The U.S. embassy had put out a statement earlier on Tuesday condemning "misguided individuals" who hurt the religious feelings of Muslims or followers of other religions.

Yes, it's the free-speaking, free-thinking people that are misguided. It's certainly not the religious zealots, oh no. Saying so could hurt their feelings.

On a related note, Egyptians should really begin to consider what they choose to protest over. It's great that they have the freedom to protest now but it'll all be for naught if they protest everything.

The person killed in the Libya riot was quite the Eve player and yes, the riot was due to that same film that caused the Egyptian riot. So what the fuck is this film?

Edit: Found it and watched it a bit. Reaction: Okay...

One slogan scrawled on the walls of the embassy, which is near Tahrir Square where Egyptians revolted against Mubarak, said: "If your freedom of speech has no limits, may you accept our freedom of action."

I don't think you quite understand. Speech doesn't hurt anyone unless they let it. Actions can hurt people regardless. Sticks and stones and all that.

@MaliciousH: What's this movie? I haven't seen anything saying yet.

That statement was issued before the attacks happened, not after.

That sounds like the old maxim along the lines of "The measure of a society's civilization is seen in how it treats its most vulnerable members."

There are countless versions attributed to many people, but I wouldn't say women can automatically be assumed to fill that role. Perhaps real progress lies in parity, rather than elevating one at the cost of another?

Though with the oppression we've seen in Pakistan and Afghanistan, it seems quite apt to equate that with women. There may be more downtrodden, but like MaliciousH said, they need to learn that people are people.

I may be bias but this is such bullshit. As of this moment of time, there is no way to predict any earthquake. It is never for sure until it happens. So the best you can do is prepare for the worst. If I take this further... our best predictions is of the weather kind and is far from perfect as well. Next thing I know, someone is going to jail for failing to predict a tornado or the path of a hurricane. Hell, a freakishly large rainstorm can cause some damage.

This sort of ruling can have potential global consequences.
