Hot Heart
Anyone got any thoughts on the multiplayer yet? Is it faster-paced, do the abilities make much of a difference, maps any good, etc.?
Mal
I'm wondering too since Newegg currently has a Halo 4 with Live deal ($30 for 12 months). All this talk about Halo 4 is making me itchy but I'll be damned if I paid $60 just for the single player. I think I can work with a non-CoD paced MP game now. About the Flood... I'm recall that the Flood is a Precursor creation in case they got wiped out... by the Forerunners a few millions years ago. This is surely something that should be expanded on. Humans just stumbled upon the containers of Flood spores. The Flood forced the humans to flee with gun blazing. Waldorf and Statler
Thoughts on multiplayer: Fast-paced. The armor bonuses and abilities make enough of a difference where it feels fresh and exciting to play, and unlocking armor parts/weapons is great. There are daily, weekly achievements and Spartan Ops episodes should be added throughout the game's lifetime. Spartan Ops is basically like the Special Ops in MW, they drop you in either a small or big map and expect you to go press such button, kill enemies, move on. Difference is these have somewhat of a story added to them, not too much so far but maybe it'll get bigger later. As to War Games if you do play it and you're like me, I'd highly suggest giving everything a try. Team Slayer is fun but it's already reaching a point where people just want to camp instead of moving across the map. And with 90% of players using DMR's, which imho is really overpowered, it gets really fucking annoying on big open maps. Capture the Flag, Oddball, Zombies (known as Flood here) are all great but I fell in love with Regicide. Basically juggernaut except it is free-for-all. My friends who mainly play Call of Duty are really loving this game. They have never really put this much effort into a Halo game before, and I think it mainly has to do with leveling up and unlocking shit. People like to feel like they achieve something and that's something CoD did right. I'm eagerly awaiting the addition of Griffball to the War Games playlist and that's probably where I'll stick around for the majority of my War Games gameplay afterwards. Chewblaha
I love multiplayer itself, but I really dislike what was done with the menu selections. Reach had it so right.

This is surely something that should be expanded on. Humans just stumbled upon the containers of Flood spores. The Flood forced the humans to flee with gun blazing. Yeah, that's my understanding too. I don't agree with the Didact's reasoning, I was just explaining what I think it is.
Mal
Impressions... Singleplayer I only played the opening level so far, I like it. So far, it isn't hard. Grunts are grunts, jackles are fucking jackles and the Elites are simple enough to deal with. I liked how they were introduced. This level just came to me really naturally, which I think about it, comes from the fact that I didn't see no tutorial. I was rocking and ready to go, I just had to take five minutes in the first encounter to have it sink in that I was playing Legendary. They fell like flaccid penises after that. Storywise, so far so good. Multiplayer. I have only played on big team deathmatch. Against all reason, I'm going with the assault rifle and so far no regrets. I love humiliating folks with a pistol kill and I love getting up to people faces with the AR (Within reason). I'm going to have to get used to the vehicles again since I'm only good with the Ghost and Mongoose when it comes to driving. Gauss warthog is overpowered as hell because of autoaim. More than once I made a comeback with the Gauss. The grenades doesn't bounce as far and as high as they used to so it'll get some getting used to (No airburst face rape). So far, my main downfall is the controller. Me fumbling with the control scheme killed me at least a dozen times. I don't think I see a replay function. I recall seeing that in Halo 3. Another thing is that, while I like how fast it is, I feel that it can be a tad bit slower (as in respawn time). Anyways, so far its good. I'm liking it more than Halo 3. Mister Jack
Is it just me or do promethean weapons really suck? Is there some property to them I'm not picking up on?
TheMightyEthan
Here's what I think (this hasn't been verified, just based on my experience): Human weapons: very effective against flesh, not very effective against shields Plasma weapons: very effective against shields, not very effective against flesh Forerunner weapons: somewhat effective against both flesh and shields, but not super effective against either, though the light rifle is still a one hit kill if you get a headshot on an unshielded opponent. *Edit* - Also, I'm not sure about Big Team Battle but in regular team slayer and I think Regicide you can hit X at any time while the kill cam is playing and you will respawn instantly, there's no spawn timer at all. But I agree, before I figured that out it seemed like a really long wait to spawn. Edited November 15, 2012 by TheMightyEthan
Hot Heart
I don't think I see a replay function. I recall seeing that in Halo 3. You mean Theatre Mode? Aka. The Greatest Thing Eveeerrrr. That's been in all the games since 3.
TheMightyEthan
It has Theater Mode in War Games, but not in Campaign or Spartan Ops. Super lame, because there were some events in the Campaign that I really wanted to record, like the time the Knight threw a grenade at me, but then I got his shields down so he teleport-charged me right on top of his own grenade, which ended up killing him. Hot Heart
Not in Campaign or Spartan Ops?! Laaaaaaaaaame. Ah, well, most of my Halo 3 clips were multiplayer.
Mal
Okay, it just took me a little searching to find out how to see the other games I've played besides my most current one. That was what was bugging me. Also, the only Forerunner weapon I like so far is what I like to call the Forerunner rape cannon (The one that spreads and then converges making for an vehicle destroyer). The Suppressor is just garbage.

Do you mean the Incinerator Cannon? It doesn't spread and then converge, but it makes a wobbly-looking energy jack thing that explodes on impact. Mal
Well, it looks like it spreads out a bit then converges. Also for Regicide... its really hard to win if you remain on top since suddenly you can give someone a ton of points. Loving it.
TheMightyEthan
I like Regicide too. And the King bounty caps out at 35 points, but you're right, I won a match because the King was like 5 points from winning and I was like 25, but then I killed him and that put me over the top. Waldorf and Statler
Any reason you guys aren't playing objective based games? Is it due to K/D ratio or personal preference?
TheMightyEthan
My teammates in objective based games always make me want to gouge my brain out with a rusty spoon. I had a mini rant on Twitter about CTF the other night. In general though objective based modes are my favorite.
Waldorf and Statler
have you given a try to Oddball? I always have good teammates there since it's basically protect the leader
TheMightyEthan
No, I haven't. Maybe I will.
Mal
I wanted to kill my entire team during most of my dominion matches. Capture and disrupt enemies caps dammit! This isn't King of the Hill where you just stand there, you got to hold B. When it the teams know what to do though, it is quite fun. CTF though, I think is far better. It allows some room to screw around, aka kill each other to hell and back. I still have to try Oddball and the other game mode lower on the list. Oddball sounds fantastic. I don't really mind a lower K/D since I'm rarely ever lower than 1:1 even if I throw myself at the enemy. --- About Legendary singleplayer... I'm really not feeling the pressure yet, especially when Jackal snipers cannot take me out with one shot. TheMightyEthan
I never had trouble finding them.
Baconrath
But in Reach there was usually just one (or two) per map with a redonkulous respawn time. : (
Mal
Get the Boltshot. The charged shot will rape people faces. I discovered it (I never paid it much attention in SP) after getting killed quite a bit by someone using the charged shot. Its a close range instant kill so its perfect for countering people like me who will get in your face.
