Luftwaffles
Ethan: That is my thoughts every time my friends picks up 30 dollar headphones every other month. What on earth are your friends doing to their headphones? As someone who buys a new pair every 1-5 months, I have no idea. They just break a lot. TheMightyEthan
Maybe I'm just weirdly gentle with mine, but I've never had a pair that lasted less than several years.
Luftwaffles
Maybe I'm just weirdly gentle with mine, but I've never had a pair that lasted less than several years. What headphones do you have now? I will gladly test that out if they're earbuds.
TheMightyEthan
idk, just some cheap Philips ones. Before that I was using the default iPod earbuds.
CorgiShinobi
I also had some cheap Philips, but then again, they weren't earbuds. I've never particularly been a fan of earbuds, but I had the other style that lasted me for five years. Now I either use my Logitech headset or when I'm away from home... these pair of "sports" earbuds that hook around your ear.
Luftwaffles
I'm curious to see how long the earbuds last, though. I usually burn through about one pair every 2-3 months, and then warranty them, and then warranty the replacement pair, but if these Monsters last me as long as a friend says they will perhaps I will have changed my mind about them. Quoting my own post from approximately 6 months ago, the set of Monster earbuds I bought back in October died about 2 weeks ago. So I caved and bought this pair of Ultimate Ear's from Amazon, as they're really one of the only large headphone brands that I haven't tried yet. If they survive longer than the 8 months an old set of Thinksounds did, they'll be the new record holder.
Hot Heart
Sisters' birthdays coming up so grabbed some presents for one. - 30 Rock: Season 4 - Thursday Next books 2 and 3 (since she liked the first I got her) And, even though you can sense the quality dropping, I figured £10 was a decent price for season 5 of The Office. TheFlyingGerbil
keep meaning to get 30 rock on dvd as they showed a few episodes on normal tv and i liked it but then it disappeared. I think they just cancelled it so I'm hoping they'll release a complete set.
TheMightyEthan
I've started using my old laptop as an htpc, so I wanted a keyboard with a touchpad mouse that I could use from the couch.
Strangelove
I didn't buy all these today, ive been buying them every couple of weeks. I just wait til I see a "like new" or "very good" condition copy on Amazon that's under $10 and with prime shopping and snatch it up. Now I just need 2, 8 and 9 to complete my own personal Simpsons collection. Im also not willing to get them used from anywhere but Amazon since most online places that sell used dvds dont bother telling you what condition theyre in. Gohastings has really good prices on these, but no details. Im just not the type to buy and return stuff online. Seems like a hassle to me. TheMightyEthan
glyde.com tells you conditions, and I've had good luck buying games through it. Never bought DVD's though.
Strangelove
Glyde takes way too long. Not to mention that ive had mixed luck with them. Some dude canceled on me when I got a dvd from there. I even used a coupon and everything. Anyways, he got banned from selling on the site. I guess this wasnt the first time he had done that. Which im glad because you really shouldn't be allowed to back out of selling your shit. Not to mention that Amazon has spoiled me since it doesn't charge taxes(yet) and I have free 2 day prime shipping.

TheFlyingGerbil
It's actually white, but looks cream in the picture. If it toasts the bread that evenly it will be some sort of miracle. It's really hard to get a nice 4 slice 2 slot toaster, the dearer ones tend to be 4 individual slots, but they're no good for tall bread. With the 2 long slots you can lay/lie* the toast down on its side. I don't know why it's so hard to make a toaster that fits bread in it as that is their SOLE PURPOSE. it's not like people can't accommodate a toaster that is 5cm taller in their kitchen. Jesus, I'm actually riling myself up about it. pretty pathetic. lol. *I swear I've looked up which word to use a million times but it just won't stick in my head

TheFlyingGerbil
It just won't stick in my head and I can't be bothered looking it up every time. I would for something important, but toast doesn't count as that. edit: that sounds really bitchy. I was nt supposed to. It's nice of you to do that, TME Edited May 15, 2012 by TheFlyingGerbil

Battra92
We got an Oster toaster for the wedding shower that goes on the same concept. It's especially nice since I bake my own bread a lot of times and the slices are too big for regular toasters. Of course, they are designed around shit like Wonder Bread so they are defective by design. Anyway, the wife and I are going to be buying these this week: I envy the chest freezer my parents have. They bought it when they were caterers but now they just use it for buying in bulk. You could fit a whole side of beef in there! This is much smaller. and finally: sadly, where I live we can't get gas so I'm stuck with an electric stove. It's okay as it's been what I've used most of my life. If I'm going to have electric I definitely want the coil top over induction or glass top. The reason of course is because I want to be able to use my cast iron pans. Bye bye all my moneys! TheRevanchist
Battra, I have not heard great things about the front load washers. I was looking at them myself. Someone told me they tend to hold in odors as they get older, which is why the washing machine cleaner products have become popular. I would investigate that before purchasing, just to be on the safe side. Never hurts to check it out.
Mal
You got an outside deck of some sort? If you do I would get a good grill and perhaps a burner. I loath electric stoves to the point that it could be a deal breaker for me. In other news, I am a graphic tee whore. The following images on tee shirts besides the oil sprayer. I got some nice olive oil and apparently these can really help you use not too much oil.

I loath electric stoves to the point that it could be a deal breaker for me. The good news is that there's gas on the street. The bad news is that the Gas Company won't put in a line unless I *at least* put in a gas hot water heater along with the stove. Since all that costs money, it won't be for a couple years at best. :-/ We have no deck but there is a sun room. I will probably get a grill even if I have to grill out on the lawn. Of course, one year I may build a paver patio in the backyard (less to mow ) but we'll see.
Strangelove
I got a regular iphone 4. 8gb. It was 50 bucks, but i traded in my old 3gs, so it made it free. Plus a $38 giftcard from Radioshack. I suppose I should get a case. Sadly, most of them are tacky as hell. I thought about the 4S, but overall I really dont care enough to pay for it. This is actually the first phone Ive ever gotten that costs money. I always tend to go for the free ones. I just dont care to be up to date with something that will be obsolete in another year. Fuck that. Fuck Siri too. No one uses that shit anyways.
