Yeah....that's my "friends" girlfriend....Just found out that he totally stabbed me in the back about 2 years ago though. Hope they don't want any of these printed because they totes will have to pay me for them since I didn't charge anything to take them.

I agree that it is how you shoot, not what you shoot with. I can't tell you how much better my pictures have gotten since I first started.

@Brida, you should be able to find a 50mm f1.8 for like 50 bucks used somewhere. They're all DX but if you're not planning on going to full frame then it's definitely worth it. My first lens was that and a 18-200mm f3.5-5.6.

Actually...that's the brunette, not the blonde. The blonde was just a model I met that day.

Ha, this photo is excellent:

Is that a weasel?

That's a ferret actually. I wasn't expecting that photo to turn out nearly as good as it did. I was incredibly stoked when I saw it.

A ferret! That's the word I was looking for.

Very cool.

I love good animal shots - they're hard to get.

I'd post some pictures from my Astronomy Escapade tonight, but my pictures of the moon are so blurry, thanks to my cheap Canon point-and-shoot's crappy photo sensor, that they just look terrible on a whole. :'(

I did manage to capture a pretty cool, if generic-looking, low-shutter effect thanks to the magic of no flash settings.

Woah! Missed thread, I'm quite down with photography, although I've seem to have lost most of my work. I remember my best stuff quite vividly, as shot by the Buiksloter Begraafplaats (cemetary), there's some quality stuff in there and also a shot where I look pretty good, sadly I have not been able to find this material foor a while.

I'm thinking it may have gotten lost, which is sad, as there was good stuff there. Meh, I'll get a new camera at some point and I'll start shooting again, I mostly do nature/wildlife

Also, the roadkill squirrel depressed me, sadness and a general sense of "taken too soon" eminates from his eyes, hope fading as light narrows. So sad..

Haha, all those 3 birds need are to wear some shades over their eyes and have a caption underneath saying, "LIKE A BOSS." laugh.gif

Whoa, cá chép Koi?! Đẹp quá! wub.gif

Are these your own koi, or did you just take a picture at your local fish pond or something? :P

I am honestly still amazed by your skill to grow orchids during winter time.

Erm… I'm going to guess… Monterey? Salinas? Santa Barbara? I know for a fact that the sky ain't this beautiful once you go north of Santa Cruz, so that eliminates half of this state's coastline. :P

Oh and I'm just starting to get into photography too, so I'm extremely amateur but eager to learn. I have a beginner's camera (Nikon D60) and took a beginner's class last fall...but I completely stopped right after cuz my wedding planning steals most of my free time now. :( I had all my assignment photos saved on an external HD and need to find it, I only have this photo to show for now.

Ohhh. This is an awesome picture.

I used to have a D60! That was my first DSLR. But then my dad gave me his old pro digital camera and gave my D60 to my brother in law.

Honestly, I miss the D60. Even if it didn't have all the bells and whistles of the one my dad had, I somehow took better pictures on it - perhaps because I still dunno how to use all the new bells and whistles properly, though.

Aww, thanks! Yeah even though it's an entry-level camera I love it, also not having a live view makes you feel more old-school hehe. I'm really used to their functions now, so I'm Team Nikon for life!

I doubt I'm going to be on a photography level that justifies buying a $2,000 camera + equipment, so when I get into it again I might just buy better lenses. There's so many to choose from, but I just want a reasonably priced, all around better-than-the-stock lens - with a VR function and better range of focal lengths. Any suggestions?

Yeah, the D60 seemed to be a pretty good camera body, so I'd say stick with that. A good lens can be crazy expensive though.

Did you get the D60 kit when you got it? My dad got me that at Cost-Co I remember, and it came with a wide angle and zoom lens. Decent lenses, but nothing special.

I got a macro/telephoto lens for Christmas from my dad though. Haven't had a chance to try it out as I didn't bring my camera home this trip, but once I try it out I'll let you know if it's any good!
