dell but at £70 more for the same guts I wasn't that preferred :P

I also got this the other day in a weird flash sale thing:

Tic Watch E

It's a low end smart watch but all the guts of a high end one, mainly being cheap on the feel really. Oh and doesn't work for swimming which tbh isn't a huge issue for me :P Still runs full Wear OS n shiz. Mainly gotten issue with a fitbit that's a bit spare now :P

And more importantly gotten a sparkly new passport so I can have some valid photo id for getting a mortgage.

s300_passport.jpg

shame it's likely useless in 3 months :P

The process is so vastly changed these days too, i remember looking at updating my passport when I was 18 and there was loads of forms n stuff. Now I could get a coded photo from photobooth that means I still have the 4 original photos, and could do it all online mainly just telling them my old passport number.

@TheMightyEthan I hope you're using all your spare time to encourage your cat to sit on that.

@deanb what're your plans with a mortgage if that's not too personal?

@TheFlyingGerbilI've had a help-to-buy ISA set up since January this year, so got a fair nest egg built up so far. I also got some help from grandparents as a semi-distant relative passed last year so I'm at about 15% deposit now but been recommended to go with traditional 10% and use the excess for covering fees, repairs, surprises etc. I had been put in contact with a mortgage adviser through a work client and he's been helpful though had to postpone things a bit cos of like lacking passport and it being xmas n all the bother that comes with that. I'm kinda just letting him pick out mortgage choice cos I find there's way too many choices n minor variances that all seem the same (I now know what it's like when recommended PC parts n such to family members).

Hopefully I'll have a new place come February/early March if all goes to plan.

Yup, though the surface of the tablet has a similar feel to paper (kinda) the pen is way thicker than the pencil I use and the buttons on it are something that takes some time to get used to as they really change how you hold it. There's been other things but those probably won't bother most people as they are related to me being a lefty. :P  The biggest difference is getting used to drawing without looking at the surface you're drawing on, drawing on the tablet while looking at the screen can be quite the challenge though I feel like I'm getting used to it faster than expected.

Another thing is getting used to whatever software you use, its shortcuts*, tools and other stuff, I've been using Krita as it's free and though I'm sticking to the standard pencil brush thingy, taking a look at some of the other options available is quite a thing. :P

*It's pretty cool that the buttons on the tablet are already programmed for certain things like eraser, undo and brush/pencil select. :P

I feel like it's still a bit early to give a solid/more thorough impression on it, but so far I've enjoyed my time with it. :P

Got one of these Adruino electronic kit thingies from Wish.

Only had a minor tinker with it, but absolutely amazed with the amount of stuff that came in it considering it was like £17. I remember in school having to pay like 50p a pop for the LEDs used in craft projects and here there's like a trillion of them never mind the LCD displays, USB connectors, and the fecking arduino as well.

Even if I get bored with it it's all fairly simple fare and breadboard stuff so quite reusable so I can easily pass along to younger siblings.

Also been buying up nerdy cufflinks from Wish cos my mum got me some shirts that use cufflinks. So far gotten Jedi Order ones and today got Iron Man mask ones.

Do you think you'll move more over to digital now you have the tablet or do you think that you'll keep a mix of traditional media in there.

I'll probably keep a mix, I enjoy using both and they both have their advantages and uses. :P \m/ \m/

I buy figurines quite often. This time I got something related to gaming:

While I have some misgivings about Garnet's head but when I think back, these are pretty damn close to the in-game models.

And what I would give to be able to model out the ending to FFIX.

Lastly... GIVE ME STEINER AND BEATRIX!

Spoiler

And I guess Vivi for Dean.

Overkill for my needs? Maybe but if shit hits the fan on my main desktop (I feel it's the GPU but I guess I have the onboard CPU's GPU to have it still running) then I'll have something to work with that's not god awful slow. Hopefully it'll last me a while. I can also use it on the go. Hell, I'm shipping it to the hotel that I'll be at for two weeks

Let's try uploading photos directly to the forums since imgur uploading on mobile is shit.

Anyhow, I can finally get a quality figurine for one of the GOAT shows: Fullmetal Alchemist! Elric Brothers at their prime. I avoided the typical Nendos for a long time just waiting for something like this to drop (in January). I actually only post a fraction of figurines that I buy. I actually have enough pre-ordered to be irresponsible. They are not just plastic resins. They represent ideas. For this purchase is for just how much I love and think FMA is badass. Also brotherly bond.

I love pixel art. You can take it as complicated (say my avatar) or simple as you want (say the cover to the artbook or beyond to 8-bit). You can restrict the color palette or not.  You can take into account the display (like many SNES and other games took into account CRTs) or not (straight ports/emus).

It's contemporary pixel art and I got an artbook about it. It's in Japanese so it's not much more than pictures to look at and artists to follow.
