TheMightyEthan
How had I not heard of this game before?! Apparently it's a Steam punk/Dickensian stealth action game... looks really cool. Some new screens just went up today: http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/20/latest-dishonored-screens-depict-steam-punk-x-dickens-crossover/
madbassman39
This looks awesome. I don't care if steam punk became too cool and is therefore uncool now, I love steam punk. So this has my attention! First time I've heard of it.
TheMightyEthan
If I had just seen those screens with no explanation I probably would have thought they were for Bioshock Infinite.
TheMightyEthan
So I just watched a couple of interviews with the devs. They say calling it steam punk is not accurate, the terms they used were "retro-futuristic industrial" (which just sounds like steam punk to me) and "neo-victorian". Though looking at some of the concept art some of the stuff does look more like high-tech sci-fi than steam punk. Like these things:
Luftwaffles
Oh man, that screenshot gives off some total Bioshock and Half-Life 2 vibes. If a game has an art style of those two games combined, I don't really care if doesn't play great.
TheMightyEthan
The lead dev worked on Half-Life 2.
SomTervo
I like almost all of the ideas in it, but I'm really not confident about the execution. Those guys don't seem the types who'll be able to tie together all of these fairly chaotic gameplay mechanics together. It sounds very scrappy, and that narrative probably won't be great. But it still looks like it'll be really fun, and if they get it right it'll be excellent.

Waldorf and Statler
Hadn't heard about this game till I saw the trailer earlier today. Looks interesting to say the least. Apparently the devs have worked on some pretty decent titles [even read they worked on Bioshock 2]. If true, Bioshock's 2 gameplay was far superior to the first and story-wise they didn't have much playing room so this time they should. As far as the trailer goes, I'm interested in an assassin game in this dystopian future. If it's open world even better.
deanb
Not as Half-Life 2-ey as I expected from the initial concept art shots they sent out. However it's very definitely bioshock-ey.
Luftwaffles
I'm seeing a weird Resistance 3 - Assassin's Creed - Half-Life 2 - Bioshock mashup here. Looks interesting to say the least, and the setting looks fantastic.
Yantelope V2
Yeah, looks bioshockish to me. Don't forget rule #1. Never get excited about CGI trailers.
Faiblesse Des Sens
CGI FMVs are just so... uninteresting. We know the game isn't going to play or look anything like that based on everything that's been talked about before. I'm trying not to let it kill my interest as I understand this is the marketing team's work... but still.
SomTervo
With you, FDS. However, I'm still shocked that nobody's mentioned Thief. Imho this trailer looks nothing like Bioshock, a tiny bit like HL2 (with the stalkers, same art director after all), a lot like Assassin's Creed (though from info in gameplay previews and actual shots, the game is nothing like this), but hugely like Thief. The same droning music, focus on sheer darkness, a more Renaissancey feel, and even a guy with a voice exactly like Garret's, albeit slightly higher pitched. But anyway, to my mind a comparison with Thief is infinitely higher than any of those other games. Makes me feel a little more positive about this. The actual gameplay sounds fun in theory (read from a few large previews) but I don't feel confident it'll be very solid. Sounds scrappy and messy overall, chaotic in a bad way. (Playing through Thief: Dark Age for the first time currently, and going to replay Thief II and Deadly Shadows, and man have those games aged well.) toxicitizen
I'm liking the look of it and yeah and I'm actually glad to see it looks nothing like HL2. Gameplay would've been preferable, obviously, but I'm loving the art style and general feel of the world shown so far so I'm looking forward to seeing more. Also, I hadn't really made the connection while watching the trailer but I agree Kenshi. Now that you mention it, it looks a lot like a more technologically advanced version of the Thief universe. SomTervo
Totally, with more focus on a tyrannical or dictatorship government. Thief was never about governmentey things. I meant to say above, apparently some of the team making this worked on Thief, too. Not that this means anything, particularly.
Waldorf and Statler
There's not a gameplay video, but they do have a video where they show early in-game graphics and locations. The neo-victorian thing is starting to grow on me [and my penis] and the art direction on some of the enemies/targets is very cartoony.
P4: Gritty Reboot
Art style looks bizarre, like it's all over the place thematically. I'm willing to give it a shot though.
CorgiShinobi
Art style looks bizarre, like it's all over the place thematically. I'm willing to give it a shot though. I agree, and same here. It gives off a lot of prior AAA title vibes, but I'm sure it can make itself its own game.
TheMightyEthan
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOZPGt0Gflg Couple dev interviews about the design philosophies behind the game. Pretty interesting.

Alex Heat
When I initially heard about Dishonored, I was vaguely interested. When the trailer finally came along and showcased the world and all the potential therein...it was boners o'clock. I have no vested interest in steampunk, but oh sweet baby jesus, it looked so good!
deanb
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2012-dishonored/730754 And the Bioshock meets Assassins Creed meets Half Life vibes continue.
CorgiShinobi
A rather great trailer if you ask me, but E3 hasn't even started so can't say it's a favorite yet. And it's true, I'm finding it hard to disconnect similar games to Dishonored. Every time I see a "Tall Boy" (or whatever), I think, "Yep, Half-Life 2!" deanb
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmOogPD2ROI It doesn't look as good visually as it does in the trailers. Gameplay looks neat though.
