Bungie's new project: http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/21/activision-bungie-contract-reveals-four-game-plan-code-named-de/

The reason I'm posting it here is because I'm wondering if the timed Xbox exclusivity is some remnant of Bungie's deal with MS, or just that they're more familiar with the 360.

It's just a thing MS do. See a large chunk of multi-platform DLC. There's also word there's still contractual obligations Bungie have to MS. While Bungie have mainly 360 experience I can't see Activision making it a choice to be 360-exclusive when they can always hire on PS3/PC devs.

That whole 90% review rating for the bonuses is kinda stupid. It's a stupid system, but even stupider to reveal it to you know..the folks rating your games. Cos now there's the "well if you give them less than 90% rating you're cutting off their bonus".

A concept image. Its giving me a Killzone (Heavy, strong) feel, which I like. I think there might be more stuff but I can't confirm if those are real. This image is from Bungie themselves.

Edit: Imgur link.

Was trying to think of Lost Planet but yeah: Killzone/Lost Planet like.

Jist of the background story: Humanity is in decline and we're pretty much stuck in one mega city. Then for whatever reason aliens start to have interest in us. Also its a MMOFPS of some sort so... I'm not sure how to think about that. Got to wait for more details.

Seems a good enough write-up. Also shifting this from Xbox to Multi-plat.

Always Online on a console could end up being a a bit of a killer for it. I've only had a light skim up to now though (kinda lengthy article). Got things to do and it's not exactly a game that I'm hyped for like some.

Well if the always-online rumors about the 720 prove true then at least on that platform it won't hinder this game especially (I know it's only been announced for PS360, but I'm going to assume it'll be one of those console-generation-straddling games).

Unless I'm missing something, this sounds very much like a multiplayer-only deal. Doesn't seem to be any mention of a single-player campaign. So how exactly is always-online something that could work against the game? That's pretty much a requirement for all multiplayer games.

Single-player purists will be able to quest as a Guardian throughout the galaxy; however, in order to "realize the vision of the game," Destiny will require a constant internet connection on all platforms regardless of play style.

No game has been supported for 10 years before? And on PC? Straight off the top of my head there's Final Fantasy XI. Probably a few others on top of that, I think Gaia Online hit ten the other day, and Kingdom of Loathing.

On the PC front of things would be much better for them if they'd just said "We couldn't be bothered to make a PC port for reasons". And let folks move from there instead of saying what he did say and being relatively largely wrong and giving folks a lot of things to pick on and bring up over the years against them (especially when the inevitable PC port comes, cos yeah 10 year game it's coming out on PC.). Especially not announcing a PC release at the same time as announcing a 10 year game for two very quickly about to die consoles like one of them is going to officially become last-gen in like two days time how did they not know to not announce anything until E3 what the hell Bungie.

It's never been attempted before, give them a chance. No need to be snarky about the no PC thing.

I wasn't trying to be snarky. 10 years is a long time. Much longer than any console generation's ever lasted. That's why it seems kind of weird to me. And like Dean said, they're releasing it for consoles that will be obsolete before the year's end.

As for it not coming to PC, I'm not too bothered. So far, what little information they've shared makes the game sound like it won't really be my thing. I'm really more a single-player guy.

I'm a single player guy as well. But I wasn't much of a shooter guy until Halo came along so I'm willing to hear them out.

edit: and by the it's never been attempted before I meant an MMO-esque shooter. But thinking about it there was one that failed (can't remember its name) and another one that was never released (was supposed to come out from some korean studio for 360).

On the possibility of a PC version, Parsons said: "We would absolutely love to be on the PC. If you talk to the people upstairs, we play it on all platforms. So, stay tuned." No mention was made of a Wii U version.

That's Bungie COO Pete Parsons.

Methinks that quote on RPS was taken out of context, and when Jones said no one plays them like that anymore he was talking about the limited weapons, regenerating health, etc, not PC as a platform.
