Mr. GOH!
You like to tank in SP games? Huh. I guess somebody's gotta. I am kinda leaning mage, since I am certain the mage/templar conflict is at the center of Inquisition's story. Then again, my Hawke was a mage and my Warden was a warrior, at least in my preferred first world state, so my OCD wants me to play a rogue so I can complete the set. I will say that the nice thing about playing a warrior in DA games is that it lets you more easily rotate more of your companions into and out of your party. When I've played as a rogue or mage, I get less adventuring time with the the rogue and mage companions since the optimal party is usually a mage, a rogue, and two warriors. TheMightyEthan
I think in MMO terms so I think of it as a tank, a healer, and two dps. Though in DA to be a tank you have to be a warrior, and to be a healer you have to be a mage, and you need at least one rogue for unlocking things, so basically what you said except I would say a tank, a mage, a rogue, and one more dps that can be whatever. Mr. GOH!
No healers in DA:I, by the way. Only potions. I usually take a sword and board warrior tank and a two-handed warrior for DPS and double the tanking. I will also run with a dual wield rogue and either a sword and board or two-handed warrior, with the last two slots filled by a mage and another rogue. My tanking comment was more aimed at the common perception that tanks in DA games are not as fun to play as any other class. Edited November 15, 2014 by Mr. GOH! TheMightyEthan
No healers in DA:I, by the way. Only potions. Yeah, but there is support magic which fills a similar purpose, if not method. Giving you shields and whatnot.
Waldorf and Statler
There are no healers in DA:I but the knight enchanter class has a spell that doesn't use mana/willpower that heals/revives every party member to full health and then continues to heal people for a certain amount of time. Obviously I'm sure the source will be hard to build up. Probably one of those things like a super that charges up throughout a battle and can be used once or twice, but still it's there. Not to mention the knight enchanter class is badass. What are your party configurations by the way? The way the game works most people will be able to build 1 regular tree and a specialization tree fully. My plans are: Inquisitor: Mage- elemental tree and knight enchanter tree Cassandra: Templar tree and whatever tree is made for tanks Varric: that alchemist tree and the tree for Bianca. Freddie Mercury: The tree focused on barriers/buffs and necromancer tree.
TheMightyEthan
I've been avoiding details because I want to go in fresh.
Mr. GOH!
I try to mix in different sets of companions. Part of the fun for me is seeing how many viable parties I can build. If I go mage, I will definitely try to have a full mage party of doom for a bit, for the first time in any DA game.
Waldorf and Statler
Somebody in GAF was doing just that GOH. When we all told him how unbalanced that would be as everybody would be ranged his answer was "mages are always OP I want to see if it's viable" lol. I can't argue with an experiment. Mr. GOH!
More viable than a party of four sword and shield tanks, I bet, unless DA:I tanks do more damage than they did in Origins or 2. The main configurations I'd like to try as a mage Inquisitor: 1: Iron Bull, Cassandra, and sera/varric/cole 2: Cole, Blackwall, Solas/Vivienne/Dorian 3: Cassandra, Sera/Varric, Cole. 4: Dorian, Vivienne, Iron Bull. Vecha
This will be my first digital pre-order...pretty neat I'll be able to play it at 11pm my time. Nioce. Preloading now.
Mr. GOH!
Well, I'm sure it will take a few minutes to unlock. Dunno how it works on consoles, but on PC Steam pre-loads download a bit more after unlock and then it takes a while to decrypt the pre-load data. I'm not sure the pre-load would be encrypted on consoles since it's not as easy to get to game assets as it is on PC.
TCP
The PS4 has a countdown clock going right to 9pm PST tomorrow, so I imagine that's when it'll be playable, but I'll confirm tomorrow.
Waldorf and Statler
It's playable at 12 AM EST 11 PM Central 9 PM PST It's not just you or the timer. It unlocks at 12 am somewhere but they decided to not be dicks and make it PST where it fucks over everybody else.
Mister Jack
Destiny taught me to never buy console games digitally again, so I'm gonna have to go pick it up physically like a caveman. I'm mulling over going to the midnight launch since I'm probably going to be up anyway, but I haven't made up my mind.

Mr. GOH!
Nope. Might take a personal day because I have no court appearances tomorrow. I need to see how much I can get done today at the office before I decide.

TheMightyEthan
I didn't play whatever that browser game is that's supposed to bridge the gap between 2 and Inquisition. Mister Jack
Pretty much what Ethan said. I thought Destiny would be a game I'd want to keep forever and boy was I wrong. I'm sure Dragon Age will be better but still, I learned my lesson. Edited November 18, 2014 by Mister Jack
Mr. GOH!
Browser game summary for TME: You're not missing much. You are the ruler of a small far western borderland orlesian marquisate called Serault.Your grandfather was a mage turned abomination, whose name was stricken from all records and he was subsequently known forevermore by decree of the Chantry (I think) as The Shame of Serault. The Divine Justinia is scheduled to visit in a week, so you have to prepare Serault. You can eventually discover: that Morrigan is very interested in eluvians. That Carver is still alive and a Gray Warden (at least in my game)that's it for lore. You can also redeem Serault.

I sadly feel the same about the fact that is majorly fell below expectations...but at the same time, I did have some fun times with it... TheMightyEthan
I'm still playing it daily, so I think I'm getting my money's worth.
TCP
So played the prologue last night. A few thoughts. It was cool watching the countdown clock go, and then the game immediately booted up once it hit 0, doesn't sound like that's how it works on PC so a win for consoles. The world looks beautiful, character models do kind of look like ass though. Gameplay is pretty good, I'm playing as your standard sword and shield, I can press R2 to attack or hold it down to repeatedly attack. The tactical camera is pretty great too, I like that it can be just activated whenever, it's not an either/or situation. I'm looking forward to diving in deeper but for now I want to finish off Ass Creed.
