Yeah, I'm not entirely sure how I feel after finishing the season. It has it's great moments, like the one already mentioned. At the end of it all, it's like everything got changed 90 degrees.

BoJack's dream of being in a Secretariat movie became a moot point and he fell into another rut. Honestly I hated how Diane became a putz in the latter half of the season. Absolutely set everything back to a Season 1 setting until she's offered a job by Princess Carolyn. She accidentally finds herself in front of Mr. Peanutbutter and, hey, he's understanding.

The game show was definitely a favorite moment of mine. Another was the cast of Horsin' Around getting together to find Herb's "gold." But, like, did things have to become so shit with Charlotte (the deer)? That was tragic and off-putting to a whole other level.

Some of the writing in the current season of True Detective is fucking shocking. On the whole it's a poor season. I wonder what the hell happened since the first, which could have been a masterpiece but copped out in a couple of ways. I guess the second is more ambitious than the first by far, four protagonists rather than two. And I feel the last few episodes might be way better than 3 and 4. Both of which were bad.

Vince Vaughan, or more specifically how his character is written, is ruining every fucking scene he's in. Oh my god it's on my screen right now and it is just agonising. It's 100% cliché delivered with no emotion.

Edit: in another poor scene with two decent characters. One of them says 'this girl's gone missing'. I skip ahead to catch up to where I was, and she says identically 'this girl's gone missing'. Wtf. And the other character in the conversation just said 'Because... my powers of influence are so meagre in this subluminar world of ours.'

This guy is a straight-talking, gritty hardboiled detective. Why the fuck is he talking like a thesaurus. Has happened three or four times in this episode. Christ almighty.

Edit edit: there were a couple of great scenes in there. But the ratio of good scenes to bad is probably about 1:4 at this stage. There's a hysterical moment where they see a silly-looking guy dressed as jesus walking along carrying a crucifix, with really ominous droning music over the top. It was such a fucking style clash, I actually laughed. There was a much more sinister image about ten seconds before which was pretty effective, then they had jesus guy.

Anyone watch Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell? Just got around to finishing it now and it was very good. A lot of great acting and just the right mix of drama and fantasy, and at least to begin light hearted moments though it got increasingly dark as the series went on, that descent was well paced and fitted well with the story.

Based on a book which people cannot praise highly enough either so I may have a look at that.

That Daredevil fight scene felt like a video game to me. At one point, Matt was trying to get up (being injured and all), and 3 of the henchmen stood up, and adjusted their jackets, and slowly walked to him, like how fights start in games like Sleeping Dogs or Yakuza. Yakuza especiialy, like when you run into thugs in the street, they adjust their jackets, get into a fighting stance, while the camera pulls away slowly, then slowly walk toward you. Watching it feels surreal.

I finished watching all of Justified the other day. Was waiting for Netflix to get the last two seasons but that didn't seem to be happening, so I blasted through those over a couple of weeks via "alternative means".

The final season really does get to tying up loose ends, usually by killing off characters, and playing down some of the more humorous aspects, so it ratchets up the tension come the finale. Introducing a "black hat" towards the end was a neat, telegraphed touch.

Overall, it was a great watch and the ending was good. It's not big and flashy. It's the sort of resolution that sits comfortably in the stomach, once it's all done.

The only thing I didn't like about the ending was

Raylan not getting back together with his ex-wife and raising the kid together. I mean, I guess it makes sense, and Raylan even says 51/49 on what their chances are. Didn't like them showing her new partner as well, but I guess you have to, to illustrate that they're not really together.

But shit, I've been waiting for the resolution of this thing since Season 3 or 4. I want my happy ending goddammit... All these bittersweet endings suck. Seems like nobody wants to put a nice little happy ending at the end anymore.

Oh and I would have raged if they fucking killed Raylan in that last shootout. I was really starting to get mad when I saw the blood from the (failed) headshot.

Justified

I think it was "happy" enough. Raylan is still a lawman and he no longer has that anger (they reference that old Winona line about being the angriest man she's ever known) and he got out of Harlan alive. Plus, he still has his vanilla ice-cream. That's all he ever really wanted/needed. :P

I did get a little worried with the shoot-out because you see that spurt out his head -- at first, I expected them to mirror Boyd's shoulder shot -- but I guess his hat was slightly big and worn high. Plus, Boon had said that "trouble with going for the headshot" bit previously when he shot Derek (they killed so many people!) Just odd that Raylan stays on the floor for a while afterwards as an obvious tension builder.

Boyd's ending is a little weird, but also really sad when Raylan asks if he really loved Ava. Whether the intention of the lie is that Boyd can't be trusted to change or just that he's a bad influence regardless.

Kind of gutted that Wynn Duffy got away, but he did a good thing in the end, I suppose. Plus, he was a great character.

Ava's ending was good and explains much of the dilemma/chaos of the finale.

Overall, it seemed like these damaged people got what they needed/deserved.

Wrapped up Death Note started watching Humans.

Only into the first episode so far, it's pretty neat, covering various elements of "what if we made AI robots" ("synths" in this).

There's a few threads in it, main one is the group of Synths that have full feeling n thought on the run. Other is a household where the regularly working from home mum is kinda "replaced" with a Synth(one of the special ones incognito) and her reactions to that, and a guy with progressing alzhiemers (or similar) who has a a aging synth (though physically youngest of them all) that is malfunctioning, but kind of his memory bank of sorts and I guess surrogate son.

Covers lightly on singularity (mainly a brief description), references "asimov" though only a split second, and so far it'd seem they're not following the Three Laws but do have their own version sorta defined throughout the first episode (the house keeping synth burns the mum with a oven tray in protecting the daughter). Compelling first episode. I think it's coming to US Netflix, I reckon be a good watch.

Edit: The son/aging one is the gay prostitute from Game of Thrones. Thought I recognised him, was itching in my mind. (Merlin and Jen are much more immediately to mind). Something in back of my mind was going "this is wierd that the old man has a Snyth that looks like that...why is this firing neurons in my brain". Didn't help one of them is actually a prostitute synth.

edi9t 2: So this is interesting. Anyway: It's on AMC for the Americans wanting to watch. It turns out however it wasn't originally a Channel4/AMC production but one by Xbox Entertainment Studios but they've since closed after producing the documentary about Atari & ET game. I'd guess given the folks in the show that it's been produced more by Channel 4 than AMC.

The dude you're taking about is also in a decent programme about people that returned from the dead (I hesitate to say zombies as their still conscious-partially dead syndrome they call it in the programme) It's called 'in the flesh' and is worth a watch.

Oh and as to humans, that was good- hope it's not a spoiler but you are very right about the asimov laws. Rebecca foot turns up in it too which I thought was weird as the role seems more minor than she should be doing

Just watched it (I guess being left alone in the office for two days has it's perks) and yeah pretty hefty change for the show :P

Had been a few bits this series that were a bit meh, I wasn't really into the Purge episode didn't move much forwards. Was the parasite one this series? That was pretty fun.

I guess none of you watch The Great British Bake Off, but it was the final today and I got a bit teary at the end of it. Was pretty surprised to see Mary Berry holding back a tear too. She knows they've changed a deserving person's life which may sound strange to say about a baking competition, but is absolutely true.

Most watched programme of the year so far I think - 14m people. It's exactly what you'd expect from daily mail. I hated it when it first blew up on the Internet and people in the usaa thought it was a respectable British paper. Glad it's become abundantly clear to everyone that it is a steaming pile.

I used to watch it at my dads since he had Sky. Since moving out I grabbed a bunch of series of TPB and found out that the narrator is different for UK release (though iirc it got stripped back at the show progressed, like they used to have the "urban legend expert" or whatever on and that lasted like 1-2 series). Not kept up with it as much as I'd have liked, it's not super easy to follow (especially with eztv sorta "going"), I guess could see about grabbing latest series and final.

A combo of a colleague pushing me to try out Hola Unblocker and I think some recommendations I saw on Reddit(and many stuff before including you guys, but trends n triggers) I'm now watching Better Off Ted. Watched about 4 episodes in a row last night, though during the fourth had to get off my bike :P

Tested (well "Untitled: Adam Savage Project" or whatever it is) more recently recommended Mr Robot too (as did a friend who other week just out of blue messaged with "Dean Watch Mr Robot") So might put that into the queue next. Flash is back on too, but can't like binge cycle through that.
