toxicitizen
Gotta say, the trailer is okay but not extraordinary.I'm still very much looking forward to seeing the movie, but my initial reaction to the trailer was nowhere near the level of excitement I had when I saw that first Dead Man's Chest trailer. I guess there just wasn't long enough of a gap between At World's End and this one?Anyway, I loved the first three movies, so I fully expect to enjoy this one as well. Any other fans of Captain Jack Sparrow in here?
Mister Jack
I like him and all, but he can't carry a whole movie by himself. And this is speaking more to Sparrow's depth as a character than Johnny Depp's talent as an actor.
iLjaG
I will watch it and love it because of Johnny Depp. Who needs substance?
toxicitizen
Yeah, him taking the protagonist spot should definitely be a bit weird. If there's one thing I'm worried about it's the possibility of the story being weak, but they still went ahead with it figuring that the character alone would be enough to carry the movie. Mister Jack
That's pretty much exactly my suspicion. These spin-offs featuring ensemble darkhorses are just a little too easy to get away with, so quite often they don't have much effort or consideration put into them. Mudkip3DS
The sad thing is that the majority of the people who go and watch the movie probably won't even know of the novel it was based on: I doubt that the movie's going to follow the plot of the novel completely either, other than searching for the Fountain of Youth. Heck, the only character I see that they've kept from the novel is Blackbeard himself! Au revoir, Chandagnac! Ah well… regardless, it'll probably be one hell of an adventure, eh? Strangelove
I hated the third movie, but im still going to watch this. The trailer looks pretty alright, except that its kind of lacking in anything memorable or fanastical.
deanb
I like the concept of evil mermaids. Seems somewhat close to Harpies, just I guess they didn't want to bring in ancient mythology too much (though they had the Kraken...) Barbosa was a good character I always thought. So Sparrow isn't alone. Also I assume Calypso will be back?
c hoertjes
They're still making these? The movies got stale like midway through the second one. The third film was truly awful. I'm getting tired of Depp playing this character, probably because in every other recent movie of his he acts just about the exact same. Go away, Sparrow.
