The Legend of Korra

The Promise - Part 2 arrives this week (Amazon estimate says Tuesday, June 5th), so we'll see if Toph actually teaches her students. In Part 1, you only see the students and Toph tells them to practice as she is about to launch herself into the air and onto Appa.

And you bring up a good point Mister Jack, though you have to wonder how much Team Avatar & Co. made known in history texts.

:o

Well, will you look at that... Meh, I doubt it would have arrived during the weekend, not to mention Amazon has the graphic novel for $6.59 when the retail is $10.99.

Now to wait until, lets see... October 9th.

Yeah, they read like an episode in length, so imagine taking nearly a year to see three episodes. :|

Let me say, it's rare that a television series ever make me physically gasp when something amazingly shocking goes down.

I imagine Tarrlok wasn't with the Equalists now and that he was in his scheme simply for his own power. Having that gear could have come from, say, the police department's evidence room? Just saying it was something he had on hand.

But I got to get this one out of the way first: WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU AMON?!

I have two theories, well three but two are very similar.

1. Dude really does have something spiritual going on with his abilities.

2./3. Amon is a more powerful bloodbender, or he can bend energy. The idea being that he was momentarily slowed down my Tarrlok's control of his body, but was moving his own body to counter Tarrlok's will. If he's not bloodbending, then somehow (very unlikely) he has reverted back to the ancestral bending and controlled his body based on the energy and not the fluids.

As we saw, the TLA energybending light show was for style and a visual representation of the energies present. When Avatar Aang removed Yakone's bending, it looked very similar to Amon's stance.

Oh yeah, Avatar Aang, Chief of Police Toph, and Councilman Sokka. Not quite how I imagined Aang's voice, but Toph and Sokka were classic. "I once took out a man with my boomerang who could firebend with his mind. Not to mention the Twinkletoes bit.

Some might feel a little bit bummed that we didn't see Aang, but at least we know what all the flashbacks have meant (with a few added bonus scenes). We have more questions now too. It's very suspicious that Amon knew where Tarrlok was keeping Korra, though what might be more likely is that he followed Tarrlok given that, "Hey we didn't take her. That Tarrlok guy did something with the Avatar. Equalists, lets see what he's up to."

In closing, "pantbending" and how no man is safe from Lin's fingers.

EDIT: Oh, and someone carefully scanned the last eight episodes and the Feathered Hat Guy (or whatever) has appeared 25 times!

EDIT2: Said moment where I gasped and nearly fell out of my seat.

(I'd make it longer, but it's already 1.91MB.)

The Makorra evidence is really piling up...Too bad. I was a Kolin guy myself.

"Borra" is the shipping name, but honestly ever since the second episode's ending they really hinted at this "two lovers meet" angle, especially when Mako answered for himself when Bolin asks about himself having a relationship with Korra.

NO! I feel really bad for Asami. :( Masami all the way! (is that the shipping name? I don't check anything but this thread unless I'm googling for something specific)

Yeah, that's it.

I wouldn't have minded if Mako and Asami stayed together. Though, based on the season finale preview, it looks like Mako and Korra get to team up and chances are something big will happen (relationship or not).

Wait, you think

Amon is Aang and Katara's other kid, Bumi?

*Edit* -

Oh, I also wanted to say earlier, but forgot:

I do think Amon is using spirit bending, I don't think it's something new and unseen before.

Yeah I guess I'm saying that.

The episode did also have a point of Sokka saying how the special bending can be passed genetically, and also showing Aang using Amon-style energy bending (unlike the TLA stylised version), so I think it's within reason that Amon has some kind of relation to Aang. Amon has shown himself to be able to Energybend, like Aang, resist bloodbending, even more so than Aang(though Katara is a stright up bloodbender), and potentially also airbend too (see the part where Amon attacks Korra this episode, he flows out of the fog a bit)

There's also the potential he's the yang of the Avatar. The Agent Smith to Korras Neo. Not an "anti-avatar" as I think that'd have the same effect as Smith attacking Neo, but a spiritual balance.
