There was!

Peter was demoted to having only 1 power at a time (triggered by touch even if he doesn't know it happened). It was hilarious when he lost his super strength only to be replaced by a power that lets him "see sound as colors", which he got from touching a deaf girl. It's shit like that that makes you not want to watch the show.

The main plot starring "T-Bag" from Prison Break was kinda cool. I think he was trying to create a place where those with powers could live in peace or something, but he's also kind of crazy (Ropert Knepper portrays the same guy in every role...). They canceled it mid-season.

I think I liked Heroes longer than most people managed to - up until the carnival and that man you just mentioned (just saw he's an American, didn't he put on an awful British accent?). Can't remember how it all ended though. I thought they'd all died to save the world but that can't be right if they're making more of them.

The writer's strike did hurt Heroes, but I feel like even an amateur should have been able to come up with something better than what they did.  How many fucking times can Sylar switch sides?  For that matter, as cool as he was in the first season I got really sick of him always hijacking the plot after a while.  He was worse than Ganon in that regard.  He should have been killed off a long time ago but the "writers" didn't have the balls to do it.

the writers strike and NBC execs changing the format of the show is what brought the quality down.  The creators wanted Heroes to be an anthology, with each season focusing on new characters and a new plot, like True Detective will be.  But the fan support of characters like Hiro made NBC demand that the characters be constant.  So they had to change it all up, then the strike happened.

Heroes blew after season 1. The writers' strike fucked the season 2 storyline, which resulted in gaping plot holes and bizarre changes in character behavior. I am amused that Peter stranded his girlfriend in a terrible postapocalyptic timeline that he subsequently erased. Shows that just forget about major secondary characters are amazing in terrible ways.

Did he? How do I not remember that?

  • 4 weeks later...

Apparently this year's Shark Week is quite horrible. Can't say I watched it for the last few years but I recall it was at least ok on the information.

With that said... At least I got oversea documentaries. Apocalypse WWI is decent but man do they put an emphasis on Germany on being baddies. It is a bit light but it is there.

So I started watching Dollhouse (what do you mean that was five years ago?!) I'm enjoying it so far, though a large part of that might be Eliza Dushku...

Definitely a hard one to get into, since Whedon shows are about well-written characters... and in this the protagonist 'changes' every week. Actually finding myself more intrigued by the ongoing stuff and the little twists and turns there. Let's hope it doesn't turn out to be a half-baked mystery like in every other show that utilises that.

I watched Dollhouse when it was airing. It was ok. I understand why it got cancelled though, the plot really feels like it would only appeal to a niche audience.

And they will eventually focus on more serialized episodes later (late season 1 or season 2).

I think this was one show I enjoyed watching but didn't really feel sad about being cancelled (except for the fact that it's a show that stars Eliza Dushku). The show really was pretty meh.

I tried with Dollhouse, but it fell short of keeping me intrigued.  Eliza Dushku doing some sci-fi/fantasy thing seemed to be a winning combo.  But, I couldn't bring myself to care about any character on there, and there seemed to be a lack of reason in the show.

If anything, Eliza Dushku is the only reason to watch it.
