P4: Gritty Reboot
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1820893788/katalyka/posts/239764 Girl takes $7,000 in Kickstarter funds for a board game and has what appears to be some sort of mental breakdown a year later. Though her most recent update indicates that she's overcome whatever problems "the sun" had been giving her.
TheMightyEthan
So if I understand that right voices in her head told her to make this game, and then later were telling her not to make this game? I'm confused as to why the people commenting just kind of took that in stride, like "Yeah, totally, here's some help on how to get the cards printed."
Eleven
I'm confused as to why the people commenting just kind of took that in stride, like "Yeah, totally, here's some help on how to get the cards printed." I know! I was like "the comments are gonna be fun!" while reading her post but then I got to them and what the hell was that. Those are the most polite comments I've seen on the internet!

VicariousShaner
From the same people who asked you to give money (and succeeded) for Shadowrun Returns comes... SHADOWRUN RETURNS RETURNS (the mmo.)
TheMightyEthan
That logo is terrible, it makes it look like they spelled "Run" as "Wrun".
Mal
After a 6-7 months wait, Castle Story finally have a Kickstarter! I think they're doing it correctly. Back in January they had a video out which shows an early alpha build. At that point they could of done a Kickstarter but they didn't really have much to show so they took all these months to get something decent to finally do a Kickstarter with. MasterDex
I remember seen screenshots of this not too long ago. It looks interesting. I've said it before but I'll say it again. Minecraft has defined, if not created, a new genre of game. So what do we call it? Sandbox game doesn't do it justice and that's sort of taken up already. Sandbox-Mining-Builder? SMB? deanb
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1523379957/oculus-rift-step-into-the-game I'll save folks the bother: "It's a scam" "Well couldn't you do this by just taping two TVs to your glasses?" "Pfft as if they'll get Final Fantasy or Grand Theft Auto on that". In all seriousness it's a VR headset. That's really all that needs to be said. It's one of those products that is nice in theory cos it's a bit like the Holodeck, just in practice it isn't. And until we get the Holodeck it's a bit of a shitty technology hardly anyone will care about or use. How are the sales for that Phillips Ambient Nature(or whatever it was called), Razr Wands, or Kinect PC n all that lot? Sure there will be games that supprt it. Dig through and plenty of games support all sorts of obscure devices. Don't mean the consumers do.

toxicitizen
Not surprised in the least but we have the first confirmed case of a big publisher trying to abuse Kickstarter. http://www.destructoid.com/publishers-accused-of-trying-to-exploit-kickstarter-235292.phtml Too bad no names are given. I understand why but I'm really curious.

deanb
New blog post up: Kickstarter Is Not a Store Definitely a policy aimed at specific projects that harms every other one in its broads strokes. But I do agree with the sentiment.
deanb
A BBC and RPS article about a KS game that has missed its deadline/kinda been canned. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-20003916 http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/10/19/money-troubles-what-happens-when-kickstarters-fail/
deanb
http://www.bbc.co.uk...nology-20145764 Kickstarter is now out in UK. edit: And here's one of the new UK additions: Looks neat.
deanb
Alpha colony failed to hit it's goal of $50,000 by $28. Ain't that a kick in the nads. Also RPS did a roundup of succesful Kickstarter game projects n where they are now (like released, ocming soon, missed the mark etc) http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/11/28/the-kickstarter-successes-where-are-they-now/
deanb
http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/08/code-heros-buggy-kickstarter-has-backers-preparing-to-draw-lega/ Maybe something to keep an eye on. Could affect future crowd funding endeavours. Though it could be easily resolved with better communication, it doesn't strike me as a case of running with the cash. TheMightyEthan
Short of outright fraud I don't see backers getting too far in lawsuits against Kickstarter projects.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Short of outright fraud I don't see backers getting too far in lawsuits against Kickstarter projects. Hopefully, anyways. This entitled gamer shit is already bad enough.
deanb
Kickstarter is more than just gamers. And as noted this wasn't exactly funded by purely gamers (it's not much of a game anyway last I played of it).
Saturnine Tenshi
They deserve to be duped for backing it in the first place.
