TheMightyEthan
Oh, you meant multiplayer. You can put the plasma pistol in your loadout as your secondary weapon.
Waldorf and Statler
Yeah I tend to do plasma pistol as my secondary unless the map is an open spaced one with everybody using DMR's from far away. In those cases I leave unless it's an objective based game.
Mal
I'm really liking with what they are doing with the Spartan Ops. Is it only one season* for now or will there be more? I can see them keeping this up till Halo 5, which would be pretty sweet. * One season = ten episodes * five chapters each = 50 chapters (Levels)
TheMightyEthan
They've only confirmed one season for sure, but if it's successful the intent is to follow it up with future seasons.
Mister Jack
Are the spartan ops episodes only up for limited periods? Like, after one week's episode, is it taken down for the next week or does it stay up?
TheMightyEthan
It seems to stay up. I don't know if they'll stay up forever, but so far they have. My understanding is it's basically like DLC (though the first season comes on the disc), so once you've downloaded it you've got it for as long as you keep that storage device. Mal
Holy crap are those two Ragnarok missions are HARD. The second one is easier but damn. Thank god for respawns since there are enough Hunters, Banshees and Elites for a whole campaign. Edit: After watching all the terminal videos... I feel that the Didact fears human ascendancy. He knows that we were on a path to overtake the Forerunners but the only reason they won was the Flood really took the toll on the humans (Who were running and cleansing infected Forerunner planets so they can be covering their tracks). Even then his long battle with that ancient human admiral was apparently still really damn tough. So he's just a really jealous "god" of sorts. He sees his successors and refuses to let go. He was beaten, in a way but... I don't see how he can come back as a threat. Halo 5 got to introduce some new guys I think. With that said... I think the Flood may come back. For sure the Didact is not gone but if he wants to do a final push to stop human ascendancy, he could release the Flood again (He should know where the other Rings are which hold some samples). He and his Prometheans are the only Forerunners left. So not like he has much to lose. Edited November 21, 2012 by MaliciousH
Hot Heart
Only played 6 games so far but I am loving the multiplayer. I got into the swing of things very quickly...except for when I crouched behind a guy instead of assassinating him. Fortunately, my friend was there to stop that being a total disaster. TheMightyEthan
Do you have melee on the stick or something?
Hot Heart
No, I'm using the default controls (RB for melee) when I'd been used to the default Halo 3 controls (B to melee), which I carried through into Reach.
TheMightyEthan
You should switch to Boxer. It allows you to melee, shoot, throw grenades, and use equipment all without taking your thumbs off the sticks. Also it puts crouch on the stick. B becomes sprint, which I think is a good place for that.
Faiblesse Des Sens
I was always a fan of Boxer.
Hot Heart
It allows you to melee, shoot, throw grenades, and use equipment all without taking your thumbs off the sticks. So does default. I prefer Sprint where it is, too. It's just the switch to the B button that trips me up; I'm so used to punching dudes. Funnily enough, I checked my Halo 3 service record and most my kills came from melee. Thanks for the tip, but I'm sure I'll just get used to them! Chewblaha
I like Recon. I adapted to it so well in the melee-heavy Reach, though I've found it to be even more efficient now that I rarely even get in close enough for melee kills. Baconrath
This game done went and ate all mah loadouts ಠ_ಠ
Mal
It ate mines during the very beginning so I didn't inconvenience me in the slightest. Now, maybe. I do find myself going out with the a lightrifle/AR combo. Screw the DMR. Edit: Spartan Ops Episode 4... Seems like the Librarian may be alive. I thought she went to Earth for her final days (As I recall from Halo 3) but I guess she actually stayed with the Didact. She did shoot him so I guess she feels guilty. So is it safe to say stuff are getting recon'd and such? Edited November 26, 2012 by MaliciousH
Baconrath
The weak spot on the knights is their face, right? I'm on the third mission on Legendary and it takes like a whole Light Rifle to kill one and I think that's dumb. I got to be doing something wrong. fun challenge =?= bullet sponges
TheMightyEthan
To the extent they have a weak spot yes, it's their face. On Legendary they're much much weaker to short range weapons like the scattershot and assault rifle than they are to long range weapons like the lightrifle and DMR. *Edit* - Also, always always ALWAYS take out those flying fuckers first. Not only do they put up shields in front of your target, but they will actually resurrect enemies you've already killed. Mal
The in-game dialogue also mentioned to kill the watchers. Its comes by really fast so its pretty easy to miss. Those guys take 4-5 solid Lightrifle shots to kill. I find it easiest to just blast them with the assault rifle The knights can be killed, if I recall correctly, with half to 3/4 of the mag since I recall killing two in a row without reloading. So yes, aim for their faces especially when you expose their face.
Hot Heart
With the lightrifle, you need at least one of the shots to be scoped to do more damage or something like that. Even on normal they're bullet sponges.
TheMightyEthan
Does the lightrifle actually do more damage scoped? I know it always uses 3 rounds when you fire, but I thought the difference was that if you're scoped it combines all 3 into one super round, whereas un-scoped it rapidly fires 3 smaller rounds like the battle rifle, but that the total damage was the same (assuming all 3 rounds hit). Hot Heart
Nah, I linked a video a few pages back about how the rifles compare and it shows the difference between scoped and non. Kills in about 4 shots, I believe. Since that I seem to recall people having confirmed that only one shot needs to be scoped. Did a quick search and found a video Not sure if it translates into singleplayer exactly the same, but I figure it's useful to know. Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
Bungie really screwed the pooch in Halo 2 when they didn't include the line "Welcome to Earf."
