Finished S1: That was OK, I guess. Starting to wish they'd just hit me in the face with a brick instead of these painful metaphors. THE LEAKY TAP WOULDN'T SHUT UP SO I SMASHED IT WITH A HAMMER.

Finished episode 1 of S2: Oh, this is very good. Still, tut tut, you didn't put near big enough a buffer between your pig story and the related scene.

Does anyone watch any quiz shows? My favourite is Pointless. In fact it's the only one I watch at the moment. Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman are great and great together - I really don't want to find if they only met for the show as I was fully traumatised when I heard the same about the Two Fat Ladies (still the best cookery programme ever).

I like Pointless. Also watch Eggheads because I'm a whizz at Film & Television, but last I saw they changed it to some stupid new format with just one Egghead, and the worst one as well.

While I'm here, I finished House of Cards S2. It got better, then it got worse and then it was OK. I just don't give much of a crap about the Underwoods, and everyone around them seems stupid. Plus, I guess it's budget restraints but so many of the scenes are two-handers with not much else. The main thing is that they all have a similar atmosphere and there's nothing interesting about them, so it just all blurs together into 'pairs of people in rooms, making deals'. Occasionally, it's interesting when it actually shows a character's dilemma, but those seem few and far between. Not exactly champing at the bit for a S3.

Here's a good discussion of the How I Met Your Mother ending.  Massive spoilers, obviously.

Personally,

I think it would have worked much better if instead of the mother dying, they just not have that, and have the series end with the scene with the two of them standing under the umbrella.  I thought the rest of the ending was well done.

So I just watched the last few season of HIMYM and I kind of like the ending now. It could have been better, but it's still good and most of all, its obvious. Its painfully obvious how this was all going to go and who was going to end up with who. I suppose thats something that gets lost on people if they don't marathon the last couple of seasons like I did. Its still fresh in my memory.

Also, Ted kind of redeems himself in season 9. I really disliked him for the decisions he's made in the past seasons, but season 9 really makes him a lot more likable by being a lot less selfish.

Also, if you marathon these last few seasons you realize one of the other characters is just as fucked up as him. So it makes it not seem so bad.

It kind of all fits in the end.

@Stranglelove:  Which character?

@Mal:  My wife and I are.

Well, all of them really. Except Marshall. But I meant Robin. Maybe people dont notice it, but she dates a lot of people and breaks up with them, including Ted and Barney. I used to dislike Ted for what I felt like he was "messing" with girls. Getting in serious relationships, then having it crumble. Or in some cases the other way around. He seemed to always change his mind constantly. Robin does the exact same thing. She's just constantly leading people on and then changing her mind at the drop of a hat.

Also, if you marathon it you'll realize that about half of the big problems/arguments in that show happen because of Lily. She just cant keep secrets. I thought that was funny.

So I started watching Veronica Mars after hearing about how good it was, and it totally is.

Im halfway through season 2. Im enjoying it quite a bit.

I also like how many Party Down actors are in this. Its weird that the same guy created both these shows.

Finished S1 of Rick and Morty. I kinda ignored it at first, but then my friends wouldn't shut up about it so gave it a look. I was sold from episode one (unlike Adventure Time, which I've never gotten into). The Interdimensional Customs bit alone was great.

"Cover me!"

"Oh, man! I mean, you know, I...I...I don't wanna shoot nobody!"

"They're just robots, Morty. It's okay to shoot them, they're robots."

*shoots, blows off guard's leg*

*other guard runs to fallen colleague*

"Glenn's bleeding to death! Someone call his wife and children!"

"They're not robots, Rick!"

"It's a figure of speech, Morty. They're bureaucrats. I don't respect them."

It's hilariously weird but at the same time grounds it with the family stuff. I also really like the genre knowingness they have going on.

And, of course, Justin Roiland's voice-acting is amazing.

If you're not watching because of the art style, Ethan, you are missing out!

So with Archer finished, I followed the crowd and decided to give Bob's Burgers a shot. I'm quite enjoying it. Just got a bunch on my phone watching in spare time. For the most part H. Jon Benjamin is using the exact same voice as he uses for Sterling, but there's only a few times where a phrase has been uttered and it's been distractingly archer-esque.

I'm quite liking the characters, and so far despite being mostly set in just the burger restaurant it's been more varied with the storylines than I expected.

Are you going to watch the movie after? I'm not a massive fan of the series, but I like it and enjoy the characters enough that I was excited for the movie. The movie was solid too. It doesn't really feel like a movie, moreso just a longer episode of the show, but that's fine. Can't imagine non-fans enjoying it at all, but that's probably a given.

Louie season 4. Theyre releasing 2 episodes at a time every week. These first 2 episodes were amazing. Especially that second episode. Jesus.

I love Louis C.K.! I didn't know that they're doing 2 episodes every week. I saw the two and I thought it was just a one time thing.

I actually made a gif of the scene in the second episode where (spoilers I guess?) he slips on the water. I don't know why that part got me so much but I cracked up. It was so simple and Louie played it so perfectly. Next Emmy winner, just for that scene.

Is anybody watching Silicon Valley?

The Americans is my new favorite show that's currently running. I'm on episode 10, and with the finale on Wednesday (ep 13, I think)... can't wait! Though a bit sad it's gonna be another year again before more episodes come.

I don't know how to describe it... it's painful watching these latest episodes, knowing stuff the Jennings don't know, watching all these events unfold. I love it!

Anyone watched / is watching Crisis? I like this show a lot. Too bad it's cancelled. Hopefully this gets resolved, but based on the final episode's title, i think it would be.

All tv show dvds should really have an option to skip the intro after the first one when you watch them all in a row. I love the Simpsons and South Park themes as much as anyone, but I dont marathon these shows to watch the intro a million times.

Also, Im not sure how many dvds still do this, but the Simpsons and a few other dvds go the extra mile to animate their menus. it looks cool and I appreciate the extra work and everything, but I hate going through the menu while waiting for the animations to finish since you cant skip them. Its a weird peeve, but its annoying nonetheless. Luckily, it's only the first couple of seasons of The Simpsons that do this.

So I've been neglecting my duty is a gamer to make sure my PS4 gets the attention it deserves . It's a super awesome machine, but I've been on a slump recently, for about 3 months now. I just can't be bothered to game again since finishing AC4. Man, that was a great game about pirates! I've always found, as I'm sure many others here too, that time period fascinating. And I love period pieces. Just like AC3 too. Connor was damn boring but that period, too, was really interesting.

I not only like period pieces on my video games, but on my TV shows, too! I've been watching TV a LOT since I'm not currently playing video games. Which brings us to AMC's TURN (with a turned "N" for effect because you know, it's really clever!) Unfortunately, that is the only thing interesting about this show, well, that and the fact that's its a period piece on the American revolution. And that it's about spies! Wow. With all that, this has to be a good show, right?

turn.png

I am deeply saddened to report, my fellow TV loving gamer friends, that this show is a disappointment. I had high hopes for this show, because it's a period piece (my favorite kind of TV show!) and it's about spies! I even blindly recommended it to my friends because I trust that AMC turns out decent shows. But... now that I'm typing this, it wasn't really AMC I was thinking of. It was FX. They made Justified, and The Americans (which may become my favorite TV show of all time, replacing Lost). And Archer! But let me get back to Turn.

The show is so boring that I would dare say, The Vampire Diaries could get you more excited per episode. Honestly, I must confess, I watched TVD due to Nina Dobrev being the lead, but I must say I have enjoyed the first Season of that show, and have continued watching it (through 5 seasons!!!) even if the quality of the show has declined. But I would still recommend that, over what this AMC show brings.

The sets in TURN keep me watching till the end of each episode, even though nothing amazing or cool really happens in the middle. But what I could not take is that at every episode's end, it makes me say "Oh, it's done. Was that it?". It does not even attempt to try to make you stay tuned for next week. It's like at the end of each episode, they say "Well that's it for today. Today's Drama is wrapped up. But hey, maybe you could tune in next week, something really interesting could happen, but were not about to drop any clues here. Hope to see you next week!". Just this last episode that I watched, the last scene was the lead girl telling the lead guy "You should have killed him when you had the chance!" and the guy says "Well I couldn't, you heard what my father said!" and the girl goes "Duh! He was bluffing, he is your father and loves you and will do anything to protect you." Then they both put on their sad faces, rode on a wagon, and the credits roll. Good god, how boring was that.

AMC has yet to renew or cancel the show. A part of me wishes they would, because as I said, I love period pieces, but a part of me also doesn't seem to care, because it's really not a good show. Maybe it'll get better though, over time, as right now they just seem to be setting up the spy ring, and a lot of boring shit need to get done before we get into the good parts.

----

TL;DR. I am bored out of my mind so I made this rant that is all over the place. TURN is NOT good. It looks cool, but it's not a good show, which makes me sad.

For me, nothing will get top Flavor of Love. That reality show had me laughing every time, plus the element of crazy that you only get from women who are willing to bang Flavor Flav.

By the same producers came Rock of Love. Again, solid gold dating reality show.

Since then, the only reality shows that are somewhat decent are The Real Housewives (though there is not one person to actually like on this series) and Project Runway. Real Housewives is all about middle-aged drunk women who swear they are still 20. Lots of stupidity and lots of cattiness. Project Runway is just a good show.

But, I read the wiki on your show. It sounds like The Hills? Similar in structure maybe?

The closest thing to that which is still airing right now (I think it's on still) is Shahs of Sunset.  Vapid 20 somethings who have rich daddies.  I would say it's like The Hills, but these people are all definite fame whores who like to talk a lot, where The Hills was a lot of nothing that was supposed to mean something.
