Hot Heart
It was on sale in HMV, and at the front of the store so I picked it up while I was actually there to buy: What price was it in the sale?
deanb
£25 down from £50(though thats HMV price). £10 more than the non-extended version. Edit: a quick check puts it at £30 on Amazon. So £5 saving and you get it instantly.
Mr. GOH!
Got the LG NB3730A sound bar.Real 5.1 audio systems just do not work in city apartments, but this got good reviews. I don't expect to mess around with the Smart TV features on it, just use it for basic home audio, including gaming.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Real 5.1 audio systems just do not work in city apartments Um, what? I have 5.1 setup in my apartment. I have a rug in the middle of the room and I run the cords under it to hide them. Super easy.
staySICK
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-HTCT260H-Sound-Wireless-Subwoofer/dp/B00E3AKF1C/ref=sr_sp-atf_title_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1384417611&sr=8-1&keywords=sony+ct260 We just bought this sound bar a few months ago when we moved. 5.1 is stored downstairs for right now, fewer wires and speakers for toddler and kids to mess with this way. Also the sub is enclosed so there's no air tunnel to allow children to hide toys inside it. Yes that is a problem when you have kids. sigh. Plus our surround sound system is an older one with a HUGE 5 disc dvd changer, so this freed up a lot of room on our entertainment console. Mal
staySICK, be happy the VCR is long dead. No idea why me and my older brother put spoons and forks into them when we were little. I think we might have cheated death a few times if there is a chance to get shocked...
staySICK
I didn't see you ask? the sound is actually pretty good, and it does a pretty good job of simulating surround sound, but I'm not sure if its that its a mid / entry level sound bar, or just all sound bars in general, you can definitely tell a difference between that and real surround sound. Audiophiles, especially picky ones, may not like it. I like that this one came with Bluetooth. I can wirelessly sync my music device of choice to it and play music that way without the tether of an audio in cable. While we were waiting on cable to be connected I streamed hulu and netflix on my phone and had the audio going through it. Faked my wife out enough she came in to see how I was watching tv with no cable. All in all any loss of quality (surround soundiness?) is negated by the savings of space and cleanliness of no wires. Saturnine Tenshi
From what I've read about the game and of its innards, it seems like loads of fun. Unfortunately, mine was missing a deck of cards, so I have to wait on that to be replaced to even play the game. : \
Mr. GOH!
FDS: I can handle cords; it's the noise of the sub that's a problem for me. I live above folks who are in bed at 9pm every night because they get up so early. I have a smallish 5.1 system still, though the rear speakers need replacement. The sub really annoyed my old neighbors, and I've been annoyed by subs on neighbors' systems in the past. As for how it compares, I haven't picked up the soundbar yet, but I know it's better than the one staySICK got. Edit: Set it up. Seems a bit wonky sensing ARC even with no digital audio cable attached. Sounds good. Not like a 5.1 system, of course, but it's MUCH nicer than TV speakers and fills the apartment with sound nicely. Also better than a Bluetooth music box thing (jambox), which is what my girlfriend originally wanted for a home audio system. She agrees that this is better, though she may get one for when we travel. Edited November 15, 2013 by Mr. GOH!

Also, mine was CNet and PC Mag's Editors choice and best choice in that price range at the time I'll-have-you-know. Mine is running through optical audio and like you mentioned, it obviously lacks in comparison to a 5.1 -- especially with movie scenes intended to show off high end sound systems -- it does a great job of filling the room and sounds Pretty Damn Good. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2418664,00.asp Edited November 15, 2013 by staySICK
Mr. GOH!
I was looking at your model, too; it just came down to a few points about the LG sounding better with music when I compared them at the store, no hdmi, the hexagonal shape of the Sony not really fitting on my TV turntable without blocking the remote receiver on the TV, and the LG being $120 off. I liked the Sony a lot. I ended up paying only $50 for it due to a bunch of Best Buy gift cards from when Best Buy severely fucked up a dishwasher installation because their dishwasher installation subcontractor exclusively hired barely functional sub-morons. Seriously. Fuck those guys. Edited November 15, 2013 by Mr. GOH!
staySICK
the sony actually has an ir repeater that relays the signal to the tv in the event its blocking the tvs receiver. Edited November 16, 2013 by staySICK
Hot Heart
Amazon had an offer on blu-rays so grabbed some I've been meaning to get for a good while now: - Blade Runner: Final Cut - Casablanca - Quantum of Solace
Strangelove
I heard 2 out of 3 of these movies are good, so for $20 I figure it was worth a shot. On bluray of course.

Casino Royale is fantastic. Having rewatched it recently, I can definitely say it's better than Skyfall. I mean, both have their issues and both are still really good in their own way, but I think Casino Royale holds up better. I haven't seen Quantum of Solace, and I hear mixed things. If it's anything like Casino Royale, considering it starts ten minutes after the events of that film, then I'm happy. I think it's a brooding Bond, which I kinda dug with Timothy Dalton as well. Faiblesse Des Sens
IMO surround sound is the most impressive in games. Wait until you hear that grenade drop behind you and to the left.
