TheMightyEthan Posted October 20, 2013 Report Share Posted October 20, 2013 I think it's inconsistent in that Reveal hidden contents in TLA it's claimed that firebending came from people studying dragons, airbending from sky bison, waterbending from the earth and moon, and earthbending from the badger moles. Now, a perfectly plausible explanation is that that's just the legend that people had, and perhaps people managed to first master the elements by studying those creatures, but the true origins of the actual ability were lost to time (it was 10,000 years ago, after all). Also, this explanation actually makes a little bit more sense as to why some people are born benders and some aren't, and why you're either able to bend a certain element or your not. If you could learn bending just by studying natural creatures then there doesn't seem to be any reason why someone from the Fire Nation couldn't go study badger moles and become an earthbender. Or why they couldn't just be taught earthbending. If the different bendings are actually powers granted by the lion turtles then that explains why you can't just go learn other types. On powers Reveal hidden contents Given it was referred to as "fire tossers" at one point, I think Bending is sort of the learning of the abilities. Like being able to boil an egg and be a chef. You're born with (or given) the innate gift of the element, but bending is learning it. In this case we did see Wan learn firebending from a dragon, just as we'd seen with Aang and Zuko, and had been told was the case with previous benders. On Unaloq Reveal hidden contents Yeah I'd like to know how he got through the portal in the first place. I think it's clear he's tainted in some way and there's some vague plan to bring back Vata for some reason or another. I'm fine with watching for now though, not too much to formulate theories on As for the episodes, liked the style. Was nice to expand the lore a massive amount, and a nice break of sorts in time for the final stretch. Shame it took this long to come around. If you recall the other people blessed with the "Fire power" during Wan's story were all amazed at how Wan was able to use the fire like if it were part of its body (a martial art vs a weapon). And I think that's what bending largely is. This makes perfect sense since it explains why not everybody is a bender. Because if that were the case all you would have to do is learn the movements and martial arts and you'd be able to bend. Wan learned how to properly fire bend from the dragon. The priests didnt' really seem to be bending the same way Aang would air bend. You also have to think what someone would be like, in Korra's time, if they never found a master to teach them. I swear, if bender wasn't already a catch-all term in the series, we'd have "tosser" for those who are not trained in the bending arts. It's up on Nick, though I had to disable AdBlock to get through the video as the video breaks for ads would stop the video. I'm really thinking my theory, that a few others had too, is possible accurate. I honestly can't see... Reveal hidden contents Unaloq and Vaatu's relationship as a "become my host" type. Still, tons of people are still on that bandwagon. Korra received amnesia therapy, thus she's now likeable and realizes her mistakes. I won't go into too much detail as I want you guys to watch the episode. Thing is, I'm getting upset by Mako and Asami right now. I know she's been through a lot, but... Reveal hidden contents He doesn't just want to become a "dark avatar" for the sake of power. He wants to either fuse with Vaatu in order to balance out Korra or release Vaatu and then somehow get Raava out of Korra to get things back like they were before Wan separated them in the first place. That which combined the two and created the Avatar would seemingly be able to break the bond as well. Also don't have to necessarily get Raava out of Korra. Just kill her. Raava will grow from Vaatu. Which also can work in reverse. If Vaatu is killed he'll just re-grow out of the Avatar. And Unaloq's thinking was relatively sound, their method of entering Spirit world means they maintain bending, which is normally a weakness to entering the spirit world. I really hope they're broken up for good because if Mako changes his mind AGAIN and dumps poor Asami for Korra AGAIN I'm going to lose all sympathy for the guy. I would say she should get with Bolin but I think he's over her by now. He's realized that he's not only rich, he's also Nuktuk. He could probably be neck deep in pussy if he wanted to be. At least at this point you could still write it off as a rebound moment. Asami's life nearly went down the drain and the only positive she had was Mako's presence. Mako broke up with Korra and his brother is becoming famous, thus Bolin has something to rub in Mako's face when Mako wants to have the smallest of conversations with him. Why should that matter to him? Because when he was a cop, he had weasel coworkers and a boss who seemed to hate anything he did. They really only have each other now, and because of their past, it's giving Asami nostalgia and Mako some peace of mind. The only thing I remember about Book 3 (it is being worked on) is that there were some stills of Asami in what looked like Tenzin's home with the airbender kids. I can't imagine Asami's life getting completed ruined, however I'm beginning to think people's suspicions of the Varrick and Republic City story arc will carry over into the next season. Harmonic Convergence seems way more important than a greedy (yet funny) entrepreneur and Mako in jail. I can see it now... Korra and Tenzin's entire family return to Republic City. Everything looks normal, though there seems to be... Bolin?! His half-naked figure plastered on building sides advertising Nuktuk 17: Hell Thawed. Korra walks the street she left behind only a few months, but to her surprise she finds another familiar face. It's Asami, turning tricks just to make ends meet. She rushes over, and there she learns that Mako has been jailed and will soon face the electric chair. Skip forward to episode nine, where Korra and a fugitive Mako find Bolin face down in a pile of cocaine and dead hookers. They turn him over, but all he can muster is "Ginger" before passing away. Before the two of them can mourn Bolin's death, Varrick steps out of the bathroom shocked not only at the presence of Korra and Mako, but that he forgot his pants.
