Little Pirate
I couldn't find a thread in the off topic for this so decided to make one. I've been a bit of a health/fitness nut as of late so if anyone has any good exercise or fitness videos, websites, or pictures post them here! I'll start us off with some off my workout playlist: The sound is synched way off so I just focus on watching the trainer and ignore the sound.

Battra92
Believe it or not, I lost 75 lbs and the only exercise (outside of walking) was Wii Sports boxing and Wii Fit. It worked for me. I think a lot of it is just finding what you enjoy doing.
Mal
Well, I bike around town a lot and if I can I will do 8-10 miles bike rides during the weekends. Just riding to and back from campus already helped me lose around 10 lbs and lower my blood pressure... and its just a two mile ride one way. I only did my first 8-10 miles rides last week so... I should get better! For example... blood pressure. 1-27 150/90 (I was sick so yeah.) 2-9 136/81 (Gotten better but was not great) 2-23 124/79 (Sleep deprived but normal otherwise.) So yeah, get your ass moving. The only motivation needed is the will to get better and in the case of biking... making your body obey you, shut it up and to conquer that damn hill with wind blowing in you face.

Battra92
It's worth noting that beer is full of calories! They don't call 'em beer bellies for nothing.
Little Pirate
The healthiest drink you can order at a bar is a screwdriver. It's usually what I stick to now.
Johnny
I tend to walk and bike a lot. It's been helping me slowly lose weight over the last year. I usually gain weight under the winter, so I consider my 1 pound loss (I know, huge numbers!) to be a success this year. I would go to a gym... But the cheapest I've found that they would let me in at would cost half my jobseeker's allowance every month. I wish I was kidding. I don't live in a good town for exercising. Thursday Next
I've recently started walking to and from work and college (just moved house). It's helped loads. Even considering running instead of walking... but maybe that's a little extreme.
madbassman39
I personally do like beer. And it is an acquired taste. The reason I got used to it was because it was cheep and its the easiest drink to buy in mass quantities without killing people. I find that I like to try new beers, some are amazingly delicious, others aren't. I don't like to drink it because after about 2 beers (enough to get a buzz for me, because I'm a light weight) I feel bloated and full. Not something I like. Beer is best when eating hot wings though. EDIT: I do feel like I am getting off topic, so to keep myself on topic I will post the following: I met a guy a week ago who said he lost something like 50 pounds in 4 months by jogging, and eating nothing but chicken and rice. I don't think thats quite a healthy diet, but I do think that if I can change my diet to mostly chicken, fish and veggies (with no snacks in between) and exercise regularly (3 to 4 times a week) I could get down to my goal weight in 2 months. I think right now I am 195, I want to get down to 175, so it seems do-able. I just have to stop eating. I love eating, its all about the taste for me. That's a problem. Have breakfast, a somewhat decent sized one so it can last you a while. Carbs/fiber with some sort of protein. Then snack on whatever until your dinner time. The key in the snacking phase is moderation. Overall for your nutrition needs... just keep it balanced so you can get most of what you need. Losing twenty pounds in two months is doable. Hell, I'm a guy that love to eat too and I bumped it up for a month and I am still surprised that I lost ten pounds from my last post in this thread. That post is from about a month ago so 10lbs/month is doable. However, the fat from my arms and legs are pretty much minimum now which leaves just my gut* which also shrunk a bit... I weight about the same as you now. If you are somehow have a similar body shape as me. Eh. I expect a bit of a struggle to get rid of the tummy. *How I think I look lead to my other post a few days back in another thread.
madbassman39
Well most of my fat is in my face and stomach. My arms and legs seem to have survived pretty well. I am confident I can get close, but I have to work hard at it, and well, I'm not working all that hard at it.
Little Pirate
I actually found a good website that lists major fast food or dine-in restaurants and what off their menu is the worst to eat, as well as recommendations for healthier alternatives. For example: http://eatthis.mensh...rants/mcdonalds I love this because as long as you limit yourself and make a habit out of ordering healthier menu items, you can still enjoy hitting a restaurant or getting fast food now and then. Battra92
Ahh ETNT, the people who remind you it's okay to eat an Egg McMuffin now and again.
Mal
I looked at the front page and see "eat healthy at a steak house"... That is the least of my concerns when I go to one. @Bass If you live close enough... bike to school or whatever. Doesn't matter if 5-10 miles out... Strangelove
Dieting is so hard. I'm not even hungry most of the time, I just eat out of boredom or because Im supposed to. Bah! Exercising isn't any better either. Its so boring. I only use my exercise bike for about 30 minutes because its boring. Im really jealous of people who think its fun or do it as a hobby. You guys suck. I have more fun sitting down and staring at my cats. Thinking. Plotting. Turning around and showing me their buttholes. Almost as if they planned it. Jerks.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Most people who exercise do stuff that's fun. Riding a stationary bike is indeed boring. Actually riding a real bike is fun. So is jogging and taking in the sights and getting that runners high while breathing in fresh air. With dieting it's about breaking your bad habits. Try drinking tea or something flavorful (not soda obviously) instead of snacking, or snacking on fruit. If you're bored (I saw your last status update) then find some new hobbies to keep yourself active and occupied.
Strangelove
Ive ridden a bike and jogged before. That's how I lost 100 pounds years ago. I dont have any fun doing that. At all. Its just not in me to enjoy those things. I dunno. Im still doing it, but I cant enjoy it. Same thing with dancing. I just cant see whats so fun about it. Either im really really boring, or Im some sort of fruit or vegetable come to life. Maybe a bit of both.
Little Pirate
This might sound weird, but try Richard Simmons tapes. He's pretty goofy but his energy makes you feel a little energized, yourself. I think that's a major reason a lot of people have such a hard time exercising is that it's hard to get into the habit of it. Just find something that works for you or makes you feel motivated. I was thinking about getting myself some roller blades this summer for example. As far as snacking, try those 100 calorie packs, or just start forcing yourself to buy grapes, carrots, celery... Popcorn is a low-calorie snack, too. Next time you go shopping just start slapping yourself on the wrist when you aim for junk food. When there's no junk food in the house to go to you tend to get into the habit of eating the healthy food that is there.
TheRevanchist
I've tried Sweatin' To The Oldies before. That shit is hard! Went for an hour, and then he said, "Okay, now that we are with warmups...". I about passed out from sheer pain. I like to eat the dried fruits, as well as fresh. Dried can keep better in the pantry, though the cost is higher. One thing to do if you are bored, is clean! Wiping down windows, cabinets, doors, moving furniture. Scrubbing the carpet by hand! These are pretty tiring and burn good calories. It also keeps your hands busy.

excel_excel
So I'm starting back in the gym after 3 months, got an assessment tomorrow, had a great workout yesterday, I still haven't worked out my diet yet though, I tend to eat 3 large meals a day and I've really got to get used to eating small portions more often.
