Chewblaha
My theory: Walt kills Jack and the fuckers. Finds Jesse. Sees that he is now a slave and frees him. Jesse kills Walt and goes to the DEA. All is well in the world.
toxicitizen
No, it was 54 minutes. 75 minutes was with commercials. Really? Shit, I guess that means next week's episode should be about as long? That's too bad, I was hoping for a full 75mins finale. 54mins really doesn't seem that significantly longer than a regular ep. Maybe the extended time slot is also meant to cram in more commercials? I imagine the ratings for this show are at an all-time high right now. Anyway, this ep felt slow and uneventful compared to the last two but the breather was kind of welcome. All the pieces are pretty much set for next week, can't fucking wait! As for Chew's theory, it's been pretty clear from the start that Walt isn't making it out alive and it's been my belief for like two seasons that Jesse would be the one to kill him. For some reason, I had dismissed the idea over the course of the current run but now it kinda feels like a very likely outcome once again. So I guess I'm with you on that one. Faiblesse Des Sens
I hope it's 75 minutes without commercials. They definitely could use the time.
Mr. GOH!
I cannot wait for the finale. I wanna know why Walt left Gray Matter! Of course Saul survived; he's getting his own spinoff show! Edited September 24, 2013 by Mr. GOH!
Mister Jack
The spinoff is a prequel.

Vecha
I hope that at the least Walt's family gets the money...otherwise...what was the point?Unless they are going for the whole, "That's life, bitch" angle. Then...oh well.
Mister Jack
Yes, Vince Gilligan specifically said the spinoff is a prequel. If you think about it, what else could it be? Saul is in hiding now and his career as a lawyer is over.

Mister Jack
So on a serious note, does anyone have any theories for the finale? Remember that we know two things for sure: Walt bought a huge machine gun and he went back to his house to get the ricin. The question, then, is who are they meant for? I'm guessing the machine gun is meant for the neo-nazis (will be pretty surprised if it's anyone else) and the ricin is for his old Grey Matter colleagues. It's a pretty common guess that Walt will die by the end of the series, but someone made a compelling argument about how killing Walt in a blaze of glory is letting him get off too easy. What if, and this might be a stretch, but what if his impending war against his enemies gets everyone ELSE killed except for him? That would be his punishment, to live the last few months of his life knowing that his family has paid the ultimate price, that everything he did was for nothing, and that it is all his fault. It would definitely be darker than just killing Walt, but we'll see. As for my personal theory, I don't think Jesse will murder Walt. Jesse is the closest thing to a good person left on this show unless you count Walt Jr. He has done terrible things, but I don't think he's a killer. Before you go and bring up Gale, what I mean when I say he isn't a killer is that there are two kinds of people: those who are okay with taking a life and those who aren't. Walt is most definitely the former but Jesse is the latter. He isn't okay with killing people, but in Gale's case he felt he had no choice and that he had to do it to save the life of someone he thought was his friend. Unless Walt tries to kill him directly in the finale, he most definitely has a choice on whether or not to pull the trigger, and if he does then that will be the point of no return for him. He will have taken a life just for the sake of revenge, and thus he will have become what he despises. Remember that if all he wanted to do was kill Walt then he probably could have done that easily. Instead he teamed up with Hank to bring him down legally. As for Todd, if Walt doesn't kill him then I think it's within reason to think Jesse could do it. It's not quite the same situation, as Todd and his people are directly threatening not only his life, but the life of someone he cares about. Unless Walt snaps and tries to gun Jesse down personally, he is powerless to threaten him in any other way. I don't think it's impossible for them to cooperate one last time to take out a mutual enemy, though. As much as Walt and Jesse hate each other now, they probably hate Jack's gang much, much more after the things they've done.
Vecha
I like the theory about Walt going into Witness Protection...and queue Malcom in the Middle.

Mister Jack
I heard another theory. Since it is now impossible for Walt to get his money to his family, he instead uses it to ruin Grey Matter, possibly by transferring it to them in a way that's easily traceable back to him. I don't know about this one, but I do think Grey Matter will play into things somehow. They're the reason he finally decided to go back in the first place. Mister Jack
OH MAN, who else just caught the finale? I will admit that I had worries. A lot of otherwise great shows end up not knowing how to finish the story, but this show fucking delivered. It was everything I hoped for, and all the loose ends were tied up. I wouldn't change a thing about what I just saw.

Faiblesse Des Sens
Ultimately it looks like the Grey Matter stuff didn't really matter. Walt isn't stupid. He reacts emotionally to things at first but in the long run he thinks things out a lot more. So he likely just thought about why they would say that on TV and then figured out the best use of them which was to not kill them or bring up anything like that. Vecha
Ultimately it looks like the Grey Matter stuff didn't really matter. Bah. You could say that with any plothole, imo. Faiblesse Des Sens
How is that a plothole? A plothole and something that isn't fully explained are two different things. A plothole is something that doesn't make sense.
Vecha
How is that a plothole? A plothole and something that isn't fully explained are two different things. A plothole is something that doesn't make sense. And what you "explained" is fanboyish. Anyone could potentially "explain" away a plothole. Just look at a rabid fanbase of any show. And a plothole doesn't just have to be something that is nonsensical. Hence the wordage Hole. Also, if it wasn't such a big fucking deal...then the writer shouldn't have put such a big fucking deal on them in the first season AND bring them up again at the end of the second to last to rile up the wounds again(aha! All those who were asking about this since the beginning...just YOU wait and see!) Just have Walt "Break a Final Bad" some other way and show up at their house at the beginning of the episode. Wondering why Walt took a shit on Sundays instead of Mondays would be something that isn't fully explained. My wife said to me last night, "maybe it was a love triangle." Great, a plothole AND a cliche. Edited September 30, 2013 by Vecha
