TheMightyEthan
RPS says Spring 2016. As far as I can tell that hasn't actually been officially announced yet, but Cara Ellison (former RPS columnist) is working on Dishonored 2 so perhaps they've gotten a back-channel scoop. *Edit - If true, this is much better than Fall 2016, or Fall 2017 which I feared after they didn't even announce a release year. *Edit 2 - Here's a video of the after-show Dishonored 2 interview, which might have more info. Watching it now. Edited June 15, 2015 by TheMightyEthan
deanb
It's in Karnaca, Corvos home in the Mediterranean equivalent (in that Dunwall was London-ish) http://www.gamespot.com/articles/dishonored-2-lets-you-choose-between-two-playable-/1100-6428091/ Apparently there was some post-trailer chit chat from the devs where the "one or the other " came from and the locale. TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I just posted the video. They do confirm Spring 2016 release also. In the interview they also make clear that you can't switch, and say that "for story reasons that makes sense" so I'm guessing you're right that whoever you don't pick dies, or is at least injured or captured or something. toxicitizen
Yeah, "whoever you don't pick dies" is my guess as well. And it's kinda funny that it's not happening in Tyvia. Guess that means those Darkness of Tyvia leaks were completely fucking bogus, then.
TheMightyEthan
21 things we know about Dishonored 2. I like this part that I view as a not-so-subtle dig at Thief: Arkane says it's preserving the systems that allow for experimentation with the special abilities. "When we put an element in the game, we don't put it in the game and attach it to something," Smith says. "We make it general purpose work so you can attach it anywhere. The worst thing in the world would be if Blink had attach points. That would be the dumbest idea because it means you can only go if we want you to go. TheMightyEthan
November 11, 2016. Get hype! This is the only game that rivals Mirror's Edge for my most anticipated game of the year.

Mr. GOH!
Nice. Better play the DLC for the first one to get caught up on the lore.
Mister Jack
I did enjoy the first one, but I'm going to wait and see if they fixed the power imbalance.
TheMightyEthan
I already preordered, was just waiting for a release date.
toxicitizen
I'm actually glad it's a fall release. At first I was expecting late spring/early summer and I'd like to get a replay/achievements clean-up run done on the original before the sequel comes out, so this gives me plenty of time for that. Although, it'd be nice to see a Steam store page soon. With the recent discovery that Bethesda developed their own fucking launcher, I'm kinda worried they'll be moving towards having their own distribution and storefront and fuck everything about that. I don't want yet another unwanted shitty fucking app to deal with. edit: Oh my god, Corvo will be voiced by the guy that voiced Garrett in the original Thief games. Holy shit, that's fucking awesome! TheMightyEthan
Game Informer has a video interview where they talk about the gameplay updates: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2016/05/04/new-details-on-dishonored-2s-gameplay.aspx?utm_content=bufferf6d90&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer
TheMightyEthan
Not from the video, but apparently the story is a little different and some of your assassination targets are different depending on whether you play as Emily or Corvo. deanb
Man you can really fuck about in this game if you know what you're doing.

Saturnine Tenshi
For someone who enjoyed the first game as much and as vocally as I did, I haven't really been keeping up with 2. I suppose it's in the hopes that I'll come into it fresh (as with most games I think I'll enjoy). What's the general impression you guys have of it? TheMightyEthan
General impression: I NEED IT IN MY VEINS!
deanb
I think there's only trailers n such out so far, nothing gameplay wise except in writing. I imagine we'll see more in a couple hours at the Bethesda stream.
deanb
The short n shiny gameplay trailer Their gameplay sequence from the confrence, though ends before they covered the time travelling stuff (If anyone knows of a source on that pls link, it was pretty cool) Both Emily n Corvo are now voiced characters, and I suspect from the way they presented that you'll play as one or the other that one of them doesn't make it out the prologue alive. But we'll see. I'm sorta mulling over who I'd play, Corvo has the abilities you see in original, but amped up a little, and Emily has a mostly new set of skills. Seems like they're gonna have the way you carry out missions play more into the overall story now too, in the original there was the High/Low chaos and some remarks made post mission (though only one I've noticed so far of note that wasn't ambiguous was the note left to Corvo from Pendleton if you don't kill his brothers). I'm slightly miffed the overall arc seems to be another "you're set up for murders, now prove your innocence" but that's just the framework to exploring a neat world n cool missions. Also since I'm replaying: The place where the majority of Dishonored 2 is set is Corvos home (there's a thing with Dishonored in that there's natural suspicion of Corvo since he's not local). deanb
Some more Dishonored, though a lot of it pulled from previous videos. Very lethal play through here I carry on forgetting this is an upcoming game, it's sorta put down in my head as a winter sale/summer sale kind of game I guess. deanb
Emily gameplay on High Chaos. A couple bits we've seen before. The clockwork mansion looks great though. Also Sokalov back, or at least referenced.
