I can't remember if we discussed this before. what do you guys think of the case? And regardless of what you think happened, what verdict do you think will be reached?

I would say he killed her on deliberately and there is a lot of lying going on. Unfortunately, you really never know what the outcome will be.

I'm gonna assume Pistorious? (image isn't loading)

I don't much care one way or the other. His main claim to fame being a paralympian gold medallist not long before the murder, otherwise I imagine the case wouldn't be a blip on the media's radar. Though maybe the coverage is only pretty heavy here in UK?

Coverage is high in the US, too.  Damn guy is a loon.

And there is no doubt he shot with intent to kill someone.  How the hell do you not notice that your girlfriend, who is there every night, is not laying next to you?  His story couldn't get more dumb.  It's like OJ trying to put on a glove.  And, like OJ, he'll probably walk away from this free and clear, with the exception of the general loathing of the public.  There are too many loopholes and questionable practices in the judicial system (single judge and bribery is pretty high).

But, you know, legal stuff is always messed up.  I blame Ethan, as it's his day to be blamed.

While South Africa may have a high break-in rate and I may empathize (Sympathize?) with him for feeling powerless... Revan got my sentiment. There is also a thing called verbal warning. There is at least an audio cue.
Totally wrong flow to reach for the conclusion of shoot to kill.

What I have heard (no idea if it's true or not) was that the family sued her first even though the police decided she wasn't at fault for the accident, then demonized her to the media and the community to ruin her reputation, which is why she's counter-suing to make it stop.  Even if it is true, though, suing those other two boys is a pretty cunty thing to do.

I don't think she'd abdicate unless she became seriously unwell. Her sense of duty is pretty much her defining characteristic and her duty is to serve her country, not to "give her son a go". The tradition in this country is to reign until you die, which seems different to how other European countries do things. I'm personally looking forward to September next year when she'll become the longest reigning British monarch. After that, there's no way if Prince Charles is healthy he will not become king, the whole reason some people hate the monarchy is that it's hereditary, not a popularity contest.

Having said that despite the fact he's more opinionated than the Queen, he's well enough liked and pretty much everyone except Express readers are over the Diana thing. People can see how happy he and Camilla are and she's been wise enough to keep a back seat and I think that's softened most people to the situation.

It probably is worth pointing out as of..I think either last year or this year, he has actually been taking up some of her duties to help with the strain a bit. She's in good health, but she's still nearly 90.

One of the perks of having a family in servitude to your nation is most of them are trained to take over the jobs of another. Hardly like if Hilary Clinton was feeling a bit off for a while you could just send out Chelsea to do all her jobs for a few months.

A Malaysian Airlines flight has [crashed | being shot down] over Ukraine. Suspected are Ukraine, Russia, and Russians in Ukraine.

This is going to get messy.

Also it says a lot about the state of the whole Ukraine stuff when a Malaysian plane, heading from Netherlands, crashes in Ukraine, and then Putin rings up Obama. Proxy war? What's one of those?

Why would Ukraine have done it?  It's not like they could mistake it for a separatist aircraft, since AFAIA the separatists don't have an air force.  I mean they could have done it to try to frame Russia/the separatists, but that seems like it would have way too big a potential for a backfire.
