staySICK
Yeah looking around I really fell in love with the Switch 810, the blu ray will come in handy putting movies on for the kids when one of us wants the tv. My son killed one of the two DVD rw drives I bought like 8 years ago, but the other one is still solid.
Strangelove
My other controller mesed up. Every time the controller rumbled, the dpad would randomly start inputting commands. Just shaking it gently does that, so its not like I could take the rumble off.

TheFlyingGerbil
I am finally using my Samsung 840 Evo 250GB SSD. On mother humping windows 8 though. I may try again with Windows 8.1 but quite frankly for now I can't take any more. Mind you I'm hearing rumours about Windows 9 now so I may just wait and see how that can destroy my mind.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Why on earth would you use Windows 8 but not 8.1? 8.1 is basically a service pack and basically all of the changes are to make it better for M+KB users.
Eleven
Yeah. If you hate 8, you should either go back to 7, or upgrade. Don't stay at 8. Boot to desktop. Start page is way better. All programs menu still suck though. But programs don't pin themselves anymore by default. And shutdown button in start page. Plus the start icon if you're into that. Better start menu search too. Seriously, upgrade.
TheFlyingGerbil
I installed 8 and upgraded to 8.1 straight away. What I gave up on was installing 8.1. Thanks to eleven's help I managed to get get an 8.1 iso and it installed but my 8 key wouldn't activate it and I just can't be arsed trying to work out exactly how I could resolve that. There are so many little issues that add up to one big headache. Edited August 29, 2014 by TheFlyingGerbil
Eleven
Ah I see. It's not an OEM license, is it? Depending on the error I guess you have to call and ask MS about it. I tried to install 8.1 on bootcamp on my mac mini, but it wouldn't let me use my win 8 key, so I installed 8 instead and just upgrade. I tried using my OEM Windows 8 key to activate windows 8 on bootcamp. It complained that it's not valid but searching for answers I learned you could just call Microsoft and ask them to fix it, even if its OEM. That's where I gave up though. Calling is probably not a pain and I would probably be able to activate it, but just the thought of dealing with customer service (as with all other customer service by phone) is a pain. TheFlyingGerbil
I bought my key direct from MS during the £25/$40 offer they had when 8 first launched. Looking around the internet pretty much everyone hates the way MS has handled the release of 8.1. It's definitely deliberate on MS's part to stop people with 8 keys from downloading 8.1 - why even make them incompatible keys? They even updated the downloaders to stop a semi-easy workaround. And worst of all no one can find a logical reason for it. There's proper tech guys scratching their heads about it and not able to come up with a reason nor solution. I'm sure I could sort it out but it's just not worth the hassle. I'm up and running now, just with a few GB of my new SSD wasted and the feeling I don't have a nice clean install. TheMightyEthan
Yeah, it really doesn't make sense, if 8.1 is a free upgrade why the fuck not just let you install it from the getgo with an 8 key?
toxicitizen
Earlier this summer, I noticed that no sound was coming out of the left side of my current in-ear buds. I was tempted to just get the same ones since they're pretty cheap now but I felt like upgrading and getting proper headphones. Those seemed good enough and weren't too expensive.
Hot Heart
Noticed a few things on my Amazon wishlist hit 'the sweet spot' so I made an order over £10 to get free delivery - Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy/Smiley's People BBC series boxset - The Sound of the Life of the Mind - Ben Folds Five - End of Watch - RED Not bad for just shy of £14.50, I think.
Faiblesse Des Sens
I can't remember if my key is 8.1 or 8... it might be 8.1 so I'm of no help here, either. My experience with installing 8 on people's systems was to just use the OEM disk (which seriously meant having to call HP or whatever and act like the customer and have them send a USB stick) and it was up to them to get to 8.1. Though some of them just let you use a generic Win 8 install that auto-activated and everything as the key is in the BIOS.
Mr. GOH!
I have a Windows 8.7 key, if that helps anyone.

Mal
I wanted another shoe that I could wear daily that isn't made of leather that would work with shorts. I have a trail running shoe from the same company so I figured I would get another one from them (They fit quite snuggly to your feet). First thing I noticed was that they are really thin but that is to be expected if they are pose to mimic going barefoot. Other than the thinness, I got what I expected. I got it for pretty cheap so I'm not too worried about it. Last me a year and I'll be happy.

Mal
A new Xbox 360 controller along with some replacement thumb sticks. Unless some new revolutionary change in controller layout happens, a 360 controller will be fine. Also now I can fix my old one (couch coop!) and my brother's one. Add this guy in since the plastic/molding for my current watch is deteriorating fast. Leather if taken care of can last... right? Also the date thing is a must have for me since I always got to remind myself what day it is. Deadlines man... TheMightyEthan
The surface of leather can get torn up pretty easily, but structurally it'll last forever.
