Little Pirate
I think I overdid my morning jog... I can barely breathe. My chest is pounding and I can hear myself wheezing. But despite it all... I feel pretty good. I'm gonna collapse on my keyboard now. sdddddddddddffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
Mal
My favorite thing to do when biking home? Race the bus. The bus can easily beat me if the traffic gods gave both of us all green and no traffic. So I say its a fair handicap that the bus has to make bus stops and deal with traffic. I personally make all stops but sometimes I will blow a yellow (Not recommended since it usually change by the time I pass the white) and just make it. Today I managed to get home just before the bus made it finishing stop (for my "race"). It usually beat me by half a block. MINOR VICTORY! Someday I hope to beat it by getting home first and the traffic gods smiles on the bus.
MasterDex
I've gotten into the habit of weighing myself after a shower. I've been floating around 12.5 for a while now. Starting to annoy me. I'm hoping that college will help me drop down to 11 or 10 but with the food they have in the canteen, that may be hard. I think I should get some weights....or a slendertone. Luftwaffles
12.5 whats? Pardon my Americanism but I have no idea what that means.
TheFlyingGerbil
12 and a half stones. One stone is 14lbs, so it's 175lb. His goal weight is 140 to 154 pounds.
Mal
I honestly cannot see myself go below 170 lbs. I honestly would be scared to see myself at 150 lbs. I'm currently 190.5 lbs by the way. I gone up 10 lbs since the end of my summer quarter. Height is 5' 10" (177.8 cm). MasterDex
I should mention that that's before I start muscle training to build myself back up. I'm overweight under the BMI (5'8", 175lbs) and that's with very little muscle weight so I want to drop the excess fat and then build back up to the weight I am now but through my muscles. Little Pirate
It never hurts to muscle train and lose at the same time--that's what I did. That way, as you lose weight, you can focus on making sure your body can adjust with the loose skin it's going to get. I noticed as I lost weight I could start seeing shape. I'm actually quite pleased to say that my new job has also been a great workout. I have to lift and carry at least 20lbs every day throughout my workday. Someone call me a vet, because these puppies are siiiick.
Pojodin
I'm assuming that is exactly how you look like right now LP.
MasterDex
I can't profess to know a whole lot about fitness, etc but everything I've read and been told is that with the level of fat I currently have that I should lose the fat before building it back up afterwards as I muscle-train. Here's a couple of articles I found quickly that sum up what I've been told pretty well: http://www.builtlean.com/2012/05/03/lose-fat-first/ http://www.aworkoutroutine.com/should-i-build-muscle-or-lose-fat-first/ That said, I'm doing a small bit of muscle-training as I cut down on my fat so I'm not losing the muscle I already have but until I drop the last couple of pounds, I'm limiting how much I'm doing. Pojodin
Limiting yourself is probably a really good idea. You don't want to be too gung ho from the get go and burn yourself out or risk injury. That said, you seem to be approaching this the right way. Good start MasterDex! Thursday Next
Just started using Zombies Run. It's a great app that makes running entertaining. I actually look forward to the next chapter and, as such, my next run.
excel_excel
I feel so frustrated. Ok I joined the gym last year in September, been going to the gym about 3 or 4 times a week. well I've been really run down so the last few weeks its been about 2 or 3 times a week and today with my reassessment my body fat was up by about a percent. I mean its been down the last 3 assessments that I can remember. I guess I'm in a bit better shape but I just really feel the same as I always have. There's no new energy that I have since exercising and my body, I just don't know. I've got a bit thinner but I still have a belly and my muscle growth i feel has been tiny. I've changed my diet but I haven't been perfect and I've found it so hard to start eating 6 meals instead of 3 a day.
Little Pirate
You're currently in the midst of changing your lifestyle as a whole, it's gonna feel kinda off at first, but just keep at it and you'll become used to the healthier routine you're getting into.
Mal
So I think I overdid it with my sprints back home. I've been off my bike for a good few weeks because of weather/light (I prefer to not ride in the dark) and because my left knee has been feeling off. I've been keeping off the bike mainly for my knee. This sucks. I think I'll ride for a week to see how it feels.
Thursday Next
Recently started running 5k to work. Started off at a pretty lame 30mins, but this week got it down 10%. Would like to be able to do 20mins. I reckon I've got it in me, but there's a hill about halfway in that utterly destroys me. My early pace, up to that hill has me at under 25 mins. I reckon another month or so and I'll have it. Then I'll have to decide if I want to do more distance, or quicker.
deanb
What if within the next month the zombie apocalypse actually begins? If it wasn't for the fact I live at the top of a hill I'd be up for fixing up step-dads bike, but yeah, hill. I need to get a gym partner, had originally planned to go along with housemate but driving lessons pull funds from other stuff like that. Thursday Next
I'm already in pretty good shape I reckon. The average shambling zomb is not going to cause me any trouble. If it's the 28 Days Later variety, then, I might be in a bit of bother, but it's like the joke about the two guys and the lion.
Mal
Rode about 31 miles today, on and off. I so deserved that burger and fries. Its good to know for sure that I perhaps I have the potential to do a 50 mile ride.
TheFlyingGerbil
do you ride as transport or purely as exercise? That's quite a distance either way.
Mal
Both. I needed to go somewhere that was about 10 miles out of town for a plant ecology class. I know someone who lives there so that was my motivation to do the ride (Someone who can help me if something happens). So 10 miles for both ways and another 11 for misc. stuff. deanb
http://www.eatthismuch.com/ So this is meant to be pretty neat, and it seems it. Just it's aimed at Americans so not really too useful for me.
TheRevanchist
http://www.eatthismuch.com/ So this is meant to be pretty neat, and it seems it. Just it's aimed at Americans so not really too useful for me. I asked for 4000 calories between 2 meals. Basically, 3 salads, 3 yogurts, 3lbs of carrots, 3 omlets, 3 bagels and 3 mango smoothies. That's just not right.
Thursday Next
As anyone who follows me on twitter will know, I'm up to 10k these days. Every day, Monday to Friday before work. I've never felt so good. Lost over 2 stone in 6 months. That meal generator thing is a bit... random? A coconut smoothie for breakfast? Who has coconuts lying around ready to be smoothed?
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I thought the meal generator was interesting but not terribly useful.
