Battra92
To a degree. Only breeders can have kid-making sex though. So wait, derogatory slang/surs are fine against heterosexuals?
deanb
Is breeders a derogatory term? (honest question) (It's a pokey-fun term at the folks of the stance homosexuals shouldn't be allowed to marry because they can't have kids, implying the main purpose of marriage is to procreate breed, hence "breeders". It's about on par with "limeys") DA:O they were still pretty much clothed. ME1 was definitely the more risque of the bioware sex scenes. Battra92
It's a pokey-fun term All slurs are pokey-fun terms when directed at someone else. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breeder_%28slang%29 Just because my wife and I choose to someday procreate does not lower us to the levels of animal husbandry. It implies that those with children are somehow less than humans (by being compared to livestock) for procreating. You may not think you're being offensive but understand that there are others who use that word to show their hatred and disdain for those in traditional marriages who choose to procreate. TheMightyEthan
So does it work like other slurs? Since I'm a heterosexual who intends to have kids in the biblical fashion, can I use the term breeder?
Yantelope V2
I am offended by the b-word. We should be called "procreating americans". Edit: Added the face to help indicate sarcasm. deanb
Well I apologise if you take offence to it. I have posted the definition by which I used it by, if you infer otherwise I guess that's your right. (funnily enough the term came about due to a lack of rights mind..) So does it work like other slurs? Since I'm a heterosexual who intends to have kids in the biblical fashion, can I use the term breeder? Well anyone can, it's not like it's trademarked. Just make sure you know what people will read from it before using it.

Thursday Next
Generally speaking, derogatory terms / slurs are fine when directed at people who are in a dominant/majority position. Hence, saying "Fat-cats" is fine when referring to people who are on very high wages with a lot of power. Conversely, calling people who are on benefits and have little influence "dole-scum" is not cool. Calling posh people "toffs" is ok, calling people from lower social circles "chavs" is not. Calling heterosexual people "straight" is fine, calling homosexuals "bent" is not. It's really a simple system. Of course, calling anyone any names is wrong, but the impact varies hugely depending on social status.
MasterDex
This is not what I thought this tread would be about. Who knows the chaos that could have ensued if the anti-gay protesters heard that EA had a breeding program for their gay-emails!
Strangelove
What about "Jews" and "China-man"? How exactly are those offensive? Jew is short for Jewish and a China-man is a man from China. Where's the offensive racism?
TheMightyEthan
I think those picked up their racist connotations because of how people have used them in the past, rather than the words themselves.
Vargras
DA:O they were still pretty much clothed. ME1 was definitely the more risque of the bioware sex scenes. There was ONE romance scene in ME3 that was maybe on-par with what was in ME1. Had to romance Liara for it, though. She's pretty much the only romance option who is essentially fully naked during their respective scene.

Nexus
Just be like me and use a catch-all term like "cunt" or "twat" to describe everyone - gay, straight, fat, thin, breeding, non-breeding, nice, evil. OFFEND EVERYONE.
Hot Heart
Generally speaking, derogatory terms / slurs are fine when directed at people who are in a dominant/majority position. Hence, why we are perfectly fine with being called 'limeys'.
