madbassman39
Honestly, it looks pretty fantastic. I want to see how they render all of skyrim and cyrodil in the MMO, but after seeing that video I'm intrigued. It has a lot of the same ideas that GW2 has, and right now GW2 is my favorite MMO. deanb
Being on a single shard is pretty neat. afaik the only other MMO to do that atm is EVE. Certainly makes playing with international folks much easier. Kinda lame it's a game with classes though, I'd have thought they'd have done well without those, have you mould your character through levelling up choices like it is now. Also having huge battles is pretty neat idea, but didn't WAR do that and kinda suck?
Waldorf and Statler
Sorry but that game still looks so terribly generic for me. Though I bought Guild Wars 2 thanks to my friends pressuring me and I couldn't get into it so maybe MMO's are not my type. God knows I gave it the good ol' try. deanb
http://signup.elderscrollsonline.com/ Beta sign-ups. I got to the final box of "why should you choose me" and realised I just don't care for MMOs.

deanb
There's a trailer too. And nah, no point applying and taking someone else's spot if I'm unlikely to use it. Already in enough betas I'm not playing as it is.
madbassman39
The Elder Scrolls has some amazing lore, watching and reading about the MMO, they really seem to be dipping into it and really bringing forward some really great stuff. That trailer, however, does not use the strengths that the series has, nor does it really give you an idea of what you are going to play during the game. Without reading anything about the game, I woud be asking "Who are these three people and what do they want with that tower they just all sieged?" Nothing really lets you know there is a three faction war, which really is the most interesting part of the story of the MMO.
deanb
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lg4Oawl7TVQ Might disappear soon. Leaked footage of the game, about 20minutes worth. It's...well it's an MMO. They're clearly not pushing the boat out. It's somewhat HUDless though, like Skyrim, which is neat. The inventory UI is much better than Skyrim too (though as there's no console version).

madbassman39
A video here at the bottom of the page http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/04/14/here-are-20-leaky-minutes-of-elder-scrolls-online-footage/ It looks like it plays like Skyrim, using a block button and clicking to attack. Overall I'm not super excited but I would love a chance to play the game with my friends.
deanb
Elder Scrolls Online to be F2P in record time.
TCP
I'd rather pay a subscription than go F2P but 15 dollars is a little hefty. Same with FFXIV, IMHO. Also this should be moved to the multi-plat area. I'm going to play the hell out of this on PS4. madbassman39
I don't think a subscription based MMO is a bad thing, its just not the best idea. The world was FLOODED with MMOs, all of which just tanked, less than 3 years ago. The market got saturated with F2P, which were bursting with WoW imitation, and then got better and better. F2P always was and always will be a Pay 2 Win thing with the really cheap MMOs. It ruined the image of F2P, because we got saturated in that as well. The problem is, how do you get players to believe that your product isn't another shovelware MMO, but not jump into the dying subscription model. So far there doesn't seem to be an answer. GW2 seems to have hit a great balance, but I think its safe to say that the B2P model GW2 is using wont work for everyone and may just end up being an anomaly for a while. My answer? $8 a month subscription. Its cheaper than WoW, but its not F2P. It may give the game the "budget" feel that ESO doesn't want, but if the game is quality people will look over it. Its the same price as a Netflix subscription and very few people scoff at that price. Just like Guild Wars 2, if ESO is a good enough game people will think of it as a great deal and a venture into a new pricing strategy rather than a budget game. Problem is, people's reactions to the beta have been very middle ground, and if its an average MMO running at less money than WoW, maybe people will actually see it as a budget MMO. TheMightyEthan
I think B2P combined with F2P practices is probably the best way to not feel like shovelware while also not having a subscription. The problem with that approach is you would have to be extremely careful to avoid turning into anything resembling P2W, because then people are going to feel like you're screwing them over even though they bought the game.
Mr. GOH!
B2P with purchasable cosmetics. Then again, we're talking about an MMO, so it will be terrible regardless.

I think this is best. Maybe not the most viable (I don't know), but I prefer it. As far as TES:O is concerned, I'm not sure what to think. I'm going to have to wait until a trial or something. Waldorf and Statler
They dun goofed imho. Elder scrolls might have name power but the fact it's not being made by Bethesda, has had ok if not meh early previews and now they're charging means it'll last a few months before going F2P, aka P2W since look at TOR
deanb
Saw a good point; $60+few months of $15 then going F2P = more than starting F2P. And given SWTOR went down the shitter fast they likely know this'll be going F2P just as fast. Name power means diddly squat, being a subbed MMO is a thing that's next to impossible to make and maintain these days.
madbassman39
I was surprised at how the people reacted to SWTOR. It was this hype machine and the minute it was released people just went sour. After watching that the only thing I could think is that any MMO with any form of hype can potentially fail as quickly as that MMO did. Internet has made people quickly move on and quick to point out flaws. I hope this does well, but I also don't want it to be too successful and then Zenimax says "well why not make a Fallout MMO instead of Fallout 4?" "You want a new Elder Scrolls game? We have one, its ESO, and its constantly evolving, we don't plan on making VI for a long while."
Mr. GOH!
KOTOR was marketed to folks who Wanted The Old Republic 3. When we bought it and saw that it was just another MMO witth he same shitty gameplay as every other MMO, with the added bonus of MMO dilution of player-centered stories, well, we fucking canceled our goddamned subscriptions. The things many, many folks love about single-player RPGS are mooted by the MMO format. TESO will have the same sort of problems.
Vecha
Well...got into the beta. Technically not supposed to be talking about it...but no one will tell on me, right? RIGHT? So...there are things I love...and things I have a few gripes about. When I started playing I was kind of surprised that it felt like an elder scrolls game...not quite as good as skyrim...but yeah...looks and feels like an ES game...except there are hundreds of people doing the same shit as you. So....definitely an MMO. I played mostly in first person, but it is just as easy to go from first to third and back again like Skyrim. Right now, the third person seems to have better animations than first. But I've heard they are continuing to improve the first person animations.I am playing as a rogue-like character with a bow...and there is a bit of some jerkiness with shooting the bow. For the most part, it IS enjoyable, but tends to have a bit of a delay every now again.Playing the game with a AMD/ATI r9270x, 12gigs of ram(yea, overkill) and a AMD-A10 cpu makes the game run pretty damn well. Game looks pretty lovely. Though, again, not as lovely as Skyrim can look. Like pretty much every other MMOs...it has immersion issues when I see 10-15 other people running around me doing the same quest. Not sure what they can do about that...The game also is pretty open world. Only in the first part of the game...not sure where the fuck I am, but it is awesome to climb a tower and see as far as the eye(and my distance slider hehe) can see. If you Love mmos, I can see you getting into it. If you hate mmos...yeah, nothing really ground breaking so far. Also, love sneaking around and shooting monster/bugs in the back! Hell yeah!I can't really see this game going far with a 60$+15$ a month price plan. I forsee it going f2p a year after release... If you have any questions...shoot. Hope my account banned won't be banned.

m1ckrz
I have been looking at ESO and I have my likes/dislikes. Wanted to see if any early veterans have some opinions they want to vent about the game. What did you expect? What did you get? How did that make you feel?
