TheMightyEthan
I checked it out, it's not the first 5 minutes, it's 5 minutes from somewhere in the middle.
deanb
So that was all pretty good. Very much a strong return to form and a reason to be going around the world and not sticking to a couple spots again. New bad guys, return of Zuko, seems to have found its funny again too. Alongside the whole new spirit vine stuff, new airbenders stuff. You can tell it's a return to form when "The Dai Li say there are no airbenders in Ba Sing Se" Oh and Zuko has a dragon, which is pretty damn cool. TCP
So far way better than Season 2. Plus no pro-bending sport whateveryacallit. Plus my boy Zuko is back. This is where Zuko and Iroh stayed in "The Earth King": This is where Mako and Bolin stayed in "The Earth Queen":
CorgiShinobi
I found out Friday that I no longer get Nick, which I'm not surprised I didn't notice sooner as Korra is the only reason I'd watch the channel. Now I have to find a decent source with good quality. I'm hoping Nick's website will air the episodes on a regular basis, but for the life of me I can't remember when they would post them during Book 2. Wasn't it Monday, but at the same time I thought it was sooner?
TCP
Pretty sure Book 2 was Friday as well, I remember downloading it illegally and watching it Saturday morning. Also did the animation look worse than season 2 to anyone else? Edited June 29, 2014 by The Cowboy Poet
TheMightyEthan
Last season Nick posted them the day after they aired on TV. Weird that they're not there now...
deanb
Well as a Brit I'm not sure where airs them or when so I just go to swedish sites. I'd say on an animation side of things it's improved, but it's been a while since I watched Book 2. Though I swear I remember saying that it improved on Book 2 over Book 1, and it was all certainly vastly improved over TLA. My housemate complained other day she couldn't watch it as she hadn't watch TLA and LoK Bk 1 & 2, but I'd sworn I'd given her the option to join me and Lewis. I did point out to her it's on Netflix and I'd be up for rewatching it all. I already do watch bits of it with my wee sister when I'm over at there's. Apart from a couple episodes it's generally a very re-watchable show.
TCP
After watching last night's episodes, again, I can't get over how much better this season is than the last two... just a total 180. I figured Toph was dead, but sounds like she's alive and kicking, I'm sure that means we'll get to see her again. Also the two episodes back to back is pretty great, though it sucks this season will be over in a few weeks.
CorgiShinobi
Been motivated to post in the thread again after the news that Nick is going full retard by limiting Legend of Korra to online broadcast for the remaining episodes of Book 3. I don't believe we should be worried about Book 4 as it is being worked upon and Nick did pay for the final quarter of Legend of Korra. We'll find out more at Comic Con. I still don't receive Nick with my television lineup, but like I said before, I didn't notice before and after Legend of Korra finishes I won't give a care in the world. Nothing else has ever obtained my interest in many years from the channel, but with how Nick has been treating Legend of Korra, I honestly wish for them to suffer from their mistakes. I've had to watch Legend of Korra not on their website, but I've had to go watch a pretty good recording on a massively ad filled website where, without AdBlock, 40 ads would run and bog down the video playback. I love Book 3, and while I like Book 2, that part of Legend of Korra felt hollow at times where either the writing could get lazy, or some of our favorite characters were only half the person we grew to love in Book 1. The current episodes have been fantastic and we're getting to see some of the legacy from the previous Team Avatar. People are hoping to see an elderly Toph as everyone who talks about her refers to a present tense and not past tense. Korra is the first metalbending Avatar and we have NEW airbenders! It's all so wonderful, but I guess reruns of Spongebob bring the big cash money for Nickelodeon. EDIT: Proof of "various sites" for online airing of Book 3. TheMightyEthan
Yeah, apparently when the leak happened everyone at Nick decided to throw their brains out the window. *Edit* - Though apparently this season is on Hulu at least, that's good. Though for some reason they're not on until 3 weeks after air date. Edited July 24, 2014 by TheMightyEthan
CorgiShinobi
The theory/idea was that during SDCC we would have been told the premiere date and seen more marketing. Instead, the middle of Book 3 leaks and Nick rushes out the majority of the season to "counteract" the situation. Instead, it was half-baked and Nick had this phobia of putting episodes online for their own website. Now you can watch the first five episodes of Book 3 online through Nick. So our options are Nick's site, Amazon, Google Play, and Hulu for online viewing. I'll see how Amazon handles it, and even if it requires Prime, I've got that down. We're going to be getting one episode at a time now so Book 3 should last longer than two months after Nick's treatment. Either way, someone on the subreddit posted a relevant clip from a rather older sitcom that fits too perfectly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6-UuNcKBMI
CorgiShinobi
Sorry to double post, but it's a trailer for the remaining episodes.
TCP
Asami vs Bolin... excellent. When will those two crazy kids finally get together?!?
CorgiShinobi
So unless Hulu gets their act together on Book 3 episodes, both Amazon and Google Play have the latest episode for purchase. This means Nick.com will be your free solution for watching the rest of Book 3. With my ISP issues, I had to try a workaround and it did work. Nick's new video player looks cluttered, but it at least works better than a lot of others I've used online. Anyway, The Stakeout is definitely one of the best episodes of Book 3 so far. It had some of that Last Airbender charm to it where you have Team Avatar going around villages and meeting different people. Also, Book 3 has been doing a good job of referencing the previous Books, so while there isn't an overall epic tale like in Last Airbender, previous events are recognized for better world-building. Oh, and I don't think Su is going to like... what happened to Aiwei. Whole reason for letting Korra go was to bring back Aiwei, but I'm not sure anyone is going to agree to hopping into the Valley of Lost Souls. I don't think Tenzin's self-identity stuff will work again.
TCP
Yeah, she'll especially be pissed if Su is also a Red Lotus. Which she definitly is. And it'll be up to Toph to finish her off. BOOK IT!
CorgiShinobi
New episode today if anyone forgot, and like I said in my status, it's serious business. The Red Lotus is this enigma of an antagonist group. Zaheer isn't outright imposing, though this mostly stems from his motive of taking away authority and power, much like Amon had done in Republic City. He'll casually allow for conversation at times, but only when it is befitting for him. His team has these curious traits, like Ghazan is rather relaxed and Ming-Hua has a tendency to perch herself higher when the team is sitting down. It takes you back to when Azula and her friends were given actual character and you could sympathize with them. Though honestly we haven't seen too much reason to be completely sympathetic towards them as Zaheer just keeps on hinting about having plans for the Avatar. He goes on about giving the people freedom, but it feels like if anyone was to stand in his way, even a common person, he'd have no problem taking them out. I don't see the group having a conflict like Azula's team, but I'm hoping for some kind of revelation in the next episode given our assortment of character at the Misty Palms Oasis. And I know people want Bolin to lavabend, but there has been too much build up for Bolin to metalbend. Sifu Toph just has to come swiftly riding on a mountain and slap some knowledge into him. CorgiShinobi
Dude, dude, dude... spoilers If you look at Fire Lord Zuko, you can definitely see how frail he has become in his old age. People were complaining how Zuko wasn't throwing out master level moves when facing the Red Lotus members, but I have to imagine tossing fireballs is one of the few things he can still do. I'm sure back in ATLA that Bumi was the only White Lotus Master that was over 90 years and could physically perform master level bending whereas Paku was probably in his 70's at most. TCP
To be fair, I didn't realize that the comic was right from the middle of that episode. Quickly done by the artist! Another fantastic Korra episode. The stage is set for Bolin to lava bend.
CorgiShinobi
The episode was leaked either Wednesday night or Thursday morning. Not to mention Nick went full retard and had two animated gifs of two spoilers ahead of the episode. The artist, Neodusk, has a ton more amazing LoK comics on his deviantART.

CorgiShinobi
I feel like now people can be okay with a horrible fate for the Red Lotus. Everyone was warming up to them as characters, but man, this episode was like them farting in your face after a nice helping of Taco Bell.
