deanb
Yeah. Pretty good. Kinda weird ending scene though. Hooray for Tenzin not being dead. Also figured Bolin would lava bend given how much they hung about on his inability to not metal bend. Weird metal city guard lass that suddenly gained speaking role and a name. I either wasn't paying attention at all during the series or she came out of nowhere totally unexplained. edit: Now they know what's possible edit2: So given There's only really one liquid metal and that's mercury, and she got mercury poisoning, I don't think she's gonna end up too well from this. Especially as they made a point of her being pretty ill after 2 weeks (Aang came back from death n fine in 2 weeks) rahter than her being back on her feet in hours. Of course childrens show, so they could magically make her fine, but on the other hand "children show" gotten a decent death count that last episode. Waldorf and Statler
I've never even heard of her, or anything she's been in (except two)... Daughter of Robin Williams and somewhat beloved by certain nerds, such as Nintendo geeks since she's a massive Zelda fan.
CorgiShinobi
Someone even pointed out how her character has a picture in one of the newspapers, though I'm not sure which episode. She seems to be getting too much attention if she were only suppose to be a minor. As such, people are on the "Red Lotus" train just as they did with Su and Opal. Anywho, I guess people got what they wanted. Bolin got to lavabend at the last minute and hold his own with Ghazan. I don't want to get into too much into detail, as trust me I could, but one thing I'd stress that was so fantastic about the finale was: How the Red Lotus' strengths were turned into their own weaknesses. P'Li either fried or completely blew up her own head when Su enclosed her armor around P'Li's head. Seems to be a common trait with combustion-benders: their own attacks kill them. Ming-Hua embodied herself with so much water that a little lightning bending was enough to knock her out (or kill her if that was Mako's intention). Honestly, I've always thought this was her weakness as she's always attached to water. Either way, she's dead because... Ghazan's own lavabending enclosed upon him. He did intend for it to happen, but lava itself is not discerning when it comes to its victims. I feel like at any time he or his own friends could have been hurt by his lava. Zaheer. Man, I feel like levitation/flying isn't that worth the power if you literally have to loose everything to gain the ability. Still, he always flew so high that when Korra brought him down, he hit hard. Luckily gravity doesn't seem to be such a deadly force in this universe. I mean, Korra survives like a 50 foot drop off a cliff A-OK.
TheMightyEthan
What do you mean you have to lose everything to gain the ability?
CorgiShinobi
Well, it's like what Zaheer said... He had no more earthly tethers and no type of attachment, thus entering "the void." His very own love had to be lost for him to fly, so people like Aang, Tenzin, or an Avatar really could never be able to fly because they have family, friends, and now the Air Nation is going out into the world to be peacekeepers, thus caring about the world. You have to be a loner who doesn't care about anything to enter "the void" just so you can fly better without a glider. Doesn't seem too worth it to me when you can be like Tenzin and carry around a staff. EDIT: It's why people are joking that Ryu, the basement dweller who appears to have joined the Air Nation now (at Jinora's ceremony), would be the next flying airbender. The guy is totally apathetic for anything going on around him! Edited August 23, 2014 by Atomsk88
deanb
Unless they have a super duper fast turn around I don't think she got a speaking and named part out of the blue cos of Robin Williams death Which was less than two weeks ago). Yeah Zaheer gained flight after P'Lis death. An "earthly tether". Lot of folks noting that Korra at this point is likely to be pretty down, there's been three books worth of folks pointing out the world doesn't need her, then Tenzin stepping in with the Air Nomads to help fill in Avatars balancing role while she's ill. Be interesting to see what they do with that.

TCP
BOOK 4 TRAILER. Us non-American peasants can use Hola to view this. DAT ENDING!! TOPH!!! TOPH!!!!!!!!!! EDIT: Edited September 26, 2014 by The Cowboy Poet
CorgiShinobi
From what we can tell in the trailer, and I'm sorry if anyone didn't watch it right now, but Toph is totally going to be Yoda for Korra. The Foggy Swamp reveals her inner fears/demons and must confront them to complete her training! deanb
Man, hard to believe it's been barely a couple months since the finale of Book 3. Will have a chunk of folks to watch it with this time around, other housemates wrapped up ending of Book 3 the other week (they started watching TLA after sitting in on me n Lewis watching the one where Lin and Su fight each other...which iirc was end of July, so didn't take them long to get through all the episodes). TCP
I didn't even realize that was Mako at first. He's kind of generic without his red scarf, and now that he looks kind of different, it's confusing. I thought it was Iroh (version 2), which was silly, because of course the creators have forgotten about Iroh.
CorgiShinobi
Other clip from yesterday. If this keeps up, I think Meelo might become a commander in the Air Nation Army.
TCP
Twinkletoes! Toph's voice actress was perfect (even though I figured she was about to pop up) I recognized her immediately. CorgiShinobi
You and the entire fandom enjoy that photo. It's the only "fun" image of adult Aang we have! Only thing that bothered me this episode is that Toph is basically wearing her old outfit. My own personal gripe. just thought they'd give us a spin on her old look. deanb
I imagine it's to help identify her as Toph. There's only a handful of outfits in the show really, helps make a very distinctive and recognisable visual palette of who's who both by character and nation.
TCP
KORRASAMI!!!! I hope we get another Avatar series (one day soon).
CorgiShinobi
I'm of the camp that felt it... was shoehorned in in terms of a main character relationship. I know the Korrasami shippers keep referring to previous Book 4 "hints" and the Book 3 finale moment, but I don't care for retroactively taking previous scenes and thinking "This means something different now that the series is over." I appreciate what feels like Bryke giving back to the fans for their continued support in the face of Nick's treatment of the show, but I can't help feeling like I'm getting the last cookie in the jar. I don't mean to bite the hand that feeds me this amazing series, but damn if I can't help seeing the effect Nick's budget cuts had in Book 4. Like, after I watched it a second time (with others), I noticed quite a few characters were especially mute. Bumi, Ikki, Jinora, and Kai were present, but didn't say one word. Everything was still animated beautifully, but perhaps there wasn't much left for the extra trimmings.
deanb
There was a couple moments in some of the episodes that were quite still except for anyone that's talking. We watched it earlier today and all the lasses were all *squee* at doing the thing. Anywho Tumblr moves fast.
