TCP
I always play as a knight. I know it's boring but I don't know if I'd want to commit to being a rouge or mage for an entire RPG.
Vecha
Playing a mag here! Also love the tractical camera...had heard it can be a bit buggy, but I've had very few issues so far. I'm really curious as to how it plays on the 360/ps3(especially the ps3). The game feels like home after personally feeling like DA2 changed a bit too much for my taste....so far feel like this is a great common ground. Bracing myself for the ending... Hears the story was a tad bit weak.
madbassman39
Has anyone given Co-op a go? That is a bit of a selling point for me, if its half way decent I may end up buying it.
Mr. GOH!
Co op is a very minimal system separate from the campaign. I do not suggest dropping $60 on it just for the multiplayer. Edit: I rolled a dual wield female elf thief. Just played for about four hours and am really enjoying it, aside from some weird issues with my keyboard and mouse. Bioware again fucked up implementing the controls, making the scrollwheels on wireless mice useless. using the mouse to control the camera is also sluggish and feels odd when using my wireless mouse. I may just use my controller going forward. Spent about an hour exploring a small, small section of the Hinterlands. So great to see Bioware finally making a big exploration-based game. Mister Jack
Shit, I had a scare for about five minutes today when the game crashed while it was loading and my save got corrupted. Thankfully, it only corrupted one out of the three autosaves it had done, so after I went into my storage menu and deleted the offending file it defaulted to the one before it and all was well. Good thing, too, because I had been playing for about five hours at that point and if I lost all of that I think I would have rage quit the game for a day or two. SomTervo
Destiny taught me to never buy console games digitally again, so I'm gonna have to go pick it up physically like a caveman. I'm mulling over going to the midnight launch since I'm probably going to be up anyway, but I haven't made up my mind. Pretty much what Ethan said. I thought Destiny would be a game I'd want to keep forever and boy was I wrong. I'm sure Dragon Age will be better but still, I learned my lesson. Amen to that, brutha But at least Dragon Age is a known quantity. Nobody knew what the fuck they were getting with Destiny. But DA:I is the third (?) in a series, so a much less risky purchase to go digital on. From now on, I'm going retail always and then if a game's really good enough, I'll sell it retail and buy it digital once it's cheaper. That's what I did with Destiny. *Edit - Except for the cheaper part. I just didn't want to have to keep swapping discs. Mr. GOH!
How much did you sell your Destiny discs for? Edited November 19, 2014 by Mr. GOH!
TheMightyEthan
$45 after shipping. When I bought the digital version I got the deluxe, which saved me $5 off the expansion pass, so the whole transaction cost me $10.
Mr. GOH!
Plus your time, which I guess isn't worth much, huh? I wouldn't consider DA:I a risky digital purchase, either, unless you're new to the series. Because it's so long, you probably won't be done with it until the buy back price (and likely the new retail price) drops a bunch anyway. Played for several more hours yesterday and am loving it. Still only have the first few companions, though. I wonder where and when I'll find the rest.
TheMightyEthan
Throw on another $5 for my time, since most of the time I spent on it was time I would have otherwise been aimlessly browsing the internet. Yeah, I bought DA:I digitally too, since I have no reservations about it.
Vecha
I change my mind on the tactical camera...while I'm glad its back on consoles....I HATE how it zooms back to the character you are trying to give orders to...and then how it it will act as if its a person that can't go through walls/objects...ugh My wife is on PC...and the controls are as if it was ported from consoles... Bioware said PC was their starting place, but if that is even slightly true...all it means was that they(like all devs) used PCs period. I hope they at least attempt to fix these issues...but I have a feeling it won't be easy due to the engine they are using(based off battlefield right??) Other than that...I'm enjoying myself. If the game wasn't worth getting over a few awkward control movements I wouldn't have put in 12 hrs so far! Almost feel its above DAO. Almost
TheMightyEthan
My only complaints with the game so far are 1) what you said about the cursor not being able to go over/through barriers, and 2) that you can't set very detailed AI programs.
Mr. GOH!
So far I've clocked about 24 hours into the game and am really enjoying myself. The reviews are right; it's a very, very big game. I've only just begun exploring the second and third regions to which the player gets access, and there are four or five more waiting to be unlocked. It's a tad overwhelming, but I like it. Sadly, the game does not work with Steam in-home streaming, which generally works even with non-Steam games. For some reason (EA sabotaging Steam's streaming capabilities for Origin games), the game just boots up on the host computer while the client computer doesn't even attempt to bring up a Dragon Age Inquisition streaming window. It doesn't work even when I trick the streaming client into giving me access to the host desktop and boot Inquisition from Origin. I get the sound, but no image besides the cursor. It's annoying.
TheMightyEthan
I'm about 8 hours in and also very much enjoying myself. I've exploited about half of the first area I think.
Mister Jack
Does anyone know where to find more Bianca Arms schematics for Varric? His DPS is seriously lagging and I can't upgrade his crossbow any further because I only have Bianca Arms I.
Mr. GOH!
I've found them out exploring the Hinterlands. You can also buy them, I think the blacksmith in Haven has three mods for sale immediately. Bow rogues have low base DPS, though.
TheMightyEthan
How do I apply upgrades to my party's equipment? I can't have them in my party when I'm at the main base.
Vecha
@ethan I press down the directional buttons(thumb pad?...sorry just got a neck inject and in pain and woozy). It'll scroll through the party for you to change, upgrade, whatever your party's stuff
TheMightyEthan
Aha, I knew you could do that generally, but it didn't occur to me to try it at the base because they're not in your party.
Mr. GOH!
Yeah, the menus are not well designed. As an OG RPGamer, I'm used to bad menus, though.
Mister Jack
For real though why can't I romance that dwarf she's so much better than Cassandra and Josephine.
TheMightyEthan
Cassandra + my human female warrior = One True Ship.
Mister Jack
Actually that's one of my nitpicks about this otherwise fantastic game. There are not enough romance options for hetero men. Female characters have a minimum of three options. Four if you're going the lesbian/bisexual route and six if you're an elf. Bisexual men have four options. Straight men, however, only have two, and neither one of them is really that appealing to me.
