TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I've seen conflicting reports on whether it needs a power adapter or not. Most people say what FDS says, but at the same time I can't see how it can output optical audio without a power adapter.
TheMightyEthan
Okay, the specific one I got does require power. So far it seems pretty great, lets me switch back and forth between my PS4 and Xbone just like I want, and at least going through menus there's no noticeable added latency or any audio/video offset, which are the two primary things I was worried about. After 2 minutes of use my first impressions are very good.
TheFlyingGerbil
thanks for the extra info. by the time I come to my own buying decision everything will probably be wireless anyway...
TheMightyEthan
My only complaint so far is that the LEDs are absurdly bright. I have 3 layers of masking tape over them and they're still the brightest LEDs in the room. But that was a common complaint among the user reviews, so I expected it, I just didn't realize the extent. TheMightyEthan
Alright, spent an hour last night playing Titanfall through it, and I can officially confirm there's no noticeable latency. Yay!
Strangelove
I actually got it about 2 weeks ago. I could have gotten the 5S, but Ive always had my eye on the green 5C since it came out. It's so fucking sweet.I hate that I had to put a case on it. Even a clear case isn't good enough. Its a travesty, like pissing on God's face. Edited June 7, 2014 by Strangelove
deanb
Oh yeah, I picked up a 1TB portable drive since my last one gave up the ghost. And while I was at it grabbed the 64GB MicroSD I'd been eyeing up. My phone now has 100GB of storage (unlike the one above ). Next stop: SSD! (which the 1TB portable will come in super handy in upgrading). edit: Ah what the hell, picked up a .5TB SSD

Strangelove
Well, its a clear case. Seriously though, there are people who use their phone without a case? Thats crazy. This shit is expensive.
deanb
I've never used a case on my phones. I can probably dig out my phone from 10 years back and it's not cracked or anything. I'm just not a dipshit with my phones (and I don't buy Apple phones which really helps, those are crack magnets, not sure why no class action taken out on them yet)
Strangelove
I hardly ever drop my phone either. Im not sure what people who have those Otterbox cases are like, maybe theyre wasted all the time. I dunno. But I just feel a bit better having a case on something so expensive.
TheMightyEthan
I keep my phone in the same pocket as my keys, so those will scratch the hell out of anything not protected.
TheFlyingGerbil
I don't understand cases, as most only protect the back which is the least vulnerable part of the phone and really don't look like they'd provide any particular drop protection. The thing that drives me mad though is screen protectors as I just see so many phones with bubbly screens and debris stuck under the film and even if it's neatly applied and clean it still ruins the image on the screen. TheMightyEthan
You can get good screen protectors, the problem is people get the matte anti-fingerprint ones, which are foggy and ruin the picture, what you want is a glossy one. But yeah, people who just use it with bubbles and shit confuse the hell out of me.
staySICK
my keys are on a carabiner, and I have my phone in a case right now, but I've been really leaning toward making it nekkid. A guy at work keeps his in a sunglasses pouch, keeps its free from lint and very pristine. I need something like that. deanb
I put my phone in a pocket of its own(or with headphone, since it's usually attached), keys go with my wallet should they need to go in trouser pockets (otherwise it's a coat pocket). TheRevanchist
I've never used a screen protector and never really had a problem. Now, I do use a case with a lip over the edge of the glass, which has probably saved me a time or two. With the right search, you can get a decent case for cheap. Even those Otterbox cases that are ugly as hell can be had for about $5 +s/h, if you look hard enough.
TheFlyingGerbil
I had a phone sock for my old phone but it annoyed me having to take it in and out all the time, plus you had to hold it when you were using the phone so it was not an ideal solution. My current phone has a built in case, the whole back comes off and you replace it with one with a built in flap. that protects the screen but doesn't add any bulk and since it's attached I don't have to worry about holding it. It;s held closed by magnets which also, de/activates the phones when you close open the flap. I love it and don't know what I'll do when I get a new phones. Thing I'm more worried about than the screen is the headphone socket. That got effed on my old phone and I'd hardly used it so I'm scared to use it on my new one but it sounds nicer and is less hassle than using my bluetooth adaptor. Such a dilemma. deanb
Samsung phones are built to take those kinds of cases to the degree there's special pins so the flap can have an extra screen on it or similar (I think HTC does the same): Also hooray for camera on my watch I guess? edit: yeah fancy case: http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/mobile-devices/galaxy-note/accessories/EF-CN900BWEGWW (Give it a bit and I'm sure Apples will have these innovative cases too)
Mal
I might go caseless with my next phone since I'm not using it as a wallet. The last time I used a wallet case, I treated it too much like a wallet and ploooob it went. I actually do have an Otter case right now but I just don't see myself repeating the same mistake. TheFlyingGerbil
I cannot believe I bought this. I bought the original nexus 7 when it came out but it had that screen lift problem so I returned it and have been unable to decide on a replacement since. I was just about to turn my laptop off to go to work yesterday, when I spotted it on an Amazon lightning deal. I only had time to looks at the pro/con list on 2 reviews. They were positive if not glowing at it's RRP, it was a lot cheaper than that . With Amazon prime it had shipped by the time I'd got back from work so I couldn't have a look around and cancel. I'm kind of glad I suppose: my own indecision was really starting to annoy me. I'm making myself not look for better deals, problems with it or alternatives etc. as I usually do after most major purchases and inevitably find bad news for myself. At any rate this will allow me to wait for a tablet I really want to come out and it's Windows so I can give it to my Mum and she'll be OK using it so it won't go to waste when I do upgrade. Do I sound like I've convinced myself yet?
Faiblesse Des Sens
What is it exactly? Obviously a Lenovo Win8 tablet of some sorts but not enough of the name is showing.
Mal
Appears to be the Miix 2 8. 8 for 8" and I believe it is discontinued. There's a 10" and 11" now. Regardless, if I recall, the Miix 2 was my second choice after the T100.
