So I'm watching a stream of Wind Waker HD... I never played it but these guys:

are giving me PTSD flashbacks of childhood nightmares. Nope.

And maybe I should get a bit hyped for A Link Between Worlds... it would be the first Zelda game I've played since Twilight Princess, which I never beat because I don't seem to get how to cross that jump to the final dungeon... stupid, I know.

I didn't mind the grabby hands so much - wallmasters in Ocarina of Time were the same concept but WAY scarier since you couldn't see them but their shadow and they had that long swooshing sound effect.

The Windwaker Zombies though... those were brutal.  Took the Ocarina of Time idea of freezing you in place while they slowly walk forward and enhanced it with a better scream, a zoomed in camera angle making you see them get closer and closer and CLOSER, and a very VERY scary face.

Yeah, this.

And I agree the Link Between Worlds Link looks stupid.

Link Between Worlds is getting a limited edition XL. Lush.

If they had designed the XL to have replaceable covers, Nintendo could have made a fortune. Hell, even if they sorted out their account system I know people would buy the whole console again to get some of these limited editions.

In other news, the cover of the boxed version is reversible - one side is gold-tone, the other full colour. I'm sure I remember people complaining about one or the other so hopefully this will make people happy, though it does mean there won't be cool little pictures in the case cut outs.

For some reason Amazon didn't stock 3DS's for a long time (IIRC it was like a year and a half before they got them), they didn't stock Wii U's at launch, and they don't have 2DS's now.  There's clearly some kind of issue between the companies, but no one really knows what it is.

I still have an original 3DS (Crimson Red) and been thinking if I would ever move up to an XL. Is there any downsides to changing handheld systems, like will I get a new Friend Code? As far as SD card stuff, I just upgraded to an 8GB (Wii's SD card circe 2007) from the stock 2GB card and it was simple. However, I imagine swapping handhelds requires the system transfer on the 3DS, but I'm not aware of any shortcomings, and etc.

Like I said before, I'm a sucker for specific property limited editions. I would have loved the Luigi 3DS XL, but sadly that stayed in Japan. Of course, we are getting Mario and Luigi Wii Remotes this November 1st. :P

I like both versions - it's unusual not to have a person as the focus on a cover. and with link peering in from the corner on to the glade it has a sense of serenity and discovery. I hope this means there is more of an emphasis on exploration and puzzles rather than fighting, but I may just be reading too much into it.
