toxicitizen
The final piece of a trio of completely frivolous purchases (the bookends) finally arrived, and so I was able to set up this shrine to my own stupidity. No regrets!!!
Mister Jack
The one thing I wasn't happy with in the prebuilt PC I bought recently was only having 1 TB of space to work with. That is no longer a problem now. Installing it was kind of a pain because my case interior is shaped a bit funny but I managed to get it done and now, with 3 TB on my desktop and 2 TB on my PS5, I am officially all set for this gen. 1
toxicitizen
Ugh, why am I doing this to myself? This is only going to end in pain... But yeah, I read most of my Junji Ito back in October and I don't wanna touch the few books I have left yet because the next one isn't coming out until the summer. So I just got started on Ghost in the Shell and after that is Akira, both of which are pretty short, so I'm gonna need something for after. Think I'll also get The Drifting Classroom by Kazuo Umezz soon. 2

Thursday Next
That is a lot of panels! Are you able to sell power back to the grid?
TheMightyEthan
We are able to sell it back, but only at the wholesale rate, which is about 1/3 of the price we have to pay for what we buy from the grid, hence the battery so we can save it up and use it ourselves instead. Even so, for about 9 months of the year we should produce more than we use and end up selling more back, but in June, July, and August the A/C will mean we use more than we produce and have to buy. I just found out today though that our city is considering switching to variable rate and charging more during the day and less at night, which would great for us since during the day the panels will cover our usage and then we can run on the battery through the evening and it'll be overnight and early morning when rates are low that we might need to buy.

TheMightyEthan
lol, as a customer I'd obviously prefer it if they let us sell it back at retail price, but I can't really say it's unfair that they pay us the same amount they pay their other suppliers.
Thursday Next
Haha, yeah, just being facetious. Shame you can't sell it to your neighbours, "mates rates" would still be a tidy profit.

toxicitizen
After watching their website like a hawk for like 3 months, I was finally able to order some proper bookcases from IKEA! I finally have enough room so that I don't have to double-stack every single shelf. I was really hoping to have more free space left in them, though lol. Also, the wall where my Witcher wolf head was hanged is hidden now so I had to take it down for the time being. 2
TheFlyingGerbil
would you stack any of your series that are longer than tall on top of one another to save space or do you think it would look messy like that?
toxicitizen
You mean like in a pile or on top of each other like a double row? I think a pile would look messy but the more I look at it the more I feel like the shelves have enough head room that I could probably add a couple extra shelves to each bookcase. Ikea actually sells them but they're like 25 bucks a piece so getting 4 would cost as much as getting an entirely new bookcase lol. Of course, I don't actually have room for a third bookcase right now so it seems like their racket is going to work...
TheFlyingGerbil
Like the bottom left with the vase on - only one stack per series so its a neat pile and not all series. It is more informal but I like the look though they're not actually saving space there with the short stack. I'd not thought about extra shelves; do they have a damages corner near the tills? They do in all UK IKEA and they're always full of shelves. If not you may get lucky trying to find a local person selling a used bookcase. It's usually the frame that gets damaged and the shelves are fine.

Thursday Next
Do they fold up? They look like they do. The tyres look really fat... Are they for the beach or something?
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, they fold up for storage. I'm not sure why the tires are so fat, I'm guessing just for versatility.

Good ideas about where to find shelves, it's worth a shot. It shouldn't be a problem for a while, though. I don't have anywhere near as much time to read as I used to. So I had to stop buying so many goddamned books but my book buying habits took a few months to adjust, so as it is I have enough to last me for a while. MetalCaveman
Went on a bit of a shopping spree. Vol 1 was sold-out Soon as it was announced I knew I needed it. While browsing amiami, I also saw that they had these wall scrolls on pre-order, bunch of different designs, but these were the four I liked the most, really enjoy 23/Sela's work and been meaning to buy some merch so this was some nice timing. toxicitizen
I proudly present to you the latest episode in the "I'm running out of bookshelf space because I keep filling them up with stuff that aren't books!" saga. They're finally here! I pre-ordered them back in October and they kept getting delayed because of Covid/shipping issue in the US so it's kinda surreal to finally have them. They're also much bigger than I thought they would be. I can't even fit all of my Dune books on the shelf because of their size. They look so good, though! Spoiler I'm gonna be super paranoid about breaking them, though. The Witcher ones are so blunt that I almost feel like I need to wear a safety helmet when I'm around them. These on the other hand feel like they're made from a more high quality/fragile material and have so many little bits that could break off.
