Dishonored

I always keep a save on the Wale just before starting the next level for just that reason.

Also, I learned that from the pause menu you can check your stats for the current mission specifically, so if you think you may have been seen or something but aren't sure you can check that. That's how I learned that killing hounds doesn't count against clean hands.

Yeah I do check my stats and make sure that no one is dead before I quicksave, but on this occasion I think a domineoed unconscious person must have fallen off or something idk. It's annoying as fuck given that I'm at the Duke's mansion. :/ Kind of don't want to bother playing any more now.

I couldn't find any confirmation of this, but the clockwork soldiers sound uncannily like KOTOR's HK-47. I know the actor who voiced HK-47 voiced Hiram Burrows in Dishonored 1, but I could not find any information on whether he voices the clockwork soldiers in 2. Seems like he does, though.

Just started the clockwork mansion as Emily and I am woefully unprepared to take out the soldiers stealthily, it seems.

The clockwork soldiers' comments are debugging recordings made by Jindosh, who was voiced by John Gegenhuber.  I can't find any confirmation that he definitely voiced the soldiers, but I think it's a safe assumption.

It's extremely difficult to take out the soldier's stealthily.  The best way I found is to use the springrazors, and even then it takes two hits to kill one.  And be careful doing it around humans if you're going for a clean hands run because sometimes the springrazor will just destroy its head, which deactivates it's IFF, so it will attack anyone around it.

I did. The only issue I had was that there was some weird stuttering, but I was able to fix that by turning off vsync in game and then reenabling it through my graphics card control panel. Other than that it ran great.

I just requested a refund on Steam. 70 minutes in and whilst the game isn't the horrible mess it was at launch, it stills runs poorly on my PC (it shouldn't be this bad) and I'll grab it on my PS4 when the price lowers. Game looked like ass, I had this annoying frame rate issue and everything looked blurry or completely out of focus for the majority of the time. Poor.

Maybe it'll look better when I'm sat 10 feet away from my telebox, either way, for now I'm utterly disappointed.

Everything is above, or at the recommended level, I just don't think the game is particularly well built.

I've got my refund, I'm still excited to play it but I'd rather play it on my console without having to worry about optimising it.

Right now I can get it cheaper on PC, but I too worry about it's performance. My GPU is what's outdated (gtx 760) and right now I'm really only looking at older or indie games on my PC.

If we purchase 2, can we still get the Definitive Edition of the first game, or was that a "limited time" near launch? I had the first game on PS3 and had one of the DLC which I never finished. I tend to be a perfectionist when it comes to stealth and I ended up distracted with another game. I believe it was that witches one with the antagonist assassin.

EDIT: To clarify I did finish the main game, just none of the DLC. Aren't the witches a part of the sequel? Would I be lost story wise?

If you want the Definitive Edition of the first one I have a PC code for it that you can have.  You may be worried about the second one running but that card should handle the first no problem (I played it on a GTX 470...)

You wouldn't feel lost without playing the DLC, but if you do play it you'll notice more stuff, and some things won't seem to come out of nowhere.

Thanks for the offer Ethan, but I ended up going with a PS4 copy. I price-matched GameStop at Best Buy as GameStop was still matching Amazon's offer (even after it was gone). To get the free Dishonored Definitive Edition, you've got to have a Limited Edition. Best Buy had two copies of the game left, one was a Limited Edition and the other was the now regular edition of the game.

That's what I was worried about with getting the game online as the cheaper PC option was for a physical copy and sometimes you don't always get the Limited Edition.

Dishonored 2 is releasing a demo/trial later this week. It says first three missions, but I'm not super sure how far that'll get you. I'd guess you'd at least have the opening in Dunwall, the first area in Karnaka leading to rescuing Sokolov?

Anywho since this first opened for me on the front page I had a browse and some of you were kinda sceptical on the series.

I like almost all of the ideas in it, but I'm really not confident about the execution. Those guys don't seem the types who'll be able to tie together all of these fairly chaotic gameplay mechanics together. It sounds very scrappy, and that narrative probably won't be great.

But it still looks like it'll be really fun, and if they get it right it'll be excellent.
