Hot Heart
Started watching Justified. Really glad they lightened the tone a bit since the pilot; a lot more entertaining with the off-kilter sensibility. And there always seems to be a nice roster of guest stars episode to episode. I have seen Garrus' voice actor have his teeth pulled out by Cameron from Ferris Bueller, heh.
Waldorf and Statler
Justified is my favorite cop show period. I love the show's hillbilly-noir. Season 2 is some of the finest television there is, and I believe the main baddie even won her Emmy from it. Season 1 and 3 are also great but season 2 is just fantastic. I'm hoping season 4 can bring some more season 2 magic.
Hot Heart
I haven't really gotten a 'noir' vibe from it, unless you mean that by being hillbilly it's a li'l bit silly (kind of like Big Lebowski compared to Miller's Crossing). Though I can see some of the darker elements are there in the background. I guess it does have a nice mix of lighter 'stories of the week' while the other character-focused stuff is a little more serious; just that the first episode was all about the one thing, without any levity. Sort of reminds me of how Joss Whedon was told to make Mal a little cheerier than he was in the Firefly pilot. It's entertaining enough anyway. TheFlyingGerbil
oops. I watched the first episode of Justified, thought it was too downbeat and never bothered again. Oh well :/
Waldorf and Statler
They call it hillbilly Noir as in detective stories taking place with hillbillys. But yeah it isn't much darker or stylized in the noir fashion

Waldorf and Statler
I don't want to be that guy but there's a reason the show is so highly rated (like in the 90's). Characters are top-notch is the main reason so keep watching. Having said that, I still need to watch Homeland and finish the Wire. Anybody here willing to give me a heads up on how Homeland is? Eleven
I think the pacing in that show is excellent. I guess I got used to other shows where they drag on and on, but I found myself quite surprised with how some of the events turned out. Also, Carrie Mathison is Jack Bauer reborn. Vecha
Just like videogames...I get in the habbit of having a shit ton of shows in the "need to get to this sometime before I die" My Faves: The Sopranos Battlestar Galatica Dexter(Until the last two seasons ) LOST(Untill the last few seasons...loved the first, second, and most of the third). Homeland(I'm behind on the second season....) Shows I need to watch: Smallville Games of Thrones Boardwalk Empire Firefly
Eleven
I thought you said "and most of all, the third". I think the 3rd is the weakest, and only redeemed by the plot twist at the very end. Man, season 4 of LOST is my favorite. Season 1 might be better overall, but Season 4 is crazy. I have a hard time convincing others to watch it up to that point though, as you have 3 full seasons that you really need to watch to be able to understand what the hell is happening in Season 4... I just want them to watch "The Constant".

I just didn't enjoy it as much when they were just on the beach front exploring. I think I do remember the constant...been a few years. Waldorf and Statler
Vecha 3 of the shows on your list of must watch are DEFINITELY a must watch. Recommendations in order: Firefly (show is already over and only had like 2-3 seasons so definitely watch it now, it's on Netflix. Then watch Serenity the movie sequel and hate Joss Whedon's joke). Game of Thrones. Third season is about to start in 4 months or so and if you don't have the time to read the absolutely fantastic novels watch the show asap. Basically this is our modern age Tolkien-level fantasy. Boardwalk Empire. I absolutely love this show but it doesn't have the fanbase or ratings of say, The Sopranos. It's not as sleazy as The Sopranos and much more political, but it does have its badasses. Highly recommended by me personally. Three seasons out and fourh season comes out in a year. I honestly wouldn't even recommen Smallville past the first couple of seasons. It dragged on for too long seasons-wise and later seasons were pretty shitty. Yeah....people have been barking on me for years about Firefly. XD Watched Serenity and loved it. I have the complete series on dvd(borrowing from a friend)...plan to get on it soon. Same goes for BE and GoT...probably will wait for smallville to show up on netflix or something.

Season 6 is... well... we need to end the show sometime. I still liked it more than 3! The Constant is Desmond's episode in Season 4, the one where his consciousness time travels. Hot Heart
Firefly (show is already over and only had like 2-3 seasons so definitely watch it now, it's on Netflix. It didn't even finish one. Have you been watching the latest season of Dexter, Vecha? It seems to be a bit more interesting and unpredictable (and far better than S5 and 6) from what I've heard; as long as you ignore the other Miami Metro cast members (Zzzzz). Serious developments have happened since next season is the last. Plus, it features Yvonne Strahovski.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, Firefly only ever got one season of like 12 episodes.
Waldorf and Statler
Guess it's been a while and I forgot. But I've been keeping up with Dexter except for the past 2 or so episodes and the season is ok. I preferred last season.
Hot Heart
The episode that just aired was pretty good though. Kinda makes up for some of the other stuff this season, and I think there's something that should cause a little debate and discussion. deanb
Season 3 of Lost is the introduction of The Others village. Season 4 ends in 6 of them leaving the Island. Smallville's pretty good, but kinda sucks at the start with the "Freak of the week" layout, and super sucks with the shitty introduction of Superman towards the end. But the development of the Lex Luthor/Clark Kent friendship/enemyship is great to watch. There's also the fun element, if you're into your DCAU, of The Flash being Lex Luthor. There's also some great range of dudes from previous Superman and related stuff; Chris Reeves (Superman), Dean Cain (Superman), Terence Stamp(Zod), Annette O'toole(Lana Lang), Lynda Carter (wife of Zenimax CEO and Amazonian Princess). There's also Darth Starkiller as Doomsday, Dr Daniel Jackson as Hawkman, and probable many other recognisable faces (like..errm well Boone from Lost..). It's a pretty great spin on the superman mythos, combined with a slightly more traditional high school based show (At least for the first few series) Firefly did go on for five series, but with the small problem that the complete box-set is only available in the "Welcome to Heaven" gift basket.
Hot Heart
Forgot to mention my favourite line from a Justified episode. "I hated my father. So I buy Hitler's shitty paintings - and I burn them."
SomTervo
I can appreciate what Smallville was going for, and how it all started out, but I just can't forgive it for how... shit it is. Like, some of the worst writing I've ever seen. Remarkably well acted and directed despite being like Hollyoaks with superpowers writingwise. Right now, as it's heavy essay/exam period, I've been on a binge of comedy shows. The guitarist in the band let me grab a plethora of comedy series' from his hard drive, SO MUCH WATCHING: - It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia: just getting better and better, just started Season 4. - Community: OMG doesn't just get better and better, but gets better and better exponentially. Nearly finished Season 1, it's just fucking unreal. The first few episodes are genuinely fairly "meh", but by this point every episode is an unadulterated joy and pleasure to watch. Leaves me feeling so uplifted. - Louie: probably the most intelligent sitcom I've ever seen. If I want something a little more challenging, and fucking incredibly well produced (like, cinematically stunning), I put on a Louie. Walks the fine line between good, down-to-earth comedy and truly harrowing serious-shit drama so perfectly. One minute you're genuinely laughing out loud, next you're staring in stunned, shocked silence. - How I Met Your Mother: good enough, casual easy-watch. Plus the new season of Peep Show is wayyy better than I expected it to be. Edited December 11, 2012 by kenshi_ryden
Waldorf and Statler
I personally prefer the later seasons of community when the characters are basically parodies of their personas.
Hot Heart
I think Community hit its peak at the end of S1. Though, there have been some real standout episodes across the other two seasons.
SomTervo
Most folk I know think it peaked at S02, and that S03 is good but a bit much. Imho, for what it's going for, I can't imagine it getting much better than the latter parts of S01. Anybody here watch Louie? Fucking great show like.
