Hot Heart
Had a busy day today, getting ready for my friend's wedding. As well as a haircut I got... - Loafers from Marks & Spencers £25. I needed some new smart shoes anyway and that's a good price - Shirt from Next. £30. The wedding is smart-casual but I needed a shirt that didn't look too work-like or too casual. It was tough finding something! Teal one here, if you need a picture: http://www.next.co.uk/x48404s5 - 110 Euros It was an expensive day. Battra92
Ouch! Well, at least you'll look snazzy! I picked up some more fountain pen inks because I'm weird like that. I wanted to try Diamine inks as they are cheap and have some nice colors (or colours since they are British made.) The one I'm most interested in using? Oxblood. Hot Heart
Thanks, Battra. In the end, I did look incredibly snazzy, if I must say so myself. Ordered Volume 5 of the deluxe editions of Y: The Last Man, which I believe shall wrap up the story. Looking forward to it.

CorgiShinobi
Completed Gurren Lagann collection and got to indulge in Adventure Time. Truly, I am what's hip and what is happening. B)
Hot Heart
Bought the first two 'volumes' of Batman: TAS. Meant to buy them ages ago but the DVD releases have been so stupid and I had to do some 'research' to figure out what had what on them. So, I have bought 'Batman Animated Season 1' and 'Batman DC Collection Volume 2'. These should help in the wait for Arkham City.
Luftwaffles
Razer Deathadder, Microsoft Sidewinder X4, and ( ) Monster Earbuds. I usually don't like Razer or Monster all that much (think their stuff is generally overpriced), but I needed new earbuds bad and the mouse + keyboard were pretty much gifts to myself. I'm curious to see how long the earbuds last, though. I usually burn through about one pair every 2-3 months, and then warranty them, and then warranty the replacement pair, but if these Monsters last me as long as a friend says they will perhaps I will have changed my mind about them. TheFlyingGerbil
what on earth do you do to your earphones that they only last 2-3 months?
MasterDex
I picked up the commemorative edition of Necronomicon today, purely an impulse buy but you can never go wrong with Lovecraft.
Yantelope
what on earth do you do to your earphones that they only last 2-3 months? Corrosive skin or probably just bad taste in music?
TheFlyingGerbil
so the earphones committed suicide? Interesting, maybe as they evolve they will learn they can strangle their host with their cords and live on themselves.
Luftwaffles
I floss my teeth with them. Really, though, I have no idea. I use them everyday, mostly on the bus and with my phone, but it's definitely not anything out of the ordinary, nor is my music even all that loud. I think I just have awful luck with headphones, as I've gone through about 4 pairs a year since high school.
Battra92
Bought a lot on my vacation: Got this for my "nephew" and for myself I got: A book on railway engines (I forget the title) and one of these: I also got a fountain pen converter to use bottled ink in the above Lamy Safari. TheFlyingGerbil
Is yours that cool colour? I have a black Lamy pen. Do you have thomas the tank engine in the USA? It's pretty popular over here
Battra92
Yes and Yes! It cost like £1 more because (I guess) it's an LE color style. I almost bought the white one and I still might but with a different nib but I own WAY too many pens right now. I got it at the very posh Pen Shop on Oxford street. The guy didn't seem all that interested in helping me and was more interested in serving some guy in a fancy business suit. The irony is he spent about £5 on a cartridge refill (all the while talking to his wife on his cell phone and being quite rude) while I spent £15 on the pen plus a couple more for the ink converter. Oh well, it still ended up cheaper than buying it from JetPens (whom I normally recommend whole heartedly!) We also have Thomas the Tank Engine over here in the States. I was really into it as a kid and even got the first couple seasons on DVD (thank goodness for a region free DVD player!) but the new episodes have neither nostalgia nor railway accuracy. My nephew (who is really just a close friend of my wife's son) is turning two and his mother is all about reading to him so I thought it would be cool for him to be read the real stories and not the "let's make a new toy to sell" that the franchise is about now.
Hot Heart
Went into town today and grabbed some DVDs. Gilmore Girls - Season One (this is a birthday gift for my sister and the main reason I went into town) Four Lions Gentlemen Broncos Both the other two were £3 each. Four Lions is brilliant and Gentlemen Broncos is by the guy who did Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre, two films I liked, so I figured it was worth the risk. Tomorrow, I think I shall be making an evening visit to the same place to grab a PS3 console bundle they have there (and subsequently trading in all the games in it). TheFlyingGerbil
Is Thomas the Tank engine narrated by Ringo Starr in the US version? Edit: I really need to watch napoleon dynamite again - I can't decide whether I like it or not. CorgiShinobi
This was the highlight of my day, and probably one of my best purchases. If you take a gander online, you'll see that the average asking price of this box set in Brand New condition is over $300. Pfft, I really enjoy the Tenchi Muyo OVAs, but not "$300" much. Likewise, "Used" is still a bit pricey. Sometimes it's as low at $70, though the condition is probably around "good." There are times were you can find someone who actually took very good care of their DVDs and $80-$90 doesn't seem that bad when compared to $349.99. Anyway, to the point, I was at my local FYE yesterday and there in the Used Anime aisle was this exact box set. The price: $60! I didn't go for it right away because truthfully I couldn't spring for a $60 DVD purchase. Most of the time "$60+DVD" doesn't equal "justifiable" in my mind. Last time I did that was back in '06 for the FLCL Ultimate Edition DVD box set. I love FLCL, in case you didn't know. However, FYE has a free trial of their "Backstage Pass VIP" program where you get 10% off purchases. The membership is $11.99 /month, so yeah I never bothered with it. However, a free trial also comes with some coupons. The only good one was the "30% off a Used DVD" coupon. So here's the breakdown: $59.99 with 10% discount: $53.99 $53.99 with 30% discount: $37.80 Sales taxes: $2.59 Total: $40.39 Oh, but I also traded in my two volumes of Tenchi Muyo. I mean, I'm getting the box set after all. 40.39 - 4.38 = 36.01 Yes, I got the box set for $36.01! That's a few cents high of 40% off!
Battra92
AWESOME! I wish I could upvote your purchase more than once. Great show and I hope you enjoy it. **has flashbacks to when the phrase "digital bikini" was common in anime circles**

TheMightyEthan
I want a Kindle, but I'm holding out to see if v2 of the Fire has storage expansion slots.
TheFlyingGerbil
I've never understood why there wouldn't be an expansion slot in gadgets. It's what's putting me off buying a WP7 phone at the moment. I can see why apple do it so they can sell their different memory sized models. but in products where there is only one version all you're doing is annoying potential customers. It must be really easy and cheap to shove in a memory slot, and is a real 'quick win'
